2018 City Legendz Invitational Top Players

This weekend, RecruitTheBronx.com took a trip to check out the action at the City Legendz Invitational at St. Raymond High School in the Bronx. The CL Invitational is a high school event designed to help student/athletes gain exposure and raise funds for the Motefiore Childrens Hospital. We caught five New York teams from four schools in New York Military Academy, Brooklyn Democracy Academy, Our Saviour Lutheran High School (both their Regional and National Teams) and Brooklyn Collegiate High School. Here are the player standouts:


Xavier Gibbs, 5’10 Shooting Guard, New York Military Academy, Class of 2020 - A player that can create his own shot and can shoot from long range. A guard that finds a variety of ways to score, runs the floor well and is great at getting to the hole.


Gavin Thompson, 5’10 Point Guard, Our Saviour Lutheran High School (Regional), Class of 2020 - Has a good shooting touch and makes plenty of moves around the basket. Can take advantage of opponents when left open oh the outside.


Jalen Ricks, 5’10 Point Guard, New York Military Academy, Class of 2019 - A diminutive guard that makes good moves when going to the hole. Has a penchant for playing lockdown defense. Has quickness and is tremendous at getting steals.


Sam Clark, 6’5 Forward, New York Military Academy, Class of 2019 - A player that can play all three front-court positions, but has plenty of energy and runs the floor well. Has plenty of athleticism and finds ways to score inside.


Bryan Daney, 6’1 Shooting Guard, Our Saviour Lutheran High School (Regional), Class of 2020 - A player that is good for getting to the basket and loves to draw fouls. Is clutch at the free-throw line. Is a natural scorer that looks to get to the hole every time.


Anthony Marshall, 5’11 Point Guard, Brooklyn Democracy Academy, Class of 2020 - A slick point guard that moves well off of the pick & roll. Has a great jumpshot. Struggles with turning the ball over and having control. Has cat-like quickness, especially on defense, where is prone to getting steals.


Trey Clarke, 6’6 Forward, Brooklyn Democracy Academy, Class of 2020 - A strong forward that makes great moves in the paint, but can also handle the ball on the perimeter. Finishes strong in the hole and is able to absorb contact when going up for a basket. Shows aggression and can also get blocks.


Lanace Blakemore, 6’8 Forward, Brooklyn Democracy Academy, Class of 2020 - A forward that has a good build, but has a lot of versatility. Can step out and shoot from the top of the key and is a good passer.


Majesty Johnson, 5’8 Point Guard, Brooklyn Collegiate High School, Class of 2020 - A diminutive guard that has great awareness of what’s happening on the court. Great at getting his teammates involved. Has cat-like quickness and is a defensive threat when it comes to getting steals.


Glen Anderson, 5’9 Point Guard, Brooklyn Collegiate High School, Class of 2019 - A guard that has plenty of strength and is great at pushing the ball up the court. Tremendous at getting to the basket, but sometimes struggles with shooting from long range.


Charles Brown, 6’3 Small Forward, Brooklyn Collegiate High School, Class of 2019 - A forward that has plenty of versatility and can play the three or four position. Great at stepping out to shoot from long range. Struggles with turning the ball over, at times.


Erlyn Ramirez, 6’7 Forward, Brooklyn Collegiate High School, Class of 2019 - A bruising power forward that makes his presence felt around the paint. Attacks the boards with precision and gives the ultimate effort on the court. Struggles with finishing at the basket.


Amahrie Simpkins, 6’4 Forward, Brooklyn Collegiate High School, Class of 2020 - A swingman with a long wingspan that has a scorer’s mentality. Makes aggressive drives to the basket and also has a good jump shot. Runs very well up and down the floor.


Jaylin Anderson, 6’4 Wing Brooklyn Collegiate High School, Class of 2020 - A forward that can attack the hole. Has a long wingspan, can corral rebounds and run the floor. Is a strong defensive presence.


DaShawn Davis, 6-3, Point Guard, Our Saviour Lutheran High School (National), Class of 2019 -A guard that can pass the ball and has good court vision. Is also a lockdown defender. Great at getting to the basket and absorbing contact.


Jaquan Sanders, 6’2 Shooting Guard, Our Saviour Lutheran High School (National), Class of 2022 - A guard with a lithe frame that can make plays and also take plenty of charges. Has plenty of toughness and poise when on the floor. Is aggressive on defense and uses his his length to intimidate defenders.


Silas Sunday, 7’0 Center, Our Saviour Lutheran High School (National), Class of 2022 - A center with a big body, who is still developing his overall game, but has potential to be a dominant presence in the paint. Is a solid rebounder. Has a lot of potential in his game.


Bernard Kouma, 6’11, Forward, Our Saviour Lutheran High School (National), Class of 2019 - Is a solid forward and is a physical presence in the low post. Is able to corral rebounds and makes good moves in the low post when going up to score.


Dylan Wusu, 6’4 Forward, Our Saviour Lutheran High School (National), Class of 2020 - Is a player that is a physical specimen. Is a guard that provides plenty of energy and explosion in his game. Also shows plenty of athleticism and can get rebounds, plus is a distributor.


Sheiquel Kabba, 5’10 Shooting Guard, Our Saviour Lutheran High School (National), Class of 2019 - A speedy guard that finds his way to the hole and can easily score. Has a long shooting stroke and can be deadly from long range when open.
