2018 Brooklyn Bridge Holiday Classic

This past Sunday, Recruit the Bronx made their way to downtown Brooklyn for the Brooklyn Bridge Holiday Classic, which is run by the Brooklyn Youth Sports Club, at George Westinghouse High School. There were several programs from the CHSAA and the PSAL that came out to play on this Sunday afternoon and evening. Here are the standouts from the games that held their own:


Lenin Garcia, 6’2, Shooting Guard, All Hallows High School, Class of 2021 - A guard who trails rebounds and can move well without the ball. Has good hands and anticipates the ball and always looks for steals. Struggles with finishing at the basket.


Cha Jones, 5’7, Shooting Guard, Robeson High School, Class of 2020 - Is a guard that is a high-volume shooter and looks to score every time. Attacks the basket efficiently and is able to crash the boards for rebounds.


Devin Diaz, 6’4, All Hallows High School, Class of 2020 - Is a forward that can score the ball and takes plenty of shots from long range. Diaz s a player with a big body that can step outside and shoot, but can also can play inside as well as out.


Anferny Peña, 6’4, Forward, Robeson High School, Class of 2021 - A forward who runs well up and down the floor. Has plenty of athleticism and can grab rebounds. Struggles with being aggressive in the low post when it comes to boxing out. Has a good shooting touch.


Terrell Roberts, 5’11, Forward, Robeson High School, Class of 2020 - An undersized power forward who is efficient at grabbing rebounds, but can also put the ball on the floor. Has an affinity for scoring and finds a way to get baskets.


Chad Ewart, 5-11, Point Guard, All Hallows High School, Class of 2020 - Is a solid playmaker that can run the team and has good court vision. Also is a strong threat from three-point range when left open.


Dontae Prescott, 5’9, Point Guard, Nazareth High School, Class of 2021 - A point guard who sees the floor and can deliver the ball to his teammates at the right time. Has a good jump shot. Although he lacks size, he is a very fearless player on the court.


Ziare Wells, 6-4, Forward, Nazareth High School, Class of 2021 - A wing player who plays aggressive defense and has a good jumper from long range. Is a player that finishes strong in the lane, despite his lithe frame.


Vernon Simmons, 6’3, Shooting Guard, Eagle Academy, Class of 2020 - A guard with plenty of athleticism and is solid at getting rebounds. He struggles with turning the ball over. Simmons has a long wingspan and uses his length well on defense. Is great at blocking shots.


DaMarco Watson, 6’3, Shooting Guard, Eagle Academy, Class of 2020 - A guard that makes aggressive drives to the basket and a player that could shoot from long range. Has good hands and can get steals.


Michael Caldero, 6’0, Point Guard, Eagle Academy, Class of 2020 - A guard who is a dangerous threat at the three-point line. Moves well without the ball. Caldero s a good finisher at the basket and is not afraid of contact in doing so.


Khalil Brantley, 5’10, Point Guard, Nazareth High School, Class of 2021 - Brantley is a lead guard who can make plenty of good plays and direct his team. Also has the ability to shoot from three-point range. Good at driving to the basket, Struggles with staying out of foul trouble.


Ikenna Ude-Smith, 6’5, Forward, Nazareth High School, Class of 2021 - A forward who can do plenty of things in the paint. Although he lacks strength, he still possesses athleticism and is a good rebounder.


TJ Morris, 6’3, Shooting Guard, Nazareth High School, Class of 2021 - Morris is a wing with plenty of versatility in his game. Has the ability to get to the basket with a good first step. Shows athleticism and can shoot from long range.


Donte Ager, 5’11, Point Guard, Cardozo High School, Class of 2019 - Ager is a guard who can shoot from long range and is a prolific scorer. Has good court vision and plays good defense. Is known to take plenty of shots from three-point range, but can also drive to the basket. Sometimes struggles with finishing at the basket.


Jaylen Davis, 6’4, Shooting Guard, Cardozo High School, Class of 2019 - A guard who has good range on his shot and can make plenty of good passes on offense. Struggles with ball control and making good decisions.


Kendrick Cuello, 5’6, Point Guard, WHEELS, Class of 2020 - This guard is lightning-quick in transition and is a great passer. Plays outstanding defense and can see the court when he has the ball in his hands. Struggles with turning the ball over.


Ryan Pye, 6’0, Shooting Guard, WHEELS, Class of 2019 - This is a guard who plays good defense and has a knack for scoring and shooting from long range. Struggles with getting back on defense. Runs the floor well on both ends of the court.


Davonta Cook, 5’11, Point Guard, Brooklyn Law & Tech High School, Class of 2019 - Cook will shoot at a high volume and can do damage when left open from long range. Plays a lot of pressure defense and has the ability to grab rebounds. Is very alert when going for the ball.


Calvin Jenkins, 6’1, Small Forward, Brooklyn Law & Tech High School, Class of 2020 - An undersized forward who both gets steals and can scores at a high rate. He compensates for his lack of height by using his long wingspan and playing with reckless abandon. He gets rebounds and also boxes out well when in the post.
