2018 NYC Super 16 Showcase
On the December 15th, RecruitTheBronx.com was on hand to watch the Super 16 Showcase at Intech Academy in the Bronx. The two day event is organized by Head Coach and Director of Tennessee Preparatory Academy, Harold Rayford. Here are the top prospects that we saw:
Anthony Marshall 2020 5’11 Point Guard Metro BDA - One of the best PG’s in NYC, has a quick and shifty handle keeps defenders off balance. Quick first step and is a crafty finisher thru traffic. Creates good separation off the dribble for his pullup. Good 3pt shooter. Very good court vision, passes teammates open. Pesky perimeter defender has quick hands.
Trey Clarke 2019 6’6 Wing Metro BDA - Good slashing moves out of triple threat. Athletic finisher adept at drawing contact and finishes well. Decent perimeter handle. Good rebounder. Solid body. Needs to be more consistent 3pt shooter.
Savion Thousand 2019 6’3 Guard Metro BDA - Crafty finisher thru traffic, has good body control. Strong handle and has good court vision. Tough perimeter defender, really gets after it and is the vocal leader on that side of the court. Streaky outside shooter, needs to be more consistent.
Odeen McIntosh 2020 6’9 Center Metro BDA - Good interior defender, is very active. Blocks and contests shot well with his long arms. Decent rebounder. Long and lanky frame. Needs to add on muscle.
Lance Blakemore 2020 6’9 Power Forward/Center Metro BDA - Solid rebounder with long arms, boxes out well. Good finisher inside has a soft touch around the rim. Runs the floor well and catches the ball well in stride. Solid body.
Mike Duviella 2019 6’8 Power Forward Metro BDA - Good rebounder, gives good effort on the boards. Decent shot blocker. Runs the floor well at his size. Decent shot blocker. Needs to get stronger to bang down low.
Gavion Singleton 2019 6’5 Shooting Guard Carolina Basketball Academy (NC) - Good slashing moves, can finish thru contact on the drive. Good leaping ability, is an athletic dunker on the break and an alley-oop threat. Quality perimeter defender. Hustles on both ends of the court. Needs to tighten his handle on the perimeter, is loose at times.
DeAndre Watson 2021 6’9 Power Forward Carolina Basketball Academy (NC) - Consistent finisher inside has a soft touch around the rim. Good handle in the open floor. Good weakside shotblocker and has quick hands on defense. Hustles hard on the defensive and offensive boards, chases down loose balls. Runs the floor hard. Long and lanky frame, has long arms. Needs to get stronger.
Omar Gardner 2020 6’3 Shooting Guard Carolina Basketball Academy (NC) - Explosive leaper, attacks the basket strong. Hard to stop going downhill on the break, can go coast to coast. Can finish thru traffic on the drive, has a quick first step. Streaky outside shooter. Needs to get stronger to be more effective thru contact.
BJ Adesoga 2019 6’9 Center Carolina Basketball Academy (NC) - Good perimeter handle and passing ability at his size. Decent post moves. Can finish thru contact on the inside. Good rebounder, boxes out well. Has a big body and uses it to his advantage. Needs to improve his stamina. Committed to NC A&T.
Ibn Lyn 2019 6’4 Wing Carolina Basketball Academy (NC) - Attacks the basket strong and is always in attack mode offensively. Adept at drawing and finishing on the drive. Decent perimeter defender. Athletic build. Needs to be a more consistent 3pt shooter.
Traizon Byrd 2019 6’6 Shooting Guard Tennessee Prep Academy (TN) - Can score on all three levels, scores in bunches. Good outside shooter, spot up or off the dribble. Athletic finisher on the break, fills the lanes well. Shifty perimeter handle with a quick first step. Quick hands on defense. Long and lanky frame.
Kevin Siakam 2020 6’9 Power Forward Tennessee Prep Academy (TN) - Soft hands catches the ball well thru traffic. Good finisher thru contact. Athletic finisher inside. Goes hard on the boards and gets a lot of 2nd chance opportunities. Stays with the play on both ends and hustles hard.
Chris Ward 2020 6’7 Small Forward Tennessee Prep Academy (TN) - Natural playmaker on the wing, quality perimeter handle. Crafty finisher on the drive. Decent post footwork. Quick hands on defense, plays the passing lanes well with his long arms. Very active on both ends. Needs to improve his outside shooting. Needs to get stronger to be more effective thru contact.
Darrell Belcher 2019 6’4 Shooting Guard Tennessee Prep Academy (TN) - Attacks the basket strong and is always in attack mode. Finishes thru contact well on the drive. Explosive first step off the dribble. Strong body.
Much Biel 2019 7’0 Center Tennessee Prep Academy (TN) - Good shotblocker, uses his long arms to bother most drives. Runs the floor well at his size and is an athletic finisher on the break. Decent rebounder. Long and lanky frame. Needs to add muscle.
Kyron Robinson 2020 5’8 Point Guard Our Savior Lutheran - Attacks the basket strong and is a crafty finisher on thru traffic. Adept at drawing contact on the drive. Lightning speed with ball. Has a quick and shifty handle, that keeps defenders off balance. Good court vision, can pass teammates open. Pesky perimeter defender with quick hands. Streaky outside shooter.
Chase Lane 2019 6’5 Shooting Guard Covenant College Prep Post Grad (NJ) - Can score on all three levels, variety of moves out of triple threat. Good 3pt shooter. Explosive leaper, attacks the basket strong. Shifty perimeter handle. Decent perimeter defender.
Isaac Aguilar 2019 6’10 Center Covenant College Prep Post Grad (NJ) - Good footwork and post moves at his size. Has a soft touch around the basket. Decent rebounder. Runs the floor well for his size. Needs to be more active defending the paint.
