2019 Big North Shootout Top Players

RecruitTheBronx.com took a trip to Uncommon Charter High School in Brooklyn to cover the Big North Shootout, where several standouts from schools in New York City and upstate New York State met up. Here were the standouts from the two-day event:


Michael Browne, 6-2, Forward, Archbishop Molloy High School, Class of 2020 - A player who makes good movements on defense and has good hands. Runs the floor well and looks to get the basket very often. Is defense-oriented and uses his length to block shots and get steals.


Quavon Daniel, 5-10, Point Guard, Uncommon Charter High School, Class of 2020 - A diminutive point guard who has plenty of physical strength despite his small frame. Has good court vision and is aware of his teammates’ movements at all times.


Abdias Carcamo, 5-9, Point Guard, Archbishop Molloy High School, Class of 2020 - “Speedy” is a heady guard who has an affinity for shooting from long range. Struggles sometimes with relying solely on his jumper and also with finishing at the basket. Is solid on defense and possesses plenty of quickness.


Ahzariah Douglas, 6-3, Shooting Guard, Uncommon Charter High School, Class of 2020 - A wing player that runs well when going up and down the court. Douglas has good defensive skills and is solid and can crash the boards. On offense, he plays like a guard and makes good drives to the basket and possesses a streaky jumper.


Caleb Brown, 6-3, Forward, Uncommon Charter High School, Class of 2020 - Brown is an undersized forward that plays great defense and is an enforcer in the paint. Is solid at blocking shots and attacking the boards and being aware of loose balls.


Deandre Abrams, 6-0, Point Guard, Uncommon Charter High School, Class of 2020 - A shifty, and lightly built guard who has plenty of hustle in his game and is good at getting steals. He also sets up the high quality shots for his team and grabs rebounds. Is very alert on both ends of the court.


Trey Clarke, 6-6, Forward, Metro BDA/Brooklyn Democracy Academy, Class of 2019 - Clarke is a physical forward who plays strong in the paint area and looks to get to the glass. Runs hard up and down the floor and can attack the basket, as well blocks shots.


Savion Thousand, 6-4, Shooting Guard,, Metro BDA/Brooklyn Democracy Academy, Class of 2019 - A big guard that can go to the hole strong, yet struggles with finishing at the basket consistently. Good at playing hustle defense. Shows the ability to shoot from long range.


Anthony Marshall, 5-11, Point Guard, Metro BDA/Brooklyn Democracy Academy, Class of 2020 - Marshall is has plenty of speedy moves when going to the basket. He is not afraid of physical contact and will not back down from a challenge on the court. He is also good at facilitating open shots for his teammates.


DaShawn Davis, 6-3, Point Guard, Our Saviour Lutheran High School, Class of 2019 - A player that can make plenty of plays on the court. Has good court vision and can see his teammates moving in transition. Has the ability to rebound and run up and down the floor.


Dylan Wusu, 6-4, Forward, Our Saviour Lutheran High School, Class of 2020 - Wusu is a wing who can step out and shoot from long range. He also can be physical when the opportunity presents itself. He has the ability to get rebounds efficiently and play like a power forward on occasion.


Nick Rivera-Torres, 6-7, Forward, Our Saviour Lutheran High School, Class of 2019 - A forward who can spread out the floor and play hard-nosed defense. Rivera-Torress a dangerous shooter from long-range, especially when left open on the perimeter. Great at getting rebounds and asserting himself on the low-block.


Ibine Ayo Sadiku, 6-6, Forward, Our Saviour Lutheran High School, Class of 2022 - A forward that has plenty of athleticism on both ends of the court. Is known for throwing down powerful dunks on offense and for blocking shots on defense. Struggles with lack of strength, but makes up for it with effort.


Bernard Kouma, 6-10, Forward, Our Saviour Lutheran High School, Class of 2019 - Kouma is a player who can do many things on the low blocks. Is a solid rebounder and a good finisher at the basket. Is good when shooting from 15 feet and is tough at getting to the basket. Has an affinity for getting rebounds, tip-ins and blocks.


Tyler Hawkins, 6-0, Point Guard, Abraham Lincoln High School, Class of 2022 - A diminutive guard that can make plays and has plenty of flash in his game. Is armed with a lethal jumpshot from long range. Great at staying with the opposition on defense.


Andre Jackson, 6-6, Forward, Albany Academy, Class of 2020 - Jackson has plenty of athletic ability. He is long and agile and is always willing to guard the opposition’s best player. Has good court vision and sees where everyone else is going on the court. Great at blocking shots and rebounding in the low post.


Junior Sutherland, 6-2, Shooting Guard, Abraham Lincoln High School, Class of 2019 - Sutherland is a hustler and is a good defender. Struggles with taking certain shots and finishing at the basket, but is always where his team needs him on defense.


August Mahoney, 6-2, Shooting Guard, Albany Academy, Class of 2019 - Mahoney is smart and knows where he needs to be on the court at all times. He is efficient at getting rebounds and getting baskets in a timely fashion. He takes pride in playing man-to-man defense and is also a long-range shooter when left open.


Ron Brown, 6-4, Shooting Guard, Albany Academy, Class of 2020 - Brown is good at running up and down the floor, and also looks to score. He is a consistent rebounder that loves to run on the break. He can take advantage of a team when left open on the outside.


Deontay Sprattley, 6-0, Shooting Guard, Abraham Lincoln High School, Class of 2020 - Sprattley is a guard who attacks the basket and also makes plenty of hustle plays on defense. He will go for whatever rebound or loose ball is available at that moment. Struggles with shooting from long range.
