2019 Rucker Park Prep Tournament - Top Performers

On Saturday, June 22, RecruitTheBronx.com paid a visit to the hallowed grounds of Rucker Park in Harlem for the first annual Rucker Park Prep tournament, which is sponsored by Def Jam Records. Two New York-area schools and an AAU program from upstate New York came out and showed their talents. Here were their standouts:


Joshua Rodriguez, 5-9, Point Guard, Green Tech High School, Albany Elite, Class of 2021 - Rodriguez is very fast and efficient and makes good moves around the perimeter. Has the ability to get past defenders and has good passing instincts. Has a nice shooting touch from the outside.


Justin Owens, 6-9, Forward, Green Tech High School, Albany Elite, Class of 2020 - Owens is long and athletic and uses his length to get around the opposition. Good at getting to the rim efficiently and is a good finisher at the basket.


Trevor Green, 6-2, Shooting Guard, Lansinburg High School, Albany Elite, Class of 2019 - Green likes to slash to the basket and plays tough defense on the opposition. Is able to get to the basket and create for himself. Struggles with consistent jumper.


Latyse Faison, 6-0, Point Guard, Troy High School, Albany Elite, Class of 2019 - Faison has plenty of finesse in his game. Makes plenty of flashy moves, but also has a lethal jump shot to match. Also possesses plenty of quickness on the court.


RJ Greene, 6-4, Shooting Guard, Iona Preparatory School, Class of 2022 - Greene is strong when he goes to the basket. Has a lot of athleticism when driving to the basket and is solid when going up for rebounds. Struggles with three-point shooting, but makes up with that with his hustle.


Isaac Gonzalez, 6-1, Point Guard, Iona Preparatory School, Class of 2022 - Gonzalez is quick and deceptive on the floor and knows when & where to pass the ball to his teammates. Uses his quickness to get to the basket and is able to score at will.


Keeshawn Jones, 6-2, Shooting Guard, Iona Preparatory School, Class of 2020 - Jones is a defensive threat and looks to obtain the ball from the defender every time on the defensive end. Makes strong moves to the basket. Very fearless when going to the basket and is always able to get to the free-throw line.


Dylan Farley, 6-3, Forward, Iona Preparatory School, Class of 2020 - Farley is strong when going up for a basket in the low post. Good at putting the bail on the floor and attacking the hole. Is an aggressive rebounder that can hold his own in the paint.


Anthony Marshall, 6-0, Point Guard, Brooklyn Democracy Academy, Class of 2020 - Marshall moves well off of the pick and roll and is a steaky shooter. Has plenty of quickness on the court and has a knack for making flashy passes when he sees teammates moving around and/or cutting to the basket.


Trey Clarke, 6-6, Forward, Brooklyn Democracy Academy, Class of 2019 - Clarke is a forward who can also handle the ball on the perimeter and can hold his own in the low post. Makes strong fnishes in the hole and is able to absorb contact when going up for a basket, and is prone to getting and-ones. Shows plenty of aggression on the court.


Lance Blakemore, 6-8, Forward, Brooklyn Democracy Academy, Class of 2020 - Blakemore is strong and has a good build, and has a lot of versatility on the floor. Can step out and shoot from the top of the key and is a good passer. Has plenty of good moves in and out of the paint.


Savion Thousand, 6-3, Shooting Guard, Brooklyn Democracy Academy, Class of 2019 - Thousand is very deceptive and is very fearless when going to the basket. Has plenty of moves and is not afraid of physical contact, as he is able to get to the basket and draw fouls in order to get to the free-throw line. Good at passing the ball to his teammates. Struggles with inconsistent jumper.


Melquan Collins, 6-4, Brooklyn Democracy Academy, Brooklyn Stompers, Class of 2020 - Collins is long and agile and is a hard-nosed player in the post. Loves to handle the ball on the perimeter. Great at playing above the rim and has a lot of toughness, as well as versatility on the court.
