2019 FunSport Summer League Top Performers - 8/5

On Monday, RecruitTheBronx.com paid a visit to the asphalt court of Tillary Park in downtown Brooklyn to check out the action at the Funsport High School Summer League, which has about a dozen of the city’s best high school teams in the CHSAA and PSAL. Here are the standouts for Monday’s games:


Jakai White, 6-1, Shooting Guard, Brooklyn Law & Tech High School Class of 2021 - White has plenty of length and makes strong drives to the basket and can kill the opposition with his ability to get to the basket easily. Has the ability to shoot a mid-range jumper.


Gregory Ricketts, 5-7, Point Guard, Brooklyn Law & Tech High School, Class of 2022 - Ricketts is quick at getting up and down the court. Has good hands and looks to get steals. Is very good at passing the ball and racks up assists at a huge rate.


Michael Lucas, 6-3, Shooting Guard, Brooklyn Law & Tech High School, Class of 2020 - Lucas plays bigger than his height and gives plenty of effort on the court. Sometimes struggles at finishing at the basket, but is good at crashing the boards and getting rebounds. Has a lot of great energy on the floor.


Nicholas Horsford, 6-7, Forward, Medgar Evers High School, Class of 2021 - Horsford is big and imposing on the floor. Has the opportunity to block shots and grab rebounds. Is hard for the opposition to stop because of his size. Struggles with lack of quickness on the floor.


Madison Muldrow, 6-3, Shooting Guard, Holy Cross High School, Class of 2020 - Muldrow is very skilled and versatile and is able to do a lot of things on the court. Is explosive when going to the hole and is able to get to the rim efficiently. Has the ability to shoot from long range and can hurt a team if left open on the perimeter.


Ryan Panagarkos, 6-3, Shooting Guard, Holy Cross High School, Class of 2020 - Panagarkos has a lot of hustle and energy on the court. Puts effort into helping his team win games and be successful on the court. Crashes the boards to get rebounds and can hold his own in the low post and can also step out and shoot.


Mason Bligen, 6-5, Forward, Holy Cross High School, Class of 2021 - Bligen is a good inside presence for his team, as his size allows him to get rebounds and block shots. Also runs well on both ends of the court and is solid when going to the basket to score.


Mervin Hope, 6-6, Forward, Westinghouse High School, Class of 2020 - Hope is long and athletic and always looks to get rebounds. Has the ability to score and get to the basket efficiently. Is good for blocking shots, as well, and running well on the break.


Ebenezer Ofei, 6-1, Shooting Guard, Westinghouse High School, Class of 2021 - Ofei is tenacious and scrappy on the floor as he is efficient at boxing out his defender. Great at driving and finishing at the basket and is very fearless when it comes to physical contact.


Terrell Mitchell, 6-2, Shooting Guard, Westinghouse High School, Class of 2021 - Mitchell is a potent offensive threat for his team. Is able to attack on the offensive end multiple ways. Has a tough jumper and can shoot from the top of the key or long range.


Elijah Nedd, 5-8, Point Guard, Westinghouse High School, Class of 2021 - Nedd is lightning-fast and likes to run in transition on both ends of the court. Has good hands and is prone to getting steals, which allow him to race to the basket to score. Is very energetic on the court and puts in good effort.


Teowdros Surafel, 5-11, Point Guard, Eagle Academy II, Class of 2020 - Surafel is solid and is careful when it comes to handling the ball. Is a guard that likes to run in transition and is able to pass the ball and make sure that his teammates get to where they need to.


Christian Peacock, 5-5, Point Guard, Eagle Academy II, Class of 2020 - Peacock plays bigger than his diminutive frame. Is very fearless when going to the basket and is able to get to the basket. Is a guard that can score at will and can burn a team if not guarded heavily.


Zaire Williams, 6-1, Point Guard, Eagle Academy II, Class of 2021 - Williams can break down his defender with his dribble and can get to the basket efficiently. Has great court vision and is able to direct his teammates through traffic as they move around the floor.


Carson Small, 6-3, Forward, Bedford Academy, Class of 2020 - Small is an undersized forward who is able to box out defenders and is able to show that he is an enforcer in the paint. Is able to let off his hook shot efficiently and likes to crash the glass rebounds.


Mayowa Adeoye, 6-2, Shooting Guard, Bedford Academy, Class of 2020 - Adeoye is very athletic and is able to move well around the world. Is able to attack the glass and rebound. Good at finishing at the basket. Loves to drive in the lane and is fearless of physical contact.


Gabriel Holley, 5-8, Point Guard, Benjamin Banneker Academy, Class of 2021 - Holley is able to get his shots off easily and is able to get to the basket. Has excellent court vision and is able to make good passes. Is also a good defensive player as he sticks with his man at all times.


Amahrie Simpkins, 6-4, Forward, Brooklyn Collegiate High School, Class of 2020 - Simpkins makes smooth drives to the basket and is able to glide to the basket efficiently. Is very strong and is able to get rebounds and likes to run on the fast break. Is able to show plenty of athleticism.


Tahron Allen, 6-4, Shooting Guard, Brooklyn Collegiate High School, Class of 2021 - Allen is a very impressive defender and is able to attack the glass. Finds multiple ways to score, like getting to the basket and can also shoot jumpers from the perimeter. Has plenty of hustle in his game.


Jaylin Anderson, 6-4, Forward, Brooklyn Collegiate High School, Class of 2020 - Anderson has plenty of athleticism and also has plenty of versatility in his game. Has the ability to shoot jumpers and is good using his wingspan for getting rebounds and blocks. Has good ballhandling skills in his repertoire.
