2019 Smartball Classic Top Performers - 8/19

On Monday night, August 19, RecruitTheBronx.com returned to the Abraham Lincoln Playground in Harlem for the Smartball Classic for the matchups between Our Saviour Lutheran (Independent) versus Monsignor Scanlan (CHSAA) and South Shore (PSAL) versus Iona Prep (CHSAA). Here are the standouts for both of the games:


Dylan Wusu, 6-4, Shooting Guard, Our Saviour Lutheran High School, Class of 2020 - We have been following Wusu since his days at Sacred Heart in Yonkers. He has plenty of energy, explosion and athleticism in his game. Has a lot of quickness in his game and loves to run on the fast break. When going up to the basket, he takes a lot of strong drives to the hole. He also has the ability to rebound in the low post.


Ibine Ayo Sadiku, 6-6, Forward, Our Saviour Lutheran High School, Class of 2022 - Sadiku has a high motor and athleticism on both ends of the court. Has plenty of energy and is a solid rebounder and also has the ability to score. Loves to run in transition and has the ability to dunk on the fast break.


Jaquan Sanders, 6-3, Shooting Guard, Our Saviour Lutheran High School, Class of 2022 - Sanders’ biggest strength is his shooting. When left open at three-point range, he cwill do damage to the opposition. Has some quickness on the floor and shows good passing abilities and defensive tendencies.


Shemar McKenzie, 6-5, Forward, Our Saviour Lutheran High School, Class of 2020 - McKinzie is long and athletic and has plenty of explosiveness. Likes to run in transition and can play above the rim. Has the ability to get rebounds and can pass the ball to his teammates. Gives his squad much-needed toughness on the floor.


Ray Glasgow, 6-0, Point Guard, Monsignor Scanlan High School, Class of 2021 - Glasgow knows what to do when he’s on the perimeter because he is a potent threat when he is allowed to shoot from long range. He has multiple ways to score on offense. His quickness is good which, among other things, helps him make steals.


Kesean Tracey, 5-9, Point Guard, Monsignor Scanlan High School, Class of 2022 - Tracey is a diminutive guard who knows how to get the ball to his teammates. He has a great IQ and knows where and when to move on the floor. Although he is a pass-first guard, he also finds ways to get to the basket.


Hamdel Mohamed, 6-7, Forward, Monsignor Scanlan High School, Class of 2020 - Mohamed is a force in the low post. He has superb athletic ability and is good at sealing defenders when it comes to grabbing rebounds and blocking shots. Loves to play above the rim and is physical around the basket.


Rodney Bailey, 5-9, Point Guard, Monsignor Scanlan High School, Class of 2020 - Bailey makes tough drives to the basket and makes plenty of hustle plays, such as grabbing steals. He loves to run on the fast break and can attack the basket when running in transition or when he gets an opening.


Darus Sanders, 6-0, Shooting Guard, Monsignor Scanlan High School, Class of 2020 - Sanders knows his role on the team and does whatever his team needs him to do on the floor. When he is needed to score, then he can provide a basket. On defense, he plays to the best of his ability.


RJ Greene, 6-5, Shooting Guard, Iona Preparatory School, Class of 2022 - Greene’s RTB profile/resume continues to grow. He makes strong drives when going to the hole. Has plenty of strength and is solid when going crashing the boards for rebounds. He has great energy and hustle on the court. If he can get to a practice gym and make the heavy investment in his shooting reps, his attractiveness at the next level will blossom.


Isaac Gonzalez, 6-1, Point Guard, Iona Preparatory School, Class of 2022 - Gonzalez has great court vision to see where his teammates are moving at all times. He can be very deceptive with the ball and has a great IQ when on the perimeter.  He uses his quickness to get past his defender to the basket and is able to score at will.


Vidrew McQueen, 6-0, Shooting Guard, Iona Preparatory School, Class of 2020 - McQueen has a quick first step and is able to beat his man at all times when it comes to going to the basket. Has plenty of energy on the floor and finds multiple ways to score. He also uses his quickness to his advantage on the defensive end.


Aidan Hildebrand, 6-5, Shooting Guard, Iona Preparatory School, Class of 2020 - Hildebrnd is tough and scrappy when it comes to getting the ball. He puts in a lot of effort when it comes to rebounding and has a nice outside shot from long range. Is a huge asset to his team when it comes to him doing the little things.


Marcus Burnett, 6-3, Shooting Guard, South Shore High School, Class of 2020 - Burnett displays a nice shooting touch from the three-point range. Knows how to handle the ball on the perimeter and can read his defender. Makes strong drives to the hole and goes is fearless when it comes to physical contact in the lane.


Kareem May, 6-1, Point Guard, South Shore High School, Class of 2020 - May has the ability to distribute the ball and is very quick on the floor. Has excellent court vision and can see where his teammates are moving. Has an excellent outside shot, especially when he is left open.


Jason Palmer, 6-4, Forward, South Shore High School, Class of 2020 - Palmer has plenty of strength and has a solid build. Loves to run in transition and can also rebound and play defense. Is able to get to the basket easily.

 

Messiah Peters, 5-10, Point Guard, South Shore High School, Class of 2022 - Peters has plenty of quickness and is very aggressive in going to the basket. He is a shifty guard who effectively varies his speeds and makes it his mission to score at all times. He is very fearless when it comes to physical contact.


Nayquan Pounder, 6-3, Shooting Guard, South Shore High School, Class of 2020 - Pounder plays lockdown defense. He has good lateral movement and is able to stay with his opponent at all times. He finds multiple ways to be effective on the floor.


Mike Emmanuel, 6-3, Forward, South Shore High School, Class of 2020 - Emmanuel is a high-school sized forward who likes to rebound and hold his own in the low post. He has good movement and is able to block shots and maintain a defensive presence in the low block. Is one of the team’s toughest players and does everything that he is expected to do. The development of wing skills will drive his impact at the collegiate level.


Nivik Borden, 6-6, Forward, South Shore High School, Class of 2022 - Borden has a strong presence in the low post and plays tough defense in the paint area, which makes him a key player on the floor. He has plenty of strength and uses it to get rebounds and is solid when boxing out in the low-post.


Kipplyn Richvine, 6-1, Shooting Guard, South Shore High School, Class of 2021 - Richvine is strong and powerful and has a good defensive presence. He loves physical contact and has the ability to get to the basket and score. Loves to run in transition.  He is able to read his defender and counter effectively.
