During the month of September, RecruitTheBronx.com went out to its network of high school, prep school and AAU coaches and asked them to submit notes on any under-recruited college prospects that they had in the programs. Below we present their responses.

 


2020s

 

Kobe Anderson (2020) 6’2 guard, Capital Prep (Hartford, CT) - Anderson is a physical guard with a very good mid-range jump shot and ability to handle the ball.

 

Solomon Barlow (2020) 6’3 point guard, Capital Prep (Hartford, CT) - Barlow has a long wingspan and is athletic with the ability to handle the ball and make plays.


Jayvon Chapman (2020) 5’10 point guard, Hamden HS (CT) - Capman led his team in assists and steals in 2018. He was an All Conference player who averaged 15 pts and 5.5 assists per game as a junior.

 

Jaden Cook (2020) 5’11 combo guard, Danbury High (CT) - Cook is a returning starter that is a strong and athletic guard.  He is a good defender, can get in the lane, and has good vision.

 

Isaiah Easter (2020) 6’3 wing, Danbury High (CT) - Eastern is a long wing that can get up and down the floor.  He is a skilled player that can influence the game in many ways.

 

Sean Edwards (2020) 6’4 shooting guard, St Edmunds Prep - Edwards had an excellent junior year averaging 13 points per game and making All CHSAA. He has unlimited shooting range and a quick release.

 

Mark Engel (2020) 6’1 guard, St Edmunds Prep, AAU Team: The City - Engel is an outstanding shooter and scorer who can create his own shot. Exciting player who really can get going offensively scoring in bunches in the open floor. He is also a good on-the-ball defender.

 

Darius Ervin 5’7 (2020) Northfield Mount Hermon HS (MA), AAU Team: Riverside Hawks - Ervin is an very exciting player. Off-the-charts quickness and ability to shred defenses. Runs an offense like an All Conference point guard. His range and quick release on the three ball is a game changer.

 

Keanu Figueroa (2020) 5’9 Capital Prep (Hartford, CT) -Figueroa is a quick ball handler who can finish around the basket, make plays and is good at pressuring the ball on defense.

 

Brian Geitner (2020) 6’4 combo guard, Tolland HS (CT), AAU Team: Diamond Basketball Club (DBC): Geitner is one of the best shooters in Connecticut and has solid combo guard upside with a great ability to facilitate.

 

Chris Gleaton Jr (2020) 6’4 combo guard Trinity-Pawling School, AAU Team: Diamond Basketball Club (DBC): Gleaton is known as a big time shooter. He displayed a polished three-level skill set and an ability to run an offense this past Spring and Summer with DBC.


Carlos Gonzalez (2020) 5’10 combo guard, Watkinson School:  Gonzalez is a tough scrappy guard defensively and can play both guard positions.  Excels in transition and finding open teammates on the break.  Streaky shooter, but when hot he can knock down 3’s at very high clip.


Timothy Greene (2020)6’3 guard, Norman Thomas HS, AAU Team: Connecticut Basketball Academy - Greene is a terrific outside shooter, good handle, sees the floor well and can make really good passes and decisions on the court, scrappy on ball defender. Needs to improve on his overall explosiveness and willingness to attack the rim as well as his consistency when making decisions.

 

Peter Haas (2020) 6’5 forward, Dalton School, AAU Team: The City - Haas is a small forward with 3-point range and who is also a great passer. He can play the stretch 4 and has a high basketball IQ.


Linwood “LJ” Hazelwood (2020) 6’4 swing, Academy of Science and Innovation HS - Hazelwood was All- State as a Junior, has strong base and the IQ to play both forward positions on both offense and defense. Extremely disciplined defensively in staying vertical when contesting shots. He also possesses the ball handling and passing ability to play guard as well. Relentless rebounder.


Jake Jones (2020) 6’5 swing, Weston High (CT) - Jones is a very high academic who has had some unlucky injury timing limit his exposure. He is long and mobile and has the ability to shoot the 3 pointer. Very bright, hard playing and coachable. Will be a steal for whatever top academic school discovers and lands him.

 

Michael Lucas (2020) 6’3 wing, Brooklyn Law and Tech HS - Lucas is very athletic and can shoot from the perimeter. 85 GPA.


Johan Nziemi (2020) 6’5 Norman Thomas HS, AAU team: Pro Level Titans n- Position: An extremely athletic swingman, with a high basketball IQ. He just picked up basketball two years ago.  He is an i mproving defender, shot blocker, but needs to improve his consistency , add more strength to his frame, and more playing experience.


David Nisbet III (2020) 5’8 New Dorp HS, AAU Team: NYC Chargers - Nisbet is a strong and very coachable guard with a great work ethic. He is a very good 3 point shooter, and will attack the paint when needed. He looks to get his team involved and probes the defense to get easy offense.

 

Jaylin Palmer (2020) 6’2 point guard, Woodstock Academy (CT) AAU Team: Diamond Basketball Club - Palmer is an explosive PG who has the ball on a string and next level vision. Palmer’s stock should continue to rise he gets the enhanced visibility in this upcoming post-graduate season with Woodstock.

 

Guy Ragland, Jr (2020) 6’8 stretch PF, Northwest Catholic HS (CT), AAU Team: Diamond Basketball Club - Ragland is a very skilled Stretch PF that is perfect for today’s game. He’s receiving solid recruitment from schools in the Patriot League and America East, with an offer from the University of New Hampshire in hand.

 

Christian Rogers (2020) 6’5 forward, New Rochelle HS - Rogers has plenty of energy in the low post. He has a long wing span and uses his length to grab rebounds and block shots. He can also handle the ball on offense.

 

Cameron Shields (2020) 6’1 combo guard, St Edmunds Prep - Shields is a 3 year starter and a top 2 way guard who defends and gets to the basket. He averaged 10 points per game last season as junior.

 

Brandon Sechan (2020) 6’0 guard, New Canaan High (CT) - Sechan has skills. Tough to stay in front of, and can score from all three levels. He defnds the ball very well, and will routinely pick-pocket opposing point guards. Athletic and hard playing.

 

Jaren Smith (2020) 6’0 guard, Notre Dame -West Haven PG - Smith is an explosive and athletic guard. He excels at driving to the basket and making plays for others.


Quentar Taylor (2020) 6’2 point guard, Trumbll HS (CT) - Taylor is a quarterbacking PG with a great ball handle, and also uses his sturdy body well to relentlessly attack the rim. Although not a shoot-first player, he can keep the defense honest by knocking down the open shot. His best attributes are his IQ, vision, passing and overall natural feel for the game.


Heston Tucker (2020) 6’4 wing, Hamden HS (CT) - Tucker is a powerful and athletic wing player who posted 13 pts and 6 rbd per game as a junior. A two year starter who was selected as an All Southern Connecticut Conference performer in 2018. He is an high academic student who is receiving interest after his productive summer performance.

 

Jay Turner (2020) 6’3 guard, Notre Dame -West Haven PG - Turner is a big lead guard with great strength and size. He has the ability to control the tempo and game when he has the ball in his hands. A great vocal leader as well.

 

Omari Webb (2020) 6’6 wing, MacDuffie School (MA), Home Town: Long Island, NY -  Lots of upside, shoots it decent, can drive it, and plays with a little bit of bounce.  He is under the radar now but won’t be for long, once he plays NEPSAC ball for MacDuffie. Is getting D1/D2 Interest. Webb’s plan is to do a PG year unless a college team picks him up for the fall of 2020. Otherwise he will go 2 years prep.


Chris Wiggan 6’4 small forward, St Edmund Prep - Wiggan is a high energy player who rebounds, blocks shots, and runs the court. He is also an excellent student.

 

 


2021s

 

Lucas Basich (2021) 6’2 guard, Staples HS (Westport, CT) AAU Team: Academic Basketball Club - As a Sophmore, Basich was a key contributor on Staples Varsity team.  He is a lights-out shooter with beyond-college 3pt range, perfect for today game.  At 6’2” 185 pounds, with long arms and big hands, he is a broad and strong player able to finish through contact on drives and pull down boards. Basich also has terrific court vision, strong ball handing skills and is extremely coachable.

 

Ty Calloway (2021) 6’0 point guard, Enfield HS (CT), AAU Team:  Diamond Basketball Club - Calloway took his game to new levels this past Spring, as he was apart of the explosive and dynamic DBC backcourt that will be together for years to come. With a smooth three-level game, Ty is on the cusp of taking up the mantle as one of the CIAC’s top guards.

 

Peter Carey (2021) 6’9 forward, Frontier Regional (MA), AAU Team: Diamond Basketball Club - Carey is quite possibly the most hidden of gems, an athletic and versatile stretch forward with very high upside.

 

Gabe Charleston (2021) 6’5 swing, Westminster (CT), AAU Team: Diamond Basketball Club -Charleston is a high-flying wing who is currently turning himself into a versatile perimeter threat. He has one of the highest upsides in the state, and is poised for a massive couple of years with Westminster.

 

Malik Cole (2021) 6’3 guard, St Edmunds Prep - Cole has a basketball body and is excellent at getting to the basket. He scores from inside and out and rebounds like a center.

 

Kyle Dunn (2021) 6’1 wing, St Edmund Prep - Dunn is an excellent athlete and a 2 year starter. He is tough, finishes in traffic and runs the court. He also plays centerfield on the baseball team.

 

Seidina Doukoure (2021) 6’5 guard, Macduffie School (MA), Home Town: Bronx, NY - Doukoure can play inside and out. He was a forward in high school and has since converted his game to a guard spot. He has shown great improvement in last six months. Can shoot it (but needs more consistency).Strong to the basket - with some bounce.  He is a leader on and off the court, makes everyone around him better. Will keep getting better and better.

 

Jalen Gordon (2021) 6’3 swing, Capital Prep (Hartford, CT) - Gordon can handle the ball, pass, shoot and can defend both bigger and smaller players.

 

Isiah Folk (2021) 6’2 guard Brooklyn Law and Tech - Folk has a very strong build which enables him to be a strong driver to the basket. He can also hit the open jump shot. Plays good defense. 80 GPA

 

Ryan Howard (2021) 6’4 shooting guard, Greens Farms Academy (CT) Home Town: Darien, CT - As of now, Howard is possibly the best kept secret in Connecticut prep ball. Last winter, his minutes were limited due playing behind GFA’s All New England, MVP senior. This past spring, he started lighting up AAU 17u opponents, but then got sidelined through the summer with a surgery-required injury. He has a high release-point, long distance 3 point shot that can blow a game open. His excellent length and energy also feed his abilty to defend and rebound. A high academic.

 

Chris Hough (2021) 6’2 Capital Prep (Hartford, CT) - Hough is an athletic and long shooter who can also handle the ball.

 

Jordan Johnson-Morgan (2021) 6’0 guard, Brooklyn Law and Tech - Johnson-Morgan is explosively fast and a strong lockup defender. He sees the court well and is great at attacking the basket and finishing. 90 GPA

 

Elon Munroe (2021) 5’10 point guard, Sports & Medical Sciences Academy(CT) AAU Team: Diamond Basketball Club - A big piece of DBC’s future backcourt, Munroe has the makings of a next level pure point guard. He is poised for a big true junior season with SMSA.

 

Brian Nussbaum (2021) 6’2 shooting guard, Winchendon School (MA), Home Town: Cross River, NY - Nussbaum is a long range sniper who really makes the defense have to extend the floor, or pay a price for not extending. Gym rat work ethic, very coachable and a strong student.

 

Promise Opurum (2021) 6’5 wing, New Rochelle High - Opurum is a young forward who loves to score in the low post and is good at attacking the glass. Uses his height to intimidate smaller players and likes to run on offense.

 

Ben Pennella (2021) 5’11 point guard/shooting guard, Westhill High School(CT), Home town: Stamford, CT - Pennella is a all around player who can shoot it from three, handle the ball ,and can finish around the basket. Also can thread the needle with passes to teammates. Plays solid defense on and off the ball and communicates well with teammates. Hard worker on and off the court and is also very coachable.

 

Camryn Reyes (2021) 6’2 guard, Norman Thomas HS - Reyes is a very lengthy guard who can create his own shots and knock down jump shots from any spot on the floor and also has a good handle. His main strength is his outside shooting and has the capability to be a consistent threat from the perimeter. His tremendous work ethic is, among other things, improving his athleticism. He recently grew an inch and with two more years to develop he should be a scholarship player.

 

Mouhamed Seck (2021) 5’11 guard, Facing History HS - Per his AAU Coach, Seck is a great teammate who brings a positive attitude to the court. He is very athletic and his basketball IQ is constantly improving. His high school coach says Seck is an extention of him on the floor, and plays with high intensity on both ends.

 

Kamari Ware (2021) 6’2 guard, Brooklyn Law and Tech - Ware is long and crafty. He shoots the 3 ball well and plays good defense.

 

Jakai White (2021) 6’2 guard, Brooklyn Law and Tech - White is a very long and wiry body. He is a knock-down 3pt shooter and an explosive scorer. 90 GPA

 

 

2022s


Hayden Abdullah (2022) 6’7 small forward, Northwest Catholic HS (CT) - Abdullah combines his good length, mobility and motor into being an impact player. He has a reliable, high release mid-range jump shot. He has great vision and delivery in outletting his defensive rebounds. Runs the floor and brings energy to his team’s effort.

 

Donovan Clingan (2022) 7’0 Bristol Central HS (CT) - Clingan is a legitimate 7’0 tall as a high school sophomore. He already has an advanced sense how to use his height and lead his team in assists, collects the ball at the high post or wing, and finds open cutters and shooters with good passing skills. These playmaking skills, and his lenth to defend the rim and rebound already make him D1 useful. In the two-year meantime, he seems to have the agility and quickness to upgrade his own scoring skills.


Justin Covington (2022) 6’4 guard, St Lukes School (CT) Covington has a very styrong and mature body for a sophmore. Runs the pick-n-roll well in the ball handler role. Hits the undercontested 3pt shot.

 

Jeremiah Dorsey (2022) 5’9 point guard, Macduffie School (MA), Home Town: Queens, NY - Dorsey is a very skilled guard, shoots it well, and handles it well. He needs to get stronger, but is still young.


Jalen Elfe (2022) 5’9 Lehman Campus. Elfe has toughness written all over him. A steady PG with both midrange and 3pt shot making ability. He [lays both ends of the court and leads by example, both on and off of the court. 3.8 gpa

 

Quincy Ferguson (2022) 6’3 swing, Capital Prep, (Hartford, CT)  - Ferguson is a strong and physical guard with a very good jump shot out to 3 point range.


Jared Flaks (2022) 5’10 point guard, Avon Old Farms School (CT) - Flaks is a relentless “Energizer Bunny” on offense. He is a ball-dominant point guard who probes, slices, and attacks the defense in such a non-stop fashion, they can’t help but back off of him to slow the attack. Once they back-off, he can burn them with the under-contested 3pt splash. Brings that same energy as a disruptive force on defense as well.


JJ Gary (2022) 6’0 shooting guard, Harrison High - Gary is an excellent 3 point shooter, generous passer and a lefty who plays smart basketball.

 

Johnny McCain (2022) 6’0 shooting guard, Trumbull HS (CT) - McCain is a long range sniper who can also create off the dribble for himself and teammates. Consistent shooter with deep range and quick release. High basketball IQ. Good academics.

 

Brandon McCresh (2022) 6’1 shooting guard, Knox School - McCresh is a true two way player, he’s a knock down shooter with great range and a lock down defender. He has a high IQ for the game is a excellent team player. Good student.

 

Keyshawn Mitchell (2022) 6’7 swing, Capital Prep , Hartford, CT - Mitchell is a D1 college-sized swing man who is crafty with the ball, has both the ability to get to the basket and shoot the 3.

 

Gregory Ricketts (2022) 5’5 guard, Brooklyn School of Law and Tech - Ricketts is super quick and a strong perpetrator, runs the team well. He has excellent court vision and is a strong and quick defender.  80 GPA

 

Tyrell Staples-Santos (2022) 6’1 point guard, Kolbe Cathedral High School (CT) AAU Team: Premier Hoops Development. Staple-Santos is a floor general with a very high basketball IQ.  He has a nice mid-range jumpshot with great court vision and ball handling skills. He also has unlimited range on his three point shot.

 

Cole Wissink (2022) 6’1 Cheshire Academy (CT) - Wissink has an solid and athletic body that is built to excell in basketball. Among other things, he features a drive-jump stop-pump and pivot playmaking game that translates really well against the next level’s rim protector and help-defense schemes.

 

 

2023s


Rhandyn Bair (2023) 5’11 guard, Northwest Catholic (CT) - Bair is a non-stop force of energy all over the court. He is quick, he is intense, he is everywhere. Disruptive on defense, both on the ball and as a help-defender.  Probing and active play maker on offense.

 

Jarel Delgato (2023) 5’9 point guard, Wilbur Cross High (CT) - Delgato looks like a weight-room addict, quick, dangerous and “strong like bull”. He is varsity built and skilled already as a freshman. Can shoot the long ball, crafty in the paint and a high level defender.

 

Spencer Fuller Wright (2023) 6’5 center, St Lukes School (CT) Home Town: New Canaan, CT - Fuller-Wright is a massively broad and strong post player. Has an excellent finishing touch over either shoulder. Draws fouls and his consistent in making his free throws. His bulk creates the space to make him a effective rebounder. His current ability to run hard in transition is a weak spot, to be determined whether that changes as his big body matures. Too physically dominant to play against his own age group so has been playing with and against varsity players since he was in eight grade.

 

Christian Jones (2023) 6’3 guard, St Thomas More (CT) - Jones has a very strong, athletic and mature body for a freshman. Plays with great bounce and energy. The mid-range jumper is there now, which bodes well for him to eventually extend it out to college 3pt range.
