2019 Tru Ballaz Pre-Season Classic Top Performers - 9/17

On Tuesday, September 17,  RecruitTheBronx.com was at Frederick Douglass Academy III in the South Bronx for the annual Tru Ballaz Pre-Season High School Classic, as Mount St. Michael (CHSAA) squared off against Thurgood Marshall Academy (PSAL) and St. Raymond (CHSAA) squared off against Frederick Douglass Academy III (PSAL), the host school. Here are the standouts for Tuesday night’s action:

 

Ibrahim Wattara, 6-5, Swing, Mount St. Michael Academy, Class of 2020 - Wattara is a very frequent vistor to the RTB Top Performer notes. He is a guard who can also play the three and four positions. He makes strong moves to the basket and can absorb physical contact. He is good for putting the ball on the floor and has plenty of athleticism, and the ability to play above the rim. He is a solid rebounder, as his physical frame allows for him to hold his own on the boards.

 

Tyler Hawkins, 6-0, Point Guard, Mount St. Michael Academy, Class of 2022 - Hawkins is quick, has good moves to the basket and is solid as a playmaker. He has good court vision and the ability to see where his teammates are moving so that he can make assists. He also has the defense-stretching ability to shoot from long-range.

 

Malik Pringle, 6-1, Shooting Guard, Mount St. Michael Academy, Class of 2020 - Pringle is at defensive pressure and knows how to play his man. He can bring the ball up and can find ways to get it to his teammates. He is a player that knows his role.

 

Noah Best, 6-3, Shooting Guard, Mount St. Michael Academy, Class of 2022 - Best is a high-volume shooter and can generate a lot of points. He is able to get to the basket easily and can absorb physical contact when getting into the lane. Also loves to shoot from long range and go for pull-up jumpers.

 

Chris Jenkins, 6-7, Forward, Mount St. Michael Academy, Class of 2020 - Jenkins has good size and fluid moves in the low post. He who blocks shots and reacts to opponents very quickly on defense. He is very alert in crashing the boards.

 

Damani Hanks, 5-9, Point Guard, Thurgood Marshall Academy, Class of 2022 - Hanks knows how to play defense and can stay on his man when needed. He is a good facilitator, as he knows when and where to give his teammate the ball at the right moment.

 

Kayson Dinkins, 6-4, Swing, Thurgood Marshall, Class of 2020 - Dinkins ia forward who can play on the perimeter and can handle the ball on the wing. He has a long wingspan that allows him to get by defenders and also obtain rebounds. Is also a play that is quick and can run in the fast break.

 

Anthony Harris, 6-0, Shooting Guard, Thurgood Marshall, Class of 2023 - Harris is a freshman with plenty of length, who is able to spread the court. He can command the ball and knows when to take shots and can attack. Has the ability to rebound and plays hard when he’s on the floor.

 

Kevin Dinkins, 6-4, Swing, Thurgood Marshall Academy, Class of 2020 - Dinkins is tough and with his length can either get past or post up his defender and also absorb contact. Can handle the ball on the perimeter and chooses pass the ball to teammate that are moving on the break or can take a shot.

 

Nelson Sanchez, 5-7, Point Guard, Thurgood Marshall Academy, Class of 2022 - Sanchez likes to run on the break and is lightning-quick. He likes to shoot from the corner and takes every opportunity he can to score, that includes getting to the free-throw line.

 

Francesk Plumaj, 6-1, Wing, St. Raymond High School, Class of 2021 - Plumaj can get up and down the court and is able to distribute the ball to his teammates, as well as using his dribble to get to the hole. He is a good rebounder and can do all the little things that is asked of him on the court.

 

Jermaine Wheeler, 6-5, Swing, St. Raymond High School, Class of 2020 - Wheeler is a strong presence in the low post and can hold his own in the paint vs. high school opponents. He able to make plays off of the dribble and can score in bunches. A fearless rebounder. Can absorb physical contact when going up for a basket.

 

Ronnie Moye, 5-7, Point Guard, St. Raymond High School, Class of 2021 - Despite his small frame, he is able to get to the basket and can distribute the ball to his teammates at a fast rate. Is very quick and deceptive and has a very high IQ when ok the court.

 

Isiah Fibert, 5-9, Point Guard, St. Raymond High School, Class of 2022 - Fibert has a deceptively good wingspan and is able to get steals and get after the ball. He has a nice shooting touch from the outside and can pass the ball to his teammates as well. Great at seeing the court and knowing where his teammates are at, so he can spread the court and distribute.

 

Elijah Castillo, 6-0, Shooting Guard, St. Raymond High School, Class of 2022 - Castillo is quick and is able to get baskets efficiently and score efficiently on the break. If not contained, he will take advantage, as he likes to run in transition and can also shoot from long range.

 

Kidar Edwards, 6-4, Forward, St. Raymond High School, Class of 2022 - Edwards is very strong and imposing with his build. Has plenty of toughness and is able to hold his own in the paint area. He is able to get rebounds efficiently and can attack in transition.

 

Sayvion Smith, 5-11, Point Guard, Frederick Douglass Academy III, Class of 2021 - Smith has plenty of intensity on the court and is very fearless when going to the basket. Is not afraid of physical contact, as he is able to get to the hole, and draws fouls on the way. He shoots at a high-volume, but also has a high IQ at the point guard position.

 

Delbert Andujar, 5-10, Point Guard, Frederick Douglass Academy III, Class of 2020 - Andujar can run in transition and can facilitate in the open lane. He is able to defer to his teammates. Although he does not score much, he plays well as a facilitator to his teammates.

 

Kenneth Shippe, 6-1, Shooting Guard, Frederick Douglass Academy III, Class of 2023 - A young freshman, but with a long wingspan who likes to play defense. He is able to get steals and can run in the fast break and can attack in transition, as he is able to get down the court in a timely fashion. He has a lot of tenacity as he is able to play defense and can stay in front of his man at all times.

 

Adrohn Jaiteh, 5-11, Shooting Guard, Frederick Douglass Academy III, Class of 2021 - Jaiteh is quick and has plenty of strength when going to the basket. Is very alert on the defensive end and with his good hands is able to get steals every time.
