2019 Beacon 158 Top Performers - 9/23

On Monday night, September 23, RecruitTheBronx.com made our third visit out to this year’s Beacon 158 Tournament. On this night, we got to check out the action between Cardozo High and Elmont High and the matchup between St. John The Baptist and Deer Park. Here are the standouts from the games.


Isiah Barnes, 5-10, Point Guard, Elmont High School, Class of 2020 - Barnes makes smart moves when he’s on the court and is a good decision maker when it comes to knowledge of when to shoot or when to distribute. He is a good facilitator that knows when and where to hit his teammates for passes.

 

Jeremiah Banatte, 5-10, Shooting Guard, Elmont High School, Class of 2020 - Boratte can handle the ball on the perimeter and has the ability to be a slasher to the basket. He is very quick on defense and is able to get steals by guarding his man intensely. He is also a good shooter from three-point range.

 

Jevon Santos, 5-8, Poing Guard, Elmont High School, 2020 -  Santos is a good on-the-ball defender who can make the opposition nervous as he is good at sliding his feet and staying with his man. He is very quick when getting up and down the floor and is a good facilitator when it comes to passing the ball to his teammates.


Randolph Charles, 5-11, Shooting Guard, Elmont High School, Class of 2020 - Charles has the ability to play well on the wing and always looks for the best shot. He is good at spacing out and getting open to receive the ball. He is also a good defender with length and is always alert when it comes to handling his man.

 

Jordan Lawson, 6-1, Swing, Elmont High School, Class of 2020 - Lawson can play both on the perimeter and in the low post. He is very fearless of contact and gets to the basket with no problem. Good for getting rebounds and also has the ability to knock down the three-point shot.

 

Emmanuel Asante, 6-2, Forward, Elmont High School, Class of 2020 - Asante is a physical specimen who could attack the basket easily, and is best known for his strength. He has good physicality, which aided in him getting rebounds and also in taking contact when going up to the basket.

 

Isaiah Wright, 6-2, Shooting Guard, Cardozo High School (B), Class of 2022 - Wright is quick in transition and loves to run on the fast break. He is good at getting to the basket and can also absorb contact when getting into the lane. Has a high motor and is the team’s best offensive threat.

 

Damion Edwards, 5-3, Point Guard, Cardozo High School (B), Class of 2023 - Edwards plays bigger than his height. He knows where to be at all times and can stay in front of his man on defense. He is good at facilitating the ball to his teammates and has excellent court vision.

 

Ryan Williams, 6-0, Shooting Guard, Cardozo High School (B), Class of 2022 - Williams is quick and fearless on the floor. When going up to score in the lane, he shows plenty of explosion and is unafraid of contact and getting fouled. He makes good strides on defense and is very alert when guarding his man.

 

Jaden Dowdell, 6-3, Forward, Cardozo High School (B), Class of 2022 - Dowdell is very mobile and agile in the paint despite his solid frame. He is good at moving around the basket and is good at trailing for rebounds. He finds the best opportunity to score at all times.

 

Jaequan White, 6-4, Forward, Deer Park High School, Class of 2021 - White has a big body and long wingspan that results in him getting rebounds and blocking shots on the defensive end. He struggles with a lack of offense, but is solid at getting putbacks and makes up for it when it comes to his post play on defense.

 

Malik Edmead, 6-0, Point Guard, Deer Park High School, Class of 2020 - Edmead is a potent scorer and has a knack for making strong drives to the basket. He has an affinity for shooting jumpers from the top of the key and is also a good passer. He has good hands, which enable him to get steals on the defensive end.

 

D’Andre Edwards, 5-9, Point Guard, Deer Park High School, Class of 2021 - Edwards is a good playmaker at the one position and is very unselfish when it comes to distributing the ball to his teammates. He is good at hitting the open man, which leads to teammates getting baskets. He also has a penchant for getting steals on the defensive end.

 

Kyle Jefferson, 5-10, Shooting Guard, Deer Park High School, Class of 2022 - Jefferson is a good defender who can stay with his man and is also quick on both ends of the court. He has the ability to shoot from deep, but can be streaky.

 

Preston Edmead, 5-3, Point Guard, Deer Park High School, Class of 2024 - The youngest and smallest player on the court is very tough and is very poised when on the court. He has good tenacity on the defensive end as he is not afraid of a challenge and is good at directing his team at the one position. He loves to facilitate and calling out plays.

 

Justin Ruffillo, 6-1, Shooting Guard, St. John The Baptist, Class of 2022 - Ruffillo can do many things on the court. He has the ability to create for himself when it comes to handling the ball. Good at attacking the basket, but is also deadly from three-point range.


Roddy Jones, 5-9, Point Guard, St. John The Baptist, Class of 2023 - For a freshman, Jones makes smooth moves and is good at getting past defenders. He knows when and where to be on the defensive end.


Donovan De La Rosa, 6-4, Swing, St. John The Baptist, Class of 2021 - De La Rosa is explosive and can grab rebounds efficiently. He is very strong and is able to get the ball and push up the floor like a guard. He is able to shoot from the perimeter and drive to the hole.

 

Jacob Brandly, 6-4, Forward, St. John The Baptist High School, Class of 2023 - Brandly likes to play in the low post and for a freshman is very physical in the paint and finds ways to score in the post. He is good at playing his position as far as boxing out and handling the player he’s guarding in the low post.

 

Michael Welton, 6-3, Swing, St. John The Baptist High School, Class of 2022 - Welton is good at moving around on the court and using his length to get past defenders. He is also able to put the ball on the floor and show off his versatility. He has the ability to shoot from long range and is able to attack the glass and get rebounds efficiently.
