2019 Tru Ballaz Pre-Season Classic Top Performers - 10/1

RecruitTheBronx.com opened the month of October by dropping in on another night of the Tru Ballaz Pre-High School Classic at Frederick Douglass Academy III in the South Bronx. We got to see two games as Brooklyn Collegiate (PSAL) squared off against Iona Prep (CHSAA) and Frederick Douglass Academy III (PSAL) squared off against The Dwight School (PSAA). Here are the standouts from Tuesday’s games:

 

Majesty Johnson, 5-8, Point Guard, Brooklyn Collegiate High School, Class of 2020 - Johnson has compiled a very long RTB profile. Again, we saw a guard who is a solid playmaker that finds ways to get his teammates the ball leading them to baskets. He has the ability to drive to the basket and is fearless when going to the hole. Is also a good defender when guarding his man and does not back down from a challenge.

 

Tahron Allen, 6-4, Shooting Guard, Brooklyn Collegiate High School, Class of 2021 - Allen is a versatile offensive player,can both bring the ball up, play on the perimeter, and hold his own in the paint area. He has the ability to shoot from the outside and is a player that likes physical contact when going to the hole. He also gets in to get rebounds away from the opposition.

 

Kelechi Okworogwo, 6-6, Forward, Brooklyn Collegiate High School, Class of 2022 - Okworogwo is a force in the low post and is reliable for rebounds and blocked shots. He is very athletic, has a nice shooting touch, and is able to put the ball on the floor. He gives his team plenty of energy when on the court.

 


Amahrie Simpkins, 6-4, Forward, Brooklyn Collegiate High School, Class of 2020 - Simpkins has a long wingspan and can handle the ball on the perimeter. He likes to drive to the hole and is a player who finds multiple ways to score. He is also good with his hands defensively and looks to get steals.

 

Tyreke Harewood, 6-7, Forward, Brooklyn Collegiate High School, Class of 2021 - Harewood is physical and can attack the glass for rebounds and also has the ability to get blocks. He is a large specimen that is able to do the glue work for his team and is a solid force in the low post as a scorer.

 

Kevon Ferguson, 6-6, Forward, Brooklyn Collegiate High School, Class of 2020 - Ferguson does the glue work in the low post, such as getting rebounds. He a good defensive presence that can aid his team in getting blocks and protect the rim. He is able to be a force on the both ends of the court. Uses his physical frame to get to the hole and is able to get inside to score.

 

RJ Greene, 6-5, Shooting Guard, Iona Preparatory School, Class of 2022 - Greene is physical when going to the basket and can absorb contact when going into the lane. He is very athletic and is also a good rebounder. Provides plenty of energy for his team on both ends of the court and has plenty of hustle and is able to get steals. Is able to block shots as well.

 

Isaac Gonzalez, 6-1, Point Guard, Iona Preparatory School, Class of 2022 - Gonzalez is deceptively fast on the floor and knows to pick his spots as far as his shot selection and giving the ball to his teammates. He uses his quickness to get past his defender and get to the rim. He is good at picking apart his opponent for steals.

 

Keeshawn Jones, 6-3, Shooting Guard, Iona Preparatory School, Class of 2020 - Jonesis a tough defender and looks to snatch the ball from the opposition every time. Offensively, he is good at penetrating to the lane and can make strong moves to the basket, which also yields him And-ones.

 

Vidrew McQueen, 6-0, Point Guard, Iona Preparatory School, Class of 2020 - McQueen can make plenty of moves to the basket and can also get past his defender when it comes to him having the ball. He is a player that is very quick and deceptive in creating for himself.

 

Dylan Farley, 6-4, Forward, Iona Preparatory School, Class of 2021 - Farley is a physical specimen when going up for a basket in the low post. He sets his post moves up well with the dribble. He is agrressive at getting rebounds and is good at absorbing physical contact in the paint.

 

Sayvion Smith, 5-11, Point Guard, FDA III, Class of 2021 - Smith is very fearless when going to the basket, absorbs the physical contact well. It gets him both baskets and free throws. He can score the ball from every place on the court.

 

Delbert Andujar, 5-10, Point Guard, FDA III, Class of 2020 - Andujar likes to run in transition and is good at facilitating to his teammates.  He can penetrate to the lane and attack the basket when on the move. He also has the ability to shoot from long range and is quick when getting up and down the floor.

 

Kenneth Shippe, 6-1, Shooting Guard, FDA III, Class of 2023 - A freshman guard with a long wingspan and is able to get rebounds. He is very quick, able to get steals and likes to run in the fast break in transition. He has the ability to play defense and stays in front of his man at all times.

 

Adrohn Jaiteh, 5-11, Shooting Guard, FDA III, Class of 2021 - Jaiteh is quick and deceptive when on the break and has plenty of strength, which aids when going to the basket. He is very alert on the defensive end and with his good hands, and is able to get steals.

 

Juan Rodriguez, 5-9, Shooting Guard, FDA III, Class of 2020 - Rodriguez is fast and is able to read his man to get past him offensively. Defensively, he is good at guarding his man and using his footwork and hands to get steals.

 

Alex Putzer, 6-3, Forward, Dwight School, Class of 2020 - Putzer is able to run in transition and knows when to penetrate into the lane and when to pass to his teammates. he is a good rebounder and is able to get to the basket efficiently. Gives his team much-needed energy when they are on the floor.

Chaz Jackson, 5-11, Point Guard, Dwight School, Class of 2021 - Jackson is the engine that drives his team. He is a player that knows when to hit his teammates for shots and finds ways to score, whether it’s getting to the lane or hitting a jumper. He is great at guarding his man heavily on defense and is very successful at getting steals.

 

Johnik Moores, 6-2, Shooting Guard, Dwight School, Class of 2022 - Moores has a great first step, which gets him into the lane easily to create for himself. He is solid at getting to the line and can also hit a jumper from the top of the key. Is also able to get steals on the defensive end.

 

Nick Padilla, 5-5, Point Guard, Dwight School, Class of 2023 - Padilla can bring the ball up the court and is able to make the right passes on offense. He has good IQ and superb court vision. Is very strong and fast at driving to the basket.

 

Ethan Chassine, 6-7, Forward, Dwight School, Class of 2022 - A college-length forward who is a true, physical force in the paint area for his team. He is a key rebounder.
