2019-20 Our Savior New American Season Preview

Everything is shiny and new at Our Savior New American this year. New coach, new players and joining the Private School Athletic Association for the first time.

George Holmes, the new Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at OSNA, knows his team is young and inexperienced, but also knows they have an upside. “I have two high motor and high IQ junior year guards; Gerald Saint Laurent and Brendyn Cheng. Gerald’s strengths are his high basketball IQ, raw talent, play-making abilities and 3pt shot. Brendyn boosts his raw talent with a high IQ, defensive energy, toughness and play-making skills.

On the wings I have two talented, sophomore year players who can mix it up,  Aaron Nyantakyi and Danil Voskoboinikov. Aaron’s huge upside is shaped by his athleticism, versatility and rebounding abilities. Danil’s ability to shoot the ball and make smart decisions on the court makes him an asset to the team.

Last but not least, I have a junior year big man with a huge wingspan.  Hunter Crawford measuring at 6’9’’ can run the floor and defend.  He brings height and can grab rebounds.”

So the pieces are there, and Coach Holmes will be working hard to get them all to work together.  They are focused on preparing to go up against the likes of Majestic Mapp’s and the winning crew at the Knox School in the PSAA West Division. It should be a fun and growth-filled run!
