Notre Dame – West Haven Post Grad 2019-20 Season Preview

This scholastic year, Notre Dame–West Haven (CT) has begun a Post Grad basketball program. The team will be coached by former Woodstock Academy (CT) coach, Nick Defoe and will participate in the prep school Power 5 AA Division for its conference play.

This team will consist of only student-athletes who have already graduated high school and will not impact nor take the place of the Notre Dame-West Haven high school team that has been long affiliated with the Southern Connecticut Conference and Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC).

The Post Grad team’s inaugural roster is a collection of some of last year’s strongest seniors in the CIAC.

Fabian Cox (2020) 6’7 forward, Home Town: Hamden, CT – Cox is a strong, athletic, mobile big man who is active on the boards. He has an ability to face-up and score, or play back-to-the-basket offense with great foot work.

Kyle Daniels (2020) 5’9 guard, Home Town: New Haven, CT – At the Elite 75 Academic Experience in March, NERR scout said “Daniels was shooting it well from three, showing a good handle and even making his teammates better with his passing ability when he was playing within the flow of the game.”

AJ Edwards (2020) 5’11 guard, Home Town: New Haven, CT – Recruits of CT named Edwards as one of the Top 20 Seniors in the state after last winter’s season. Edwards has the ability to score from behind the arc, on mid-range pull-ups, and at the rim, while simultaneously creating scoring opportunities for his teammates.

Gaeley Etienne (2020) 5’4 point guard, Home Town:  Waterbury, CT – Named the Outstanding Defensive Player in Waterbury last season.

DeJean Ransom (2020) 6’0 guard, Home Town: Meriden, CT – Ransom is Meriden’s All Time Leading Scorer, with more than 2,000 points.

Jordan Riley (2020) 6’3 guard, Home Town: Windsor, CT - An explosive lead guard with a very quick first step, Riley has an all-around game that can take over any game he is in.  He has an ability to make shots off the bounce or catch, finish in traffic, and elevate to rebound with his explosiveness.

John Lukau (2020) 6’4 wing, Home Town: Naugatuck, CT - Named to the CHSCA All State Team last year, GameTime CT 2018-19 All State Honorable Mention and All Naugatuck Valley League.

Kerwin Prince (2020) 6’6 forward, Home Town: Waterbury, CT – Named to USA Today Connecticut All State Team last year.

Justin Radford (2020) 6’7 forward, Home Town: Hamden, CT – An athletic forward with soft hands and explosive ability to finish in the paint, a solid college prospect.

Jaren Smith (2020) 6’0 guard, Home Town: New Haven, CT – Smith is an explosive and athletic guard. He excels at driving to the basket and making plays for others.

Jay Turner (2020) 6’3 guard, Home Town: Waterbury, CT – Turner is a big lead guard with great strength and size. He has the ability to control the tempo and game when he has the ball in his hands. A great vocal leader as well.

Jordan Williams (2020) 6’6 forward, Home Town: New Haven, CT - Williams is very physical in the paint. He is using his PG year to expand that game, now shooting the 15 footer well.

Timmond Williams (2020) 6’4 wing, Home Town: Trumbull, CT – Williams is long and athletic, and uses that to take big strides to get to the basket with ease.  He has been shooting at an improved clip, as well, and make plays off ball screens to get his teammates involved.
