2020 CHSAA A Division Semifinals - Top Performers

On Tuesday, RecruitTheBronx.com paid a visit to Christ the King High School in Middle Village, Queens for the CHSAA A Division semifinals. The two games were Fordham Prep vs. Monsignor Farrell and LaSalle vs. St. Edmund Prep. Here are the standouts:

 

Justin Zieris (2020) 6-0, Point Guard, Monsignor Farrell High School - Zieris is quick and deceptive and is able to get his shot off effectively. Has plenty of skill and knows how to make plays at a fast rate when he’s on the floor. Is always alert on the defensive end and is good for getting steals.

 

Patrick Gardner (2021) 5-10, Shooting Guard, Monsignor Farrell High School - Gardner can run a team and is able to facilitate on the floor and create his shot. When he is left open on the floor, he can cause plenty of damage to the opposition.

 

Joseph Fieumfreddo (2021) 6-0, Swing, Monsignor Farrell High School - Fieumfreddo can play in and outside of the perimeter and is active on the floor. Is good at getting rebounds and is great at crashing the boards for rebounds.

 

Jack Fitzgibbons (2021) 6-0, Shooting Guard, Monsignor Farrell High School - Fitzgibbons is a defensive wizard when he is on the floor. Is great at moving around on the floor when it comes to passing the ball around the perimeter and looks to give his teammates the ball in the right places.

 

Matthew Hanley (2022) 6-4, Forward, Monsignor Farrell High School - Hanley is very mobile and can see where his teammates are moving on the floor and is able to pass them the ball. Is great for anticipating the ball so that he can complete the plays as he is easily able to score.

 

Nate Boateng (2022) 6-5, Forward, Fordham Preparatory School - Boateng is a strong player that can make his presence felt in the low post with his long wingspan and can take advantage when the opposition does not box out on the floor. Is good at crashing the boards for rebounds and finds multiple ways to score on the floor.

 

Ryan McPartlan (2021) 6-3, Shooting Guard, Fordham Preparatory School - McPartland will score in bunches and is always ready to score. Loves to drive into the lane and can see different spots on the court that he shoot from. Is not afraid of physical contact when going into the lane or getting up in the low post for the rebounds.

 

Alex Russo (2020) 6-0, Point Guard, Fordham Preparatory School - Russo can make a great impact when he’s on the floor. Is a player that has a lot of scoring traits, but is also someone that can run the floor and control the tempo for his team.

 

Mark Osime (2020) 6-2, Shooting Guard, Fordham Preparatory School - Osime is good at shooting from the perimeter and can make a lot of moves when he has the ball on the perimeter. Has a good IQ & can score in bunches. Is a tenacious defender that can stay in front of the opposition.

 

Michael Carothers (2021) Jr., 5-9, Point Guard, LaSalle Academy - Carothers is quick and deceptive and is active on both ends. Is the engine that makes the team go. Plays tough hard-nosed defense and is fearless when going to the basket. Has good hands and is able to get steals. Is a good shooter from three-point range.

 

Branden Pannell (2021) 6-2, Forward, LaSalle Academy - Pannell is very hard working and gives plenty of effort on both ends of the floor, as he can put the ball on the floor and likes to run in transition. Has plenty of passing abilities and is a solid rebounder. Also has the ability to drive to the basket and hit jumpers from the perimeter. Is able to take contact when driving into the lane.

 

Dylan Harney (2020) 6-5, Forward, LaSalle Academy - Harney is a strong force in the low post that isn’t afraid to get physical on both ends of the game. Is good for blocking shots and getting rebounds in the low post. On occasion, he has a good inside game on the offensive end.

 

Amadou Kouyate (2020) 6-0, Shooting Guard, LaSalle Academy - Kouyate has plenty of hustle in his game which allows him to put forth maximum effort for his team. Is able to get to the basket easily and absorb physical contact. Is able to create for himself when he looks to score.

 

Joshua Nolberto (2020) 6-2, Small Forward, LaSalle Academy - Nolberto can give his team some solid minutes on the floor and can also handle the ball on the perimeter. Has the ability to play defense proficiently when it comes to staying with the opposition.

 

Shemar Latty (2020) 6-0, Point Guard, St. Edmund Preparatory High School - Latty is a natural-born leader on the floor. Is good for delivering the ball to his teammates in the right places and can get past his defender with plenty of quickness. His biggest strength is defense, as he has good hands and can force the opposition into a turnover. Has a good jumper from three-point range.

 

Sean Edwards (2020) 6-4, Shooting Guard, St. Edmund Preparatory High School - Edwards is scrappy, hard-working and can do plenty of things in the low post or the. Is a good rebounder and can play defense when needed. Is a good shooter from long range that can also drive to the basket.

 

Cameron Shields (2020) 6-1, Shooting Guard, St. Edmund Preparatory High School - Shields is shifty and loves to use his quickness on both ends of the court. Is a good facilitator to his teammates & is able to get a good shot off whenever he has the opportunity. Is fearless when driving to the hole for a layup.

 

Malik Cole (2020) 6-3, Forward, St. Edmund Preparatory High School - Cole has plenty of toughness in his build and can be very physical when going up for rebounds. Is very aggressive on the low block and has good hands when it comes to blocking shots. Has a penchant for scoring in transition.

 

Chris Wiggan (2020) 6-4, Forward, St. Edmund Preparatory High School - Wiggan is able to create for himself and is able to use his length to snare passes from the opposition and can also block shots on the defensive end. Does whatever he has to help his team get baskets.
