2020 New York Lightning Training Camp

This past Saturday, RecruitTheBronx.com paid a visit to the Vale Sports Club in Middletown, Connecticut as the New York Lightning held their training camp and Media Day event. Their rising freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors all came out to compete and get live instruction from their coaches. Here were some of the standouts at the event:

 

Maximus Edwards (2021) 6-4, Shooting Guard, Our Saviour Lutheran School - Edwards is a guard that does it all on both ends of the court. He is a potent scorer that is a huge asset to his team as he is always ready to put the ball in the basket. Is very athletic on both ends of the court, as he is also a great shot blocker.

 

Mark Armstrong (2022) 6-3, Point Guard, St. Peter’s Preparatory School (NJ), Class of 2022 - Armstrong is both a great distributor and is able to get to the basket. He sees his teammates move down the court and he is ready hit them with a pass. Is a solid defender who will stay on the opposition. Has the ability to play above the rim and is great when leaping for rebounds.

 

Shemani Fuller (2021), 6-8, Forward, Woodstock Academy (CT) - Fuller is a forward who has plenty of versatility and can do many things on the court, including running the floor like a guard. He has great moves when he has the ball in his hand and can easily get to the basket. Loves to play above the rim.

 

Silas Sunday (2022) 7-0, Center, Our Saviour Lutheran School - Sunday is very strong and can make plenty of moves around the basket. He is a physical specimen that is a formidable force, especially when it comes to getting rebounds and blocking shots.

 

Jaquan Sanders (2022) 6-4, Shooting Guard, Our Saviour Lutheran School - Sanders loves to make great plays and is a big-time shooter, especially when being left open on the perimeter. He is also great at slicing through the lane and scoring. Showcases plenty of athletic ability.

 

Ibine Ayo Sadiku (2022) 6-6, Forward, Our Saviour Lutheran School - Sadiku has a slender frame which makes him active and mobile. He loves to jump, is able to attack the glass and also get to the rim. He can also block shots. He is very versatile, including the ability to put the ball on the floor.

 

Richard Nweke (2022) 6-7, Forward, Dwight School - Nweke is a strong forward who loves to play above the rim and makes powerful drives to the basket. He is very solid when going to the basket and is an efficient shot-blocker. Has a lot of strengthes at both ends of the court.

 

Zaire Williams (2022) 6-3, Shooting Guard, Eagle Academy II - Williams is a skilled scorer who is dominant whenever he has the ball in his hands. He has a potent jumpshot and can make many moves around the floor. Is a quick defender and is good at getting steals when on the defensive end.

 

Anthony Smith (2022) 6-8, Forward, Shippensburgh Senior High (PA) - Smith is a big bruising forward who makes an impact on the boards for his team and is a force in the paint. Is a good rebounder and loves to absorb physical contact. Is very skilled with his footwork.

 

Jahmere Tripp (2023) 6-5, Forward, Brooklyn Collegiate High School -Tripp is a versatile forward who is amazing with his handle and is good at getting to the basket. He has a little bit of flash that allows him to make good plays and be very strong when going to the hole. Is a great rebounder when he gets into the post.

 

Jacob Hogarth (2024) 6-8, Forward, Archbishop Stepinac High School - Hogarth is a player that is physically mature beyond his years and has plenty of strength. He can do multiple things on the court and is a player who can play above the rim and can hold his own with players his size and taller.

 

Akil Watson (2023) 6-8, Swing, Don Bosco Preparatory School (NJ) - Watson is a swingman who can put the ball on the floor and can make plenty of solid plays. He is able to make some great plays when at the basket and showcases plenty of athleticism on both ends of the floor.

 

Christian Jones (2023) 6-4, Shooting Guard, Our Saviour Lutheran School - Edwards is solid when going to the basket and has a good motor when it comes to getting down the court. Also loves to play above the rim and can put the ball on the floor when he has the ball in his hands.

 

Elliot Cadeau (2024) 6-1, Point Guard, Bergen Catholic High School (NJ) - Cadeau is a very smart point guard who makes slick moves and can see where his teammates are going at all times and also looks to find ways to score. Is able to get past his defender at a fast rate and has a superb jumpshot.

 

Jakai Sanders (2024) 6-2, Point Guard, Eagle Academy II - Sanders has jet-like quickness and is able to go after the ball on defense and get steals. He is very hard to contain when he gets the ball going to the basket, tough at absorbing physical contact when going up for a basket.
