St.Marys High School out of Manhasset, Long Island competes in the Nassau Suffolk Catholic High School Athletic Association. This winter, they will be starting the season with a lot of new faces.

Coach Ira Hunt will be relying on two of last year’s returning guards will keep St.Marys in the hunt for the title. 6’3 combo guard Darius Coleman (2022) and 6’1 point guard Jackson McEachern (2022). Coleman is one to watch. He can play both the point guard position and the two guard position. He has a great IQ for the game, and his court vision is also excellent. He’s a threat with the ball in his hands, as well as off-the-ball. Coleman is tough on defense as well. McEachern is as slick as they come with the ball in his hands. His long range ball keeps defenders at bay. His on-the-ball defense is second to none.

New comers up from a great freshman campaign are 6’2 multipurpose guard Tyler Castro (2023) and 6’3 sharp shooter Jaedon Hutchinson (2023). Rounding out Coach Hunt’s starting five will be 6’8 junior transfer Naishon Williams. Williams’ excellent length is undeniable, his impact in NSCHSAA play could be very significant in terms of rim protection and rebounding.

5’9 junior point guard Malik McDonald (2022) will be a key and will give quality minutes. He has good court awareness and tough defense. Samuel Murad (2023) will also be inserted to give quality minutes. Coach likes his all-around play.

Given their mix of veteran backcourt and fresh talent, Coach Hunt and his St.Marys team will be hard to handle this coming basketball season.
