Gauchos Roundball Classic - Top Performers 10/8/20

On Thursday night, RecruitTheBronx.com dropped into the Gauchos Gyn in The Bronx for the Gauchos Roundball Classic in which there were two games taking place. The first was between the Bronx Warriors (a team comprised of players from Cardinal Hayes High School) and Facts Over Opinion (a team comprised of players from All Hallows High School), and the second game was between the Queens Defenders (a team comprised of players from Christ the King High School) and Fordham Road (a team comprised of players from Fordham Preparatory School). Here are the standouts from the games:

 

Naszaire Simmons 6-2, Point Guard, Cardinal Hayes High School, Class of 2024, Bronx Warriors - A guard that can distribute the ball to his teammates and is able to get into the lane with precision. A guard that is able to see the court is a good passer. Despite his lithe frame, he is able to get into the lane easily.

 

Ian Jackson 6-3, Shooting Guard, Cardinal Hayes High School, Class of 2024, Bronx Warriors - A guard that has a strong build and is a player that can absorb physical contact. Is able to create for himself off the dribble. Loves to drive to the hole and is a great rebounder.

 

Tobe Awaka 6-5, Forward, Cardinal Hayes High School, Class of 2022. Bronx Warriors - A forward that is an enforcer in the low post and is able to get rebounds easily and can block shots in the post. His athleticism is off the charts and is known for throwing dunks. Is not afraid of absorbing physical contact on offense.

 

Tarique Foster 6-7, Forward, Cardinal Hayes High School, Class of 2022, Bronx Warriors - A guard that is a large frame and has the ability to run on both ends of the floor. Is very quick to get to the hole and is a great shot blocker on the defensive end. Is able to throw down dunks efficiently on the offensive end.

 

Daryl Victory 5-9. Point Guard, Cardinal Hayes High School, Class of 2022, Bronx Warriors - Is a guard that is quick and can control where his teammates are moving at all times. Has a great IQ and is able to figure out when to pass and when to score. Is able to get into the lane easily when it comes to scoring.

 

Eric Mejia 6-3, Shooting Guard, Cardinal Hayes High School, Class of 2024, Bronx Warriors - A guard that is able to create for himself on the floor and is able to get himself open on the perimeter. Is a great spot-up shooter when it comes to being out on the three-point line. Is able to drive to the basket.

 

Ahmed Toure 6-3, Forward, All Hallows High School, Class of 2022, Facts Over Opinions - A forward that can play inside and outside the paint area. Has great moves in the low post & can step out & shoot. Has great rebounding skills and runs the floor well.

 

Tyace Thompson 5-9, Point Guard, All Hallows High School, Class of 2022, Facts Over Opinions - A guard that is quick and efficient and is a player that can guard his defender through all lengths of the floor. Is a player that can see where his teammates are moving on all ends of the floor.

 

Jaden Kempson 6-0, Shooting Guard, All Hallows High School, Class of 2022, Facts Over Opinions - A guard that is fearless when going to the basket. Makes it easy to get to the lane and is good at staying with his man at all times. Is a player that can score at a high volume.

 

Ryan Cabrera 6-3, Forward, All Hallows High School, Class of 2022 Facts Over Opinions - A forward that uses his size and length to overpower his opposition. Is a forward that can make his presence felt on the low post and is able to attacking the boards to get rebounds.

 

Seydou Traore 6-5, Forward, All Hallows High School, Class of 2022, Facts Over Opinions - A guard that has plenty of length and is able to intimidate smaller defenders. Has plenty of physicality and is not afraid of contact when it comes to getting rebounds. Finds himself with plenty of scoring opportunities and is able to draw fouls easily.

 

Jake Okon 6-2, Shooting Guard, Fordham Preparatory School, Class of 2021, Fordham Road - A guard that makes smart decisions on the floor and is able to guard the opposition heavily. Is a good passer that knows when to set up his teammates for passes. Is a past-first guard that thinks mainly of his teammates before he gets to score.

 

Nathan Boateng 6-5, Forward, Fordham Preparatory School, Class of 2022, Fordham Road - A forward that is very strong at the rim and can make plenty of moves when going to the basket. Also has a great first step and a good book shot. Has great hands that allow him to block shots and grab rebounds.

 

Omari Ward 5-10, Point Guard, Fordham Preparatory School, Class of 2022, Fordham Road - A shifty guard that moves at many speeds. His jet-like quickness allows him to get past defenders and gets him towards the rim easily. Has a penchant for distributing the ball to his teammates and is good for stealing the ball.

 

Ryan McPartlan 6-3, Shooting Guard, Fordham Preparatory School, Class of 2021, Fordham Road - A guard that has a penchant for making tough shots. Loves to shoot from three-point range and can attack the basket when given the opportunity. Is able to get to the basket by driving to the lane, which is able to get to the hole.

 

Brandon Williams 6-7, Forward, Christ the King High School, Class of 2023, Queens Defenders - A forward with plenty of height that has a lot of strength and physical ability. He can shoot from long range, but finds ways to get to the basket. Is a good rebounder that is tough in the post.

 

Steven Solano 6-10, Forward, Christ the King High School, Class of 2024, Queens Defenders - A forward that is still getting used to the speed of the game, but has great size and is able to do plenty in the low post. Has the ability to block shots and grab rebounds.

 

Sterling Jones 5-11, Point Guard, Christ the King High School, Class of 2021 Queens Defenders - A guard that has good quickness and is a great scoring threat that can also dish it out to teammates. Has a penchant for driving to the lane and also shooting from three-point range. Is very hard to contain when he is open.

 

Jahlil Bethea 6-2, Shooting Guard, Christ the King High School, Class of 2023, Queens Defenders - A guard that is good at directing traffic at his position and knows where to move the ball at all times. Is a guard that loves to score and is not afraid of physical contact when going into the lane. Makes great decisions when handling the ball on the perimeter.

 

Zisi Blades 6-4, Forward, Christ the King High School, Class of 2021, Queens Defenders - A forward that knows where and when to be on the floor at all times. Can catch and shoot and also drive into the lane and knows how to score. Loves to get on the fast break and attack the lane.
