Gauchos Roundball Classic - Top Performers 10/17/20

On Saturday, RecruitTheBronx.com was back at the Gauchos Gym in The Bronx to check out the two games being played in the Gauchos Roundball Classic. The first between Showtime (a team comprised of players from PSAL Brooklyn AA Boys & Girls High School) and the Eagles (a team comprised of players from Evangel Christian School, a private school in Long Island City) and the second game was between the L.E.S. All-Stars (a team comprised of players from PSAL Manhattan A Murry Bergtraum High School) and the S.I. Warriors (a team comprised of players from PSAL Staten Island A Curtis High School). Below are the standouts from both games.

 

Khalil Brantley 6-0, Point Guard, Boys & Girls High School, Class of 2021, Showtime - A guard that is very explosive on the court and loves to score. Is able to split through defenders and get into the lane to get his baskets. Allows his teammates to feed off of his energy for him.

 

Devon Griffin, 5-10, Point Guard, Boys & Girls High School, Class of 2021, Showtime - A guard that is small in stature, but is built with toughness. Is not afraid to stand in front of his defender and take charges. Has plenty of confidence on the court and is able to get to the hole easily when it comes to offense.

 

Xavier Ryan Forward, 6-6, Boys & Girls High School, Class of 2021, Showtime - A forward that is strong and able to make great plays on the floor. Is a forward that can play above the rim and is able to showcase his athleticism in a couple of ways. Is great at blocking shots and getting rebounds.

 

Aubrey Nicholson 6-2, Shooting Guard, Boys & Girls High School, Class of 2021, Showtime - A guard that has quickness and athleticism on the court. Knows when and where to take a good shot when he has the ball on offense. Is great at using his quickness and getting to the hole easily when trying to score.

 

Abraham Rosario 6-8, Forward, Evangel Christian School, Class of 2024, Eagles - A forward that has plenty of size and is very mobile around the paint area. Has good hands and likes to block shots and obtain rebounds. Has the ability to get put backs to the basket.

 

Pedro Ortiz, 5-10, Shooting Guard, Evangel Christian School, Class of 2021, Eagles - A guard that has plenty of energy on the court and has jet-like quickness. Can run on the fast break and is able to get to the basket easily. Is very active on the defensive end and is likely to get steals.

 

Alan Garcia 6-3, Point Guard, Evangel Christian School, Class of 2022, Eagles - A guard that has a great IQ & feel for the point guard position. Puts his teammates in great position to get baskets and knows when and where to pass his teammates the ball at all times. Has quickness that allows him to get to the basket easily.

 

Dior Davis 6-0, Point Guard, Murry Bergtraum High School, Class of 2021, LES All-Stars - A guard that has plenty of poise in his game and is able to control the tempo of his team. Is a guard that can make plenty of plays on the floor. Is able to distribute the ball and is able to pick when and where to shoot or get to the basket on offense.

 

Cristian Davis 5-10, Point Guard, Murry Bergtraum High School, Class of 2023, LES All-Stars - A guard that has plenty of talent. Despite his small frame, he has a lot of energy when he’s on the floor. He is great at facilitating when on the fast break. Is very fast when controlling the ball on offense and is able to make plenty of steals when on the defensive end.

 

Cross Bandy, 5-11, Shooting Guard, Murry Bergtraum High School, Class of 2021, LES All-Stars - A guard that has plenty of scoring prowess. Loves to shoot from long range and has a quick first step when he’s on the floor. Has good defensive tendencies and is able to get steals on the break.

 

Keianu Woodard 5-10, Shooting Guard, Murry Bergtraum High School, Class of 2021, LES All-Stars - A guard that is able to make great plays on the offensive end, and is able to create for himself when he has the ball in his hands. A player that can get to the basket easily and can attack the basket with his quickness. Has a penchant for getting the ball to his teammates.

 

Cameron Sweeney 6-4, Forward, Murry Bergtraum High School, Class of 2021, LES All-Stars - A forward that has plenty of strength and is able to make his presence felt in the low post. Uses his strength to get to get rebounds and block shots. Is great at using his strength to muscle into the paint to get to the basket to score.

 

Michael Oyenkami 6-4, Forward, Curtis High School, Class of 2022, SI Warriors - A forward with strength and size in the low post that can block shots. On offense, he is a consistent scorer and also very athletic. Is a player that can play above the rim.

 

Jamal Evans, 6-1, Point Guard, Curtis High School, Class of 2021, SI Warriors - A guard that is good for setting up his teammates for baskets. A good distributor that has great IQ & is very alert when running a team. Has great court vision and uses it to his advantage when it comes to setting up his teammates for baskets.

 

Qadir Martin 6-4, Forward, Curtis High School, Class of 2023, SI Warriors - A forward that is great at imposing his presence in the paint area. Is very strong and is not afraid of physical contact when it comes to playing on the offensive end or the defensive end. Is able to score easily in the post.

 

Tolu Anjorin, 6-5, Forward, Curtis High School, Class of 2021, SI Warriors - A forward with great size and instincts on the floor. Has great hand and is good for blocking shots and grabbing rebounds. Is a player that can use his strength to get baskets and is able to absorb physical contact.

 

Alijah England 6-4, Forward, Curtis High School, Class of 2021, SI Warriors - A guard that is athletic and likes to run the floor. Is able to put the ball on the floor and create for himself on the offensive end. Knows how to get to the basket and is prone to drawing fouls so he can get to the free throw line.
