Suffield Academy, founded in 1833, is a co-ed private preparatory school located in a small New England town about 20 miles from Hartford, CT. It’s varsity boys basketball team is coached by Matt Fava and has long been a pipeline of players into the college ranks. They compete in the very competitive, seven state region, NEPSAC Class A. Their current line-up consists of the following:

#20 Zach Feller 6’5”, 2021 (Round Rock, TX): High Academic (3.8 GPA, 35 ACT). Superior athlete, knock-down shooter, natural leader, supportive teammate—- he is the whole package. He is a workhorse willing to do whatever his coach says to the best of his ability. Would have several division-one offers in any other year. Missed most of junior season with devastating concussion and most of senior year with mononucleosis; now COVID is holding back his recruitment. He is truly under-the-radar, even though that is an overused term. Somebody should watch his fall highlights and full practice film and trust their evaluation.

#43 Charles-André Robert 6’8”, 2021 (Quebec City, CAN): High Academic (3.9 GPA, 31 ACT). Good footwork and post-game, but also has accurate and confident range to 3pt. Passing is exceptional for a forward/post, and his ball handling is sufficient within an offense. Phenomenal kid, supremely coachable, incredibly bright. High level academic division-three recruit.

#30 Henry White 6’1”, 2022 (Simsbury, CT): Quick-twitch southpaw with lethal shooting stroke and the ability to get his own shot at any time. Definitely a scholarship talent and a kid who has already shown great growth since arriving here this fall. He wants to get better and can take hard coaching. Great kid, charismatic teammate, ultimate competitor.

#31 Harrison Hochberg 6’5”, 2022 (New York, NY): Catch-and-shoot driller who has added significant muscle to his frame, confidence to his game, and the ability to go off the dribble far more than last year. He loves the game and is determined to succeed.

#11 Alijah Lovelace 5’9”, 2022 (Brooklyn, NY): Lightning fast “water-bug” type point guard. He has a scorer’s mentality, but has significantly improved in his ability to read the play and find the open teammate. He is very capable of making plays for others and being a pest defender, which will ultimately be his calling card at the college level.

#50 Tyler McLaughlin-Darcy 6’7”, 2022 (New Lebanon, NY): Space-eating forward that commands position in the post and can stretch to 3pt. Has all the tools to be a successful college player and is working hard to put it all together.

#15 Jaiden Johnson 6’0”, 2023 (Staten Island, NY): Dynamic playmaker, a naturally charismatic leader, and a loyal teammate. Super-fast, can get in the lane at will, sees the floor, and defends hard. He is improving quickly and we are excited to see how good he can get at Suffield.

#35 Owen Moreira 6’6”, 2023 (Grafton, MA): High-level athlete learning the game at a fast pace. Has all the tools, and is willing to listen and learn how to best put those tools to use. Definitely a future scholarship kid.

#51 Idrissa Ballo 6’4”, G, 2023 (Harlem, NY): Raw athlete that has benefitted from the forced skill work the pandemic brought to all of us. If he commits to the fundamentals, he could end up being very good. Incredibly strong and athletic for a sophomore.
