Program Building at Faith Preparatory School

Last winter, Faith Preparatory School of New Milford, CT hired long time AAU coach and basketball skills trainer Michael “Big Fun” Acevedo to be their varsity basketball coach. Acevedo has since poured himself into the job, and is building a college prep program from the ground up. Accordingly, his focus has been on bringing in young, high ceiling talent and developing their skills.
His plan for the upcoming winter is to schedule other like minded programs. For example, he has already booked dates with South Kent School Developmental Team (CT) and The Capitol Prep Harbor School (CT). Per Coach Acevado, “We are here to give kids an opportunity to play New England prep school teams, but not have to board away from home.” For some families, the fact that there are faith based services offered daily at the schools is also an attractive feature.
A trio of key recruits have already helped Coach Acevedo start with a solid core.
Jahod Nash, Jr. (2028) 5’10 point guard - Nash is tremendous addition, already a prolific scorer, who also has great court vision. He can play full court man-to-man defense on any opponent.
Christian Morelli (2028) 5’3 point guard - Morelli is a smaller guard that uses that to his advantage to create off of the dribble, while ably protecting the ball. He has a high IQ for the game while the ball is in his hands. He has great ability to find open teammates and hit them with high quality passes. His strongest aspect could be his ability to shoot off the dribble and knock down shots from behind the arc.
Tyrese Wright (2027) 5’10 point guard - Wright is a muscular guard who gets to rim at well, and can score at all three levels. He is a committed defender, who can handle much bigger players.
