Darrow School is an independent, co-educational college-preparatory school for boarding and day students in grades 9-12 and PG. Its New Lebanon, NY campus is a 365-acre property just to the west of the boundary between New York and Massachusetts in the Taconic Mountains and within the Berkshire cultural region. Their mens’ basketball team is loaded with college prospects and plays in the very high level college prep basketball NEPSAC Class AA. Head coach Assane Sene was just hired into the professional ranks by the Detroit Pistons, the school reacted quickly, bringing in New England prep veteran Antonio Anderson. He will get support from Associate Coach Ray Pennucci and Player Development Assistant, Owen Carlson. Below are the player profiles for their 2023-24 team.

 

Kerv Blanc (2024) 6’7 Small forward from Haiti/Boston - Blanc is a very strong and lengthy wing who knocks down shots better than expected for his size. He has the ability to score and rebound the ball at a high clip. Blanc also uses his length and anticipation to get into the passing lanes and deflect. He is also a very skilled passer who sees the floor and is a true leader. He has added a ton of muscle and is a lot stronger than he was even just last year. He can play just about any position on offense and guard even more on defense. Blanc is a team captain.


Sekou Kourouma (2024) 6’1 point guard from Manhattan - Kourouma is a highly skilled true point guard with a great feel for the game. He is an excellent passer and sees the floor really well. He can score at all three levels, consistently knocking down threes, hitting mid-range pull-ups, and finding ways to finish at the rim through bigs of any size with his agility. Good defender who shoots the passing lanes well and has developed tremendously on the defensive end. He is a team captain and high honors student in the classroom.


Muneer Ibrahem (2024) 6’0 guard from Long Island - Ibrahem is an elite combo guard with great composure and work ethic. He has a motor that simply does not run out. He has great court vision and consistently makes the right pass. His handles and three-point shooting make him a big time scorer. He is a team captain despite being new to the school. 3.6 gpa


Cherano Calmez (2024) 6’6 small forward from The Netherlands - Calmez is an incredibly athletic forward who plays with a lot of passion and intensity. He puts in the extra work in his free time, and the results have been undeniable. He uses his strength in addition to his height to be effective inside on offense and defense. He is an elite-level athlete, both as it pertains to his speed as well as his build.


Chevinio Calmez (2024) 6’6” small forward from The Netherlands - Calmez is another incredibly athletic forward who plays with a lot of passion and intensity, but he has also developed his perimeter game and jump shot to be able to play more of a wing position. He also uses his size to be effective inside on offense and defense. He is an elite-level athlete, both as it pertains to his speed as well as his strength.


Aydan Torres (2024) 6’3 guard from Brooklyn - Torres is a highly-skilled combo guard who can also play the wing position. He is a very sneaky scorer who has the ability to consistently knock down shots from beyond the arc, both as a catch-and-shoot and while on the move, pulling up off the dribble.


Elia Varisco (2024) 6’3 guard from Italy - Varisco is an elite combo guard who can also play the wing position. He consistently hits threes and surprises with his slashing and finishing ability at all three levels. He is always in the gym working on his game. He has great composure, and his handles and three-point shooting make him a great scorer.

 

Ibrahim Gati (2025) 6’10 forward from Niger - Gati is an athletic big man who has been great at the five position and can play the four position as well, as he has developed his short range and mid range shooting ability effectively over the past year. This is definitely someone to keep an eye on while he continues to improve quickly.


Jaden Huckaby (2025) 6’4 wing from Atlanta - Huckaby is a lengthy wing with bounce and athleticism. He is great on put-backs, always crashing the boards when a shot goes up. He has developed his three-point shooting ability in order to be more of a threat from the perimeter. High honors in the classroom. 3.9 gpa


Anas Rezk (2025) 6’6 wing from Egypt - Rezk is a strong wing who can play the small forward and shooting guard positions. He has a more solid build than most at these spots, but he also impresses with his outside shooting ability. He finds sneaky ways to score, staying patient as he looks for lanes to attack.


Clive Thompson (2025) 6’8 wing from Manhattan (currently out with an injury) -Thompson has incredible size for someone who plays the wing position. He can shoot, slash, attack, defend, rebound, handle, you name it. It will all come down to whether or not he is healthy for this season, as he is coming off of an injury that happened right at the end of a long recovery from another injury before it.


James Alnwick (2025) 6’5 wing from Upstate New York - Alnwick is another lengthy wing who also has some height. He has developed his three-point shooting ability in order to be more of a threat from the perimeter, but he is also a confident slasher, potentially catching people off guard with his ability to attack with his dominant left hand.

 

Noah Walker (2026) 6’6 forward from Rhode Island - Per Dylan Thayer of NERR, “Walker is a strong forward who uses his wide shoulder build efficiently to create space and position himself well for inside baskets. His shot fake keeps defenders guessing, and he uses it to attack the rim with confidence. He has developed his outside shooting game as he moves more into the wing position.”
