2023-24 Thurgood Marshall Academy Season Preview

Thurgood Marshall Academy for Learning and Social Change is a public middle and high school in Harlem, serving grades 6 to 12. Their boys varsity basketball team is a perennial championship contender in the PSAL AA, Bronx/Manhattan division. They are coached by the veteran Abdu-Allah Torrence. Below are his key players for the 2023-24 season:

 

Terrell Hood (2024) 6’3 guard - This lefty can use either hand to finish and attack the cup, great mid-range game and continues to get better. Coming off of a very solid junior year.


Ahmad Torrence (2025) 6’5 guard - Torrence is a big threat from behind the three-point line, very proficient passer, High IQ for the game and continues to grow physically and athletically.


Abdou Akim Tahirou (2025) 6’9 forward - Lanky player with big hands, wide wingspan, soft adept touch and high motor. Sky is the limit for this young man.


Zaire Butts (2024) 6’0 guard - D1 level athleticism, with a physique to match, who defends like a pit bull, thrives in transition and has improved his game over the course of the season.


Blake Underwood (2024) 6’3 guard - A shooter and scorer. great touch around the cup.


Justin Prado (2025) 6’1 guard - A bulldog of a defender. Athletic and strong, will attack the basket with ferocity and has and improving jump shot.
 

Ka’sim Noble (2025) 5’10 guard - An up and coming two sport athlete. Feisty defender and tenacious driver to the basket. Better days are ahead of him.


Dyaus Cintron 5’9 guard - Cintron has a good stroke from behind the 3pt line and a strong dynamo of a guard. Will be a spark plug off the bench.

Trenel Martin 6’1 guard - A lanky player that has finishing ability around the basket. Potentially a great defender gets deflections in the passing lane.
