St. Edmund Preparatory High School is a Roman Catholic college preparatory school for young men and women based in Brooklyn.

The SEP Eagles basketball team competes in the Division A of the CHSAA. The Eagles finished last year with a record of 20-5. Nine seniors (and three starters) have graduated, including Player of the Year Brendan Armour (SUNY Oneonta) and All League player Mitchell Wiggan (College of Staten Island). The Eagles return 5 players (and 2 starters) this season. The schedule includes participation in the legendary Msgr. King Tournament. Here are the key players for the 2023-2024 Eagles.

Below are the Eagles key players of note for the 2023-24 season:

Jordan Boreman (2024) 6’2 guard - Boreman has started for the past two seasons. He is a 2-way player and should have a BIG senior season. Boreman is at his best when he is aggressive on both ends. He’s an All-League candidate.

Connor McElhinney (2024) 6’0 guard - McElhinney is a tough kid. He is also a member of the school soccer and volleyball teams. He is one of the better defenders in the league this season and can make shots.

Matt Brock (2025) 6’0 guard - Brock gained valuable experience on the varsity last season. He was an impact player off the bench and looks to take the next step into a prominent role. He is one of the better scorers in the division.

Gavin Paulsen (2024) 6’1 guard - Paulsen is a returning starter and is the heart and soul of the team. He can do a little bit of everything and is the team leader. He is a 2-way player and has improved his game immensely during the off season.

Sam Amari (2025) 6’5 Jr. small forward - Amari is the newcomer that looks most likely to impact the game and break into the starting lineup. He rebounds well and has an inside-out game that is difficult to defend.

Cam Mena (2025) 6’3 guard - Mena was the leading scorer on the JV last season and should be a big contributor on the varsity level this season.

David Rose (2025) 6’2 small forward - An athletic forward that can rebound, score, and run the floor.

Michael Baker (2024) 6’4 small forward - Returning player that should contribute size, rebounding, and perimeter shooting off the bench.

John Notarnicola (2025) 6’1 small forward - A tough, defensive minded player that should see some minutes off the bench.

Joseph Walsh (2025) 5’10 guard - Walsh adds shooting and defense off the bench.

Dom Laiso (2025) 5’9 point guard - Laiso has earned his promotion from the JV team.

Some of the young guys to keep an eye on in the program include:

Dylan Gallagher (2026) 5’10 guard - A shooter that makes clutch shots.

Dylan Tasso (2026) 6’1 wing - Lefthander that scores in a variety of ways.

Tristian Lewis (2027) 5’10 point guard - A floor general with long range and superior court vision.

Kenyatta Wilkinson (2027) 6’4 forward - A long lefty that is a double-double machine.

Makhi Menniefield (2027) 6’2 wing - A long armed wing that can shoot the ball and slash to the rim.
