Community Health Academy of Heights (CHAH Phoenix) is a community school located in Washington Heights, Upper Manhattan. The boys varsity basketball team competes in the newly constituted Division A Manhattan IV conference. In prior years, the team has been a PSAL Class B city title contender for several years and looks to continue the history of success this year. The team is led by long time coach Michael King. This year’s team will be in the midst of a rebuild but still expects to be a very competitive team and compete with the best teams in their area. Below are the team’s key 2023-24 returning players:

Leuri Sosa (2024) 63 shooting guard - Sosa is one of the top shooters in Manhattan and will lead CHAH all year. Sosa scored over 15 ppg last year, hitting 45 3s and improving as the season progressed. He has heard from several D3 colleges. Sosa, who scored over 1100 on his SATs, should be on many schools radars as he continues to develop. 3.8 gpa

Jadin Bernacet (2024) 5’11 guard - A strong defender and defensive rebounder. If he can make open shots he can be a major contributor

Jeremy Hidalgo (2025) 5’10 guard - A surprise contributor as a sophomore; made several big shots throughout year
Good shooter and savvy overall offensive player.

Joseph De La Cruz (2025) 5’11 small forward - De La Cruz is a tough athletic slasher; will be needed to step up outside shooting for team to succeed

The Phoenix has several promising sophomores and freshmen who should will contribute immediately. The team will travel to Albany for a Holiday tournament this December and has scheduled several non-leagues against top competition throughout the City.
