Washington Heights Expeditionary Learning School aka “WHEELS” is a New York City Department of Education public school located in Washington Heights, Manhattan serving grades PreK-12. Their boys varsity basketball team competes in the PSAL Manhattan/Bronx AAAA division. Since entry into the PSAL in 2012, WHEELS has been one of the top programs in the city, consistently setting the pace in Manhattan. Some on-court accomplishments include 2014 City Champion Class A, 2020 Semi-Finalist Class AA, and Manhattan Borough Champions 2014, 2018 and 2020. Numerous WHEELS alumni have gone on to play college basketball, including at the Division 1 level. The team has been coached by Josh Krinsky since 2011. The key players for his current squad are

Sincere Henderson (2025) 5’10 point guard. The strong and explosive Henderson will be making his PSAL debut after transferring from Scanlan. Henderson is a team leader and is a bull getting to the basket. With his strong frame and speed, he lives in the paint. Henderson also sets the tone on the defensive end, and his court vision and pinpoint passing spearheads the WHEELS fast-paced attack. Look for a big year for Henderson as he establishes himself as one of the top guards in the Bronx-Manhattan 4A division.

Camry Perez (2024) 6’1 shooting guard. The rapidly improving Perez is a knock down shooter from deep. He has improved his ball handling, can attack the basket off close outs and can score on the break. A good defensive player, the sweet shooting Perez should have a strong season as a good all around player who does a lot for the Wolves.

Jamel Leak (2025) 5’11 combo guard. Leak is a strong offensive guard who can handle, drive and shoot. The Mount St. Michael transfer should slide well into a starting role for WHEELS, and provide ball handling, attacking the lane, and sweet shooting from mid range and from deep. Leak also is a key piece on the fast break and in the pressure defense that WHEELS likes to play.

Jayson Liz (2024) 6’3 wing. The 3 year starter, Liz is the bridge between eras at WHEELS. A versatile and selfless player, Liz is the leading rebounder and rim protector for the small ball playing WHEELS team. An athletic lefty, he can attack from the wing, run the break, and can knock it down from deep. Liz will be counted on to be a double double machine this season, mixing in jumpers with attacking the rim.
