Susan E. Wagner High is a public school located in Staten Island, NY. It opened in September 1968 and was named in honor of Susan E. Wagner, the late wife of former mayor Robert F. Wagner Jr.  The boys varsity basketball team went 15-1 in the old Staten Island Division A configuration last season. This winter they have been moved into what looks to be a very challenging Brooklyn/Staten Island AAAA II Division. The team is coached by 400 game winner, Joe Coscia.

Below are Coach Coscia’s key trio of players for the 2023-24 season

Mekhi Jackson (2024) 6’4 small forward - A four year varsity player who can play inside or out He is a great rebounder who plays bigger than he is. Just has a will to compete Coach Coscia thinks, Jackson may have the best hands that he ever coached. Jackson has a great motor and has been a big reason for Wagner’s success these last few years.

Devin Louisson (2025) 5’10 guard - Already a three year varsity player as a junior. Louisson is fast and has a with a deadly pull-up jumper. He is is great in the open court and is in the process of extending his range. He is very good on-ball defender. Louisson hates to lose and his competitive spirit rubs off on his teammates.

Devan Matos (2024) 5’7 guard - A small, but quick athlete that has a burst on offense and defense that ignites all. His mid range shooting is excellent. He takes tough shots and makes most of them. He needs to slow down at times and get under control, and also get his teammates the ball in situations where they can excel. No quit in him will play until the buzzer goes off, a joy to coach.
