2023 Real Scout Elite Camp Top Performers

On Saturday afternoon, November 4, we navigated our way through the NYC Marathon crowds and got to Brandeis Educational Campus on the Upper West Side of Manhattan for the Real Scout Basketball Elite Camp. Real Scout Basketball is a major force in finding and exposing college prospect talent in the Greater NYC region. This camp is an outlet for many of the Tri-state area’s finest players to participate in prior to the upcoming high school season. Here are the standouts from the event:

 

Caleb Oriogou 6-10, Forward, Lawrence Woodmere Academy, Class of 2026 - A forward that is able to hold his own on both ends of the floor, as he is agile and very strong. Has a great presence on the interior and is able to use his length to alter or block shots and obtain rebounds. Has the ability to put the ball on the floor and can make a hook shot from outside the paint and is a good finisher in the post.

 

Darnell Childs 5-11, Point Guard, High School for Construction, Class of 2024 - A guard that is very quick and deceptive on the floor and is able to make great plays on the court at all times. Is a fearless guard that is willing to drive to the basket and is a strong finisher. Is able to set up his teammates for passes and is a solid defender that is able to make the opposition uncomfortable enough to force a turnover.

 

Ahmyir Penn 6-11, Forward, Brandeis Educational Campus, Class of 2024 - A forward that is able to establish his presence on the floor and has great hands and lateral movement. Knows how to time the opponent’s shot, so that he is able to block it and is also a great rebounder. Has plenty of athleticism and is a good finisher at the rim. Has a nice shooting touch, as he is able to shoot from long range.

 

Kendrick Hunter, 6-5, Shooting Guard, Cliffside Park High School (NJ), Class of 2024 - A guard that is able to showcase his toughness at all times on the court, as he is able to battle it out on the boards for rebounds. Is able to bring up the ball and is able to attack in transition. Is fearless when going to the basket and is able to take contact and draw fouls with ease.

 

William Robinson 5-10, Point Guard, Mount Vernon High School, Class of 2025 - A guard that is quick and is a great playmaker on the floor. Is able to find his teammates, as they are streaking towards the basket and has a great eye on the defensive end. Has the ability to drive to the basket and is a good finisher.

 

Dakari Brown, 6-1, Shooting Guard, St. Joseph Regional High School (NJ), 2026 - A guard with a great physical build that can take contact as he drives to the basket. Showcases plenty of toughness on the court, which is also indicated when he goes up for rebounds. Is also able to see the floor well, as he is able to dish the ball to teammates and also knows when to go for a pull-up jumper.

 

Timothy Mingo 6-1, Shooting Guard, Lynbrook High School, Class of 2024 - A guard that has the ability to do many things on the court, as he uses his speed and his great ballhandling skills to get past his defender. Is able to use his floater efficiently when on the offensive end and has a penchant from shooting from the top of the key. Is known for acrobatic finishes in the lane, as he is able to succeed in finishing when going up for two.

 

Kobe Closeil, 6-1, Gill St. Bernard School (NJ), Class of 2025 - A guard that has the ability to use his speed at all times on the floor, as he will go for loose balls and turn that into a possession that could lead to a basket at the other end. Is able to find his teammates when they are open and has great court awareness when on the offensive end. On defense, he is able to move well and force turnovers and obtain steals.

 

Jadyn Lopez 6-5, Small Forward, Brandeis Educational Campus, Class of 2024 - A forward with great length that can see the floor well. Is able to put the ball on the floor and is able to make good decisions on the offensive end. Is able to get his shot off efficiently and chooses when to drive into the lane, where he is fearless of any contact.

 

Jaiden Sanabria 5-9, Queens Metropolitan High School, Class of 2024 - A guard that possessed plenty of quickness and awareness on the floor. Knows when to distribute to his teammates and can set them up for possessions that could lead to baskets. Is able to find multiple ways to score on the break, as he can hit a jumper or can drive to the basket with ease.

 

Messiah Kennedy 6-1, Point Guard, John Bowne High School, Class of 2026 - A guard that has the abilty to hold his own on the court and has uses his shiftiness as an asset. Has the ability to attack when on the offensive end and can distribute the ball to his teammates on the break. Has a great jumper, which he uses to his advantage and can also take it to the basket.

 

Charles Steele 5-9, Point Guard, Petrides School, Class of 2024 - A guard that is able to make great decisions by getting his teammates involved and dishing the ball to them at the right moments. Has a penchant for coming off of screens and then driving to the basket or kicking it out. When he does go up to score, he is fearless and is able to finish efficiently.
