2023 NYC Prospects The Sunday Service Top Performers

On Sunday, RecruitTheBronx.com paid a visit to Xaverian High School in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn for the annual Sunday Service event, put together by NYC Prospects. In this event, we caught three games in which some of the city’s finest came out to showcase their talents with their squads. The final three games of the event went down to the wire and the event was a great start to the 2023-24 season. Here are the standouts from the event:


Braylin Sanjurjo 5-11, Point Guard, Eagle Academy I, Class of 2024 - A guard that is always ready to lead his team on the court and has plenty of awareness when running the team. Is able to drive to the basket and is always fearless when it comes to absorbing contact. Aside from driving to the basket, he is always ready and able to distribute the ball to his teammates and make sure that they get opportunities to score.


D’Andre Gibbs 6-2, Shooting Guard, Eagle Academy I, Class of 2024 - A guard that is definitely ball-dominant and will look to take over a game when the opportunity presents itself. Likes to drive to the basket and will attack in transition, as far as finishing with precision. Is also a player that can hit a pull-up jumper as well.


Maliq Miller 6-7, Forward, Eagle Academy I, Class of 2026 - A forward that has the ability to have a dominant presence in the low post. Has plenty of strength and is able to make his presence felt with his physical style of play, when it comes to rebounding. Is able to muscle his way to the basket and can easily draw fouls.


Jadyn Lopez 6-6, Forward, Louis D. Brandeis Educational Campus, Class of 2024 - A forward that has the ability to be versatile on the perimeter. Has a penchant for putting the ball on the floor and can make moves when on the perimeter. Has the ability to drive to the basket and finish strong when going up for two.


Alexis Ramirez 5-8, Point Guard, Louis D. Brandeis Educational Campus, Class of 2024 - A guard that has plenty of quickness on the floor and is a huge asset to his team as a floor general. Has the ability to make his presence felt and can attack in transition when driving through the lane. Is also a player that can set up his teammates for passes at all times, especially when they’re on a fast break.


Damon Higginson 6-3, Shooting Guard, Murry Bergtraum High School, Class of 2025 - A guard that is very active on the offensive end. Is able to fight through screens and is able to get open when on the offensive end. Likes to shoot from long range and is also a player that can drive to the basket & finish strong.


Andrew Parrish 5-10, Point Guard, Murry Bergtraum High School, Class of 2024 - A guard that is always in control of his team at all times. Has excellent vision on the court and uses his quickness to his advantage, especially on the defensive end of the court, where he is able obtain steals & then turn it into offensive opportunities. Has a penchant for speeding to the basket and can finish with strength.


Demarjay Smith 5-10, Shooting Guard, Murry Bergtraum High School, Class of 2026 - A guard that has plenty of poise and has plenty of quickness in his game. Is able to spot up and shoot from the perimeter or from three-point range. Has the ability to drive to the basket and is able to finish in the lane.


Devan Matos 5-7, Point Guard, Susan E. Wagner High School, Class of 2024 - A guard that is a force in the backcourt and has a great sense of awareness when running a team. Uses his speed on a fast break & will drive to the basket and score. Has the ability to set up teammates for baskets in a timely fashion, as he will dish it to them if they’re streaking towards the basket. Has a nice jumper, which he will use ti his advantage of & when the opportunity arises.


Mekhi Jackson 6-4, Forward, Susan E. Wagner High School, Class of 2024 - A forward that is very strong and is a huge inside presence for his squad. Is very mobile and will use his physicality to obtain rebounds and draw fouls when on the offensive end. Is a strong finisher when going up for two.


Karim Camara 6-0, Point Guard, Poly Prep Country Day School, Class of 2025 - A guard that has plenty of poise and has the ability to create for himself and also lead his team in the process. Knows when to take shots and also distribute to his teammates. Is able to knock down jumpers from 15 feet or from three-point range & finds ways to stay open.


Eli Floyd 6-5, Forward, Poly Prep Country Day School, Class of 2024 - A forward that has plenty of strength and is very mobile on the court. Is able to put the ball on the floor and move efficiently when in the post area. Has a penchant for scoring in bunches and also obtaining rebounds when on both ends of the court.


Patrick Evans 6-1, Point Guard, Xaverian High School, Class of 2024 - A guard that is very shifty and has great court vision. Has the ability to get past his defender with his ability to make smooth moves off the dribble. Has the ability to make tough shots, including floaters and is able to finish strong at the basket. Is also a good passer, as he is able to see where his teammates are moving on the offensive end.


Brendan Margolin 6-4, Forward, Xaverian High School, Class of 2025 - A forward that is undersized, but plays bigger than his stature. Has great hands and is able to utilize his skills in different ways on the floor. Is able to back down and outwork his opponents in the low post and can finish at the basket efficiently. Will step out to three-point range, where he has a nice jumper.
