2024 Slam Dunk New York x Crusader Classic Standout

On January 6, we got up to the Westchester County Center in White Plains for the Slam Dunk New York x Crusader Classic. The event featured many of the premier players in the Westchester County area. In the event, we got to check out the action in the final two games of the event between Scarsdale and White Plains, and the main event between Archbishop Stepinac and Iona Prep, the annual rivalry game for Westchester County. When all was said and done, both of the local teams, White Plains and Stepinac defended their home turf in their home city and would emerge victorious. Here are the standouts from both games.


Logan McCormick 6-6, Shooting Guard, White Plains High School, Class of 2024 - A guard that has the ability to make great plays on the court. Has plenty of quickness and likes to run in transition when it comes to going to the basket and is a solid finisher. Is able to shoot efficiently and is able to shoot from the perimeter and from three-point range.


Nick Triolo 5-11, Point Guard, White Plains High School, Class of 2026 - A guard that has plenty of heart and toughness when on the court. Despite his frame, he has the ability to obtain rebounds and then sprint down the floor for an offensive possession. Has a penchant for dishing it out to his teammates and can also drive to the basket, where he is able to finish with strength.


Carlos Rodriguez 6-3, Shooting Guard, Scarsdale High School, Class of 2024 https://www.recruitthebronx.com/index.php/home/Contact A guard that is a true playmaker and is very efficient when he has the ball in his hands. Is able to create for himself off the dribble and can attack in transition. Is able to shoot from long range and is able to drive to the basket efficiently.

 

Jake Sussberg 6-4, Shooting Guard, Scarsdale High School, Class of 2025 https://www.recruitthebronx.com/index.php/home/Contact A guard that is known for his ability to score in bunches. Is able to create for himself off the dribble and always finds ways to get open on the perimeter. Is fearless when it comes to driving to the basket, as he is able to finish at the basket and doesn’t mind contact. Has a nice shooting touch, and isn’t afraid to take the open shot and also takes shots when he has the opportunity.

 

Brandon Gibbons 6-1, Point Guard, Scarsdale High School, Class of 2025 - A guard that likes to set up his teammates for baskets as the primary ballhandler of the team. Has a great sense of awareness of what’s going on when the ball is in play on the offensive end. If he is being guarded heavily, he will kick it out to the open man, otherwise, he will drive to the basket when the opportunity presents itself.

 

Johnny Keenan 6-0, Point Guard, Iona Preparatory School, Class of 2025 - A guard that has a penchant for using his quickness to his advantage. When the fast break is in motion, he will drive to the basket and will finish strength and is fearless when it comes to going into the lane. Has great court vision and finds ways to distribute the ball to his teammates.

 

Alex Bryant 6-8, Forward, Iona Preparatory School, Class of 2024 - A forward that has great size and is skilled for his position. Uses his length to his advantage, as he knows when to block shots and how to box out on the boards. On the offensive end, he is a high leaper and is a good finisher at the rim.

 

Lucas Morillo 6-6, Shooting Guard, Iona Preparatory School, Class of 2024 - A guard with plenty of length, who uses his size to his ability when playing against smaller players to his advantage. Has a nice shooting stroke, whether it is from 15 feet or from three-point range, as he is a spot-up shooter. Is also a good rebounder, as he is aware of the ball whenever it goes up and is active when it comes to trying to snare the ball.

 

Johnuel Fland 6-3, Point Guard, Archbishop Stepinac High School, Class of 2024 - A guard that has a penchant for taking the big shots, but can also get his teammates involved on the floor. Has a penchant for shooting at a high volume from long range and is a very consistent shooter. Also is a good driver to the basket, where he finishes efficiently.

 

Danny Carbuccia 6-1, Point Guard, Archbishop Stepinac High School, Class of 2025 - A guard that is a great distributor and has a good sense of awareness every time he is on the floor. Has a penchant for finding his teammates on the break and gives them the opportunity to score when the opportunity presents itself. Knows when it is the right time to take shots, as he also likes to drive to the basket and can also shoot from the perimeter.
