2024 CT Takeover 17u Player Profiles

CT TakeOver is grass roots program for ages 7-17 years old. Since being Established in 2019, Takeover has provided year round training and high level competitive basketball. The program’s mindset is to help as many student athletes get to the next level as possible. It’s working, They already now have multiple alums playing in college. The Program Director is Darren Gilbert.


Their 2024 17u player profiles are as below.


Aston Whittingham (2025) 5’10 point guard, Sport and Medical Sciences Academy High (CT) - Whittingham is one the top guards in the area, earning himself All CIAC honors. His ability to defend on ball separates himself from the rest. Crafty and strong when attacking the rim. Very comfortable to rise up and hit mid range jumpers. Once he becomes a more consistent shooter from deep, he will have the full arsenal in his game. 3.3 gpa


Jakeel Martin (2025) 5’11 point guard, Windsor High (CT) - Martin ia CCC All Conference player and a CIAC Division 2 state champion. He gets it done on both ends of the of floor. He has the ability to get home from deep and uses his athleticism to finish around the basket. Is already receiving D3 recruitment.


Derrick Sheets (2025) 6’0 guard, Manchester High (CT) - Sheets is also a CIAC D@ All Stater this year. One of the most deadliest shooter from beyond the arc in the state. His ability to get to the basket and create makes him a true 3 level scorer.


Kaiden James (2024/55) 6’1 guard, Windsor High (CT) - James another All Conference and CIAC D2 state champion from the Windsor High basketball talent factory. He knows how to put the ball in the basket. His IQ creates opportunities for himself and teammates to succeed. It’s hard to keep him off the court. Is already receiving D3 recruitment.


Alec Rodrigue (2025) 6’2 guard, Coginchaug High (CT) - Rodrigue is a
earned All Conference honors as both a sophomore and a junior. Does everything you need as a player. Creates plays and is a blue collar competitor. He can get to the basket along with being consistent from deep. Prep schools are already showing interest in him. He will make any college or prep coach happy. 4.2 gpa


Tyler Manguel (2025) 6’3 guard, St Bernard’s High (CT) - Mangual is fresh off of a All Conference junior season. He is a lengthy wing that gets after it especially on the defensive end. He is now earning how to play through contact at this level. His high IQ on both ends of the floor will help tremendously going into the Live Periods.

 

Jayveon Robinson (2025) 6’4 small forward, Manchester High (CT) -
One of the highest ceilings players in the state of Connecticut. He is a lengthy and athletic wing that can do it all. One of the most unselfish kids CTO has had
in their program. He fills the stat sheet. He defends from the interior at a high rate due to his tremendous athletic ability.  Is already receiving D3 recruitment.


Mitchell Carey (2026) 6’4 small forward, Amherst High (MA)


Michael Coggins (2024) 6’5 small forward, Suffield High (CT)—Coggins is a 3x CIAC All State and 4x All Conference honoree. One of the best players in the state of Connecticut. Does everything great. Holds  25 plus offers, verbally committed to Keene State but has since decided to look for higher offers this spring/summer.



London King (24’/25) 5’11 guard, South Windsor High, (CT) - Another All Conference players for CTO. This southpaw is a shot maker. He spreads the floor which helps create for him and others.
