2024 Manhattan Sports Summer League Standouts

Since 2011, One of Greater NYCs hardest working event operators, Lucky Brannon of Manhattan Sports has brought in a terrific variety of teams to play in his summer league at the House of Sports in Ardsley, NY. In addition, to running the games, Brannon brings terrific effort in getting the student athletes exposure in the form of a big social media presence, including video and game stats. On Monday, July 1, we made it to the House of Sports to catch some of the league’s playoff games. Here are the standouts from those games:


Malik Gasper 6-8, Forward, New Rochelle High School, Class of 2025 - A forward that has a long wingspan, but is very versatile on the floor. Is able to put the ball on the floor and is able to drive past the opposition to get to the basket. Is a great finisher at the basket & is able to obtain rebounds when going up to the hole.

 

Sean Thomas 6-4, Shooting Guard, New Rochelle High School, Class of 2025 - A guard that has the ability to hold his own on the court, as he is able to use his strength to muscle his way to the basket. Is able to finish when in transition and is able to come off of screens when in a pick & roll situation. Is a great defensive player and is able to anticipate where the opposition will be so that he can get the steal.


Nevion Legree 6-4, Shooting Guard, Monsignor Scanlan High School, Class of 2025 - A guard that has plenty of length and has finesse when on the court. Is a player that is known for getting past the opposing defender with a quick first step and is able to score easily. With his aggressiveness at getting to the basket, he is able to absorb contact and is able to get to the free throw line. Is a player that likes to run on the fast break.


Johansel Cruz 5-9, Point Guard, Monsignor Scanlan High School, Class of 2026 - A guard that has plenty of quickness and is able to see where his teammates are going at all times in order to set them up with passes that can lead to scoring opportunities. Has a penchant for driving to the basket and finishing efficiently. Is a solid defender, as he is able to pounce on the opposition and obtain steals when the opportunity presents itself.


Gilbert Baez-Rodriguez 6-5, Shooting Guard, Monsignor Scanlan High School, Class of 2027 - A guard that has the ability to make plays on the floor and is able to use his size and length to his advantage. Finds ways to showcase his athleticism when going towards the basket, as he is known for throwing down dunks. Is able to obtain rebounds and then run on the fast break or can dish it out to his teammates.


Riley Bautista 5-8, Point Guard, Paramus Catholic High School, Class of 2025 - A guard that has plenty of quickness in his game and is able to speed up or slow down the tempo for his team. Knows when to distribute the ball to his teammates as he is able to find them at the right moments on the offensive end. Is able to shoot pull-up jumpers from midrange.


Yves Harris 6-6, Forward, Paramus Catholic High School, Class of 2025 - A forward that has a penchant for establishing his presence in the low post area and is able to use his physicality on both ends of the court. Is a strong rebounder and can also alter or block the shots of the opposition. Is able to finish at the rim.


Josh Charlot 5-11, Point Guard, Notre Dame Fairfield High School, Class of 2027 - A guard that has plenty of quickness and flash whenever he hits the floor. Is able to find gus teammates whenever they’re streaking towards the basket or are open. Has the ability to obtain steals and can get down court quick and can get to the basket or pull up for a jumper.


Nasir Dunlap 6-3, Shooting Guard, Notre Dame Fairfield High School, Class of 2026 - A guard that had a penchant for finding eye to get to the basket and is able to absorb contact when going to the basket. Is very active when it comes to getting rebounds and loose balls on the court. Has a penchant for finishing at the basket and can get to the free-throw line with ease.


Anthony Williams 6-5, Forward, Notre Dame Fairfield High School, Class of 2025 - A forward that is very active on both ends of the floor and is able to find ways to get to the ball. Knows when to attack the glass when it comes to rebounds and get to loose balls with precision. I’d able to anticipate passes when streaking towards the basket and is able to score once he gets the ball.


Kaden Gonzalez 6-1, Shooting Guard, Yorktown High School, Class of 2025 - A guard that is shifty and is able to make his presence felt in both areas on the court. Has the ability to create for himself off the dribble and is able to drive to the basket and finish efficiently. Is able to obtain rebounds and then get on the fast break. Has a penchant for shooting from long range,
