2024 In The Water 845 Showcase Standouts

On Friday night, August 9, RecruitTheBronx.com got to Beacon High School in Beacon, New York for the second annual In The Water 845 Showcase, put together by the Elijah Hughes Foundation, a non-profit organization started by former NBA player Elijah Hughes, a native of Beacon. In this game, players from all over Duchess County came out to participate for a great cause, as well as compete and represent their respective hometown. Here are the standouts from the game:
Victor Nelson III 5-7, Point Guard, Poughkeepsie High School, Class of 2026 - A guard that is a great decision maker and is able to find his teammates wherever they’re at on the court. Is able to drive to get to the basket and score with ease. Is able to move around off the ball and looks to receiver passes.
Tyrone Dubose, 5-9, Shooting Guard, Poughkeepsie High School, Class of 2026 - A guard with jet-like quickness that is able to finish in transition. Has the ability to obtain steals on the defensive end and fly downcourt to the opposite end. Has the ability to shoot pull-up jumpers when the opportunity presents itself.
Jensy Adames 5-10, Point Guard, Arlington High School, Class of 2025 - A guard that has the ability to be a great facilitator to his teammates. Is able to shoot from long range and is able to create for himself on the offensive end. Is able to drive to the basket and finish efficiently.
Jazziah Whitted, 5-9, Point Guard, Beacon High School, Class of 2025 - A guard that has the ability to see the floor and is a shifty player that can beat his man off the dribble. Is able to drive to the basket and finish efficiently. Is able to find his teammates & give them the opportunity to score.
Jacob Jerome 6-1, Shooting Guard, Arlington High School, Class of 2025 - A guard that has the ability to score in bunches and is able to attack in transition. Has a nice shooting touch from three-point range and also from midrange. Is able to drive ton the basket and finish strongly and is able to absorb contact.
Michai Thompson, 5-8, Point Guard, Beacon High School, Class of 2026 - A guard that has the ability to be quick and creative when he’s on the floor. Is able to make his presence felt when getting in the lane and getting past multiple defenders in order to get to the basket. Has a penchant for absorbing contact and getting to the free throw line easily after drawing a foul.
Jahcier Ballard 6-2, Shooting Guard, Beacon High School, Class of 2026 - A guard that is very quick and is always looking to score in various ways. Is able to bring up the ball and is always able to drive past the defense in order to get to the basket. Has a penchant for shooting from either midrange or from three.
Jason Kinscy, 6-1, Shooting Guard, Ellenville High School, Class of 2024 - A guard that has the ability to use his speed to his advantage. Is able to absorb physical contact and always looks to draw fouls to get to the free throw line. Is able to dish out the ball to his teammates when they are open and looking to score.
Matthew Machamkin, 6-7, Forward, Haldane School, Class of 2024 - A forward that has a very skilled and versatile game. Is able to showcase his athleticism by throwing down powerful dunks or by crashing the boards. Is able to step out onto three-point range or from 15 feet outside of the basket.
Jai Elting, 6-5, Forward, Poughkeepsie High School, Class of 2024 - A forward that is strong and a great physical presence in the low post. Has the ability to showcase his athleticism by finishing at the rim. Is a player that can put the ball on the floor and blow past his defender to get to the basket.
