Suffield Academy 2024-25 Season Preview
Suffield Academy is a private preparatory school located in Suffield, CT. It was founded in 1833. They have more than 140 adults there to help prepare their 410 students for college.
Their varsity basketball team is head coached by Drew Gamere and assistant coached by Sean Atkins. They compete in the NEPSAC Class A (large schools) conference.
Below are the Suffield Academy players will be running in this fall’s Open Gyms:
Joathan Niv (2025) 6’4 wing - Excellent shooter with range. Always in control and knows how to use screens effectively to creat space for his shots. Crafty scorer that uses his length to score effectively from the midrange and in the paint. Battles hard for rebounds on both ends of the court. Plays hard defensively and was one of the teams best shot blockers last season. 3.8 gpa
Avery Mickens (2025) 6’3 combo guard - Excellent shooter with quick release. Can put the ball on the floor and beat opposition off the dribble. Explosive when attacking the rim and getting lift on his jump shot. Intelligent player that moves well without the ball and is also a good passer. Good length and athleticism allow him to guard multiple positions. 3.8 gpa
Brandon Burke (2025) 6’6 forward - Explosive athlete with length that makes an impact on both ends of the court. Attacks the rim and finishes with power. Can shoot from midrange and beyond the arc. He is effective in transition and has good ball skills for his size. Good rebounder and dynamic shot blocker. Improving rapidly - huge upside. 3.5 gpa
Nick Lemmond (2025) 6’4 wing - Conference MVP at Marblehead High (MA) last year - Dynamic scorer with range. Plays in control and is a good ballhandler. Gets to his spots with ease and high release allows him to make contested baskets. Intelligent player that consistently makes the correct reads. Good defender that can guard multiple positions. 3.4 gpa
Jakub Lomicka (2025) 6’10 forward - Originally from the Czech Republic, was at Bergen Catholic, NJ last year. Long and extremely skilled. Creates match up issues with ability to penetrate and shoot with range. Excellent ballhandler with terrific vision. Can defend multiple positions and has good instincts to block shots off the ball. Excellent talent with great potential. 3.6 gpa
Markus Maxwell-Grimes (2026) 6’2 combo guard - A rising prospect that gets downhill with ease and consistently finishes at the rim. A good ball handler with excellent shooting range. Plays hard - led the team in offensive rebounds from the guard position last year. Length, instincts, and athleticism make him a strong defender. A threat to steal when playing on the ball or off. Rapidly improving and big potential. 3.1 gpa
Seamus Cleary (2026) 6’4 combo guard - Good ball handler that finishes well going to the basket. Can shoot the 3 and hit from midrange. Finishes well with both hands when attacking the basket. High motor - never stops running on both ends. Strong defender that can guard multiple positions. 3.5 gpa
Noah Morrin (2026) 6’2 combo guard - Rapidly improving player that competes in all areas. Good scorer that can shoot at all levels and take it to the basket. Excellent on ball defender that always plays hard. Good instincts and strength make him a good rebounder on both ends. 3.7 gpa
Will Kotchen (2026) 5’11 guard - Excellent shooter with range. Moves well without the ball to create space for his shot. Handles the ball well and always plays in control. Intelligent player that is a good passer and makes the correct read. 3.3 gpa
Alijah Johnson (2027) - 5’11 combo guard - Emerging young player. Received significant minutes as a freshman and looks poised to do more. Excellent shooter with unlimited range. Plays in control and is a good ballhandler. Has a quick release that allows him to score consistently over bigger defenders. Strong defensive instincts lead to multiple steals. 3.3 gpa
Nikolas Koudsi (2027) 6’1 combo guard - Athletic guard that can score off the dribble and from the perimeter. Attacks the basket and has excellent touch scoring over bigger defenders. Good shooter with range. Strong ballhandler that plays in control. Strength and athleticism allow him to guard multiple positions. 3.5 gpa
