2024 Our Saviour Lutheran Open Gym Top Performers

Our Saviour Lutheran High School is a private, co-educational school located in Morris Park, Bronx.  Its high school was established in 1955.  In basketball, under coach Peter Wehye, they have created a tremendous college prep program.  They run multiple teamsthat are loaded with college prospects. Wehye head coaches the top team, that competes in the Overtime Elite League with other nationally renown programs. He sets the values and culture for all five teams. The OSL Post Grad team is coached by Ray Warren and it competes in the AAA Division of the Power 5 conference.  The OSL Regional team is coached by up and coming coach Trevor Reed. His team will again be competing in the AA Division of the Power 5 conference, a New England Prep school league.


As pictured above, the program is holding a schedule of Open Gym runs this fall for college scouts to attend.


On Tuesday, September 10, RecruitTheBronx.com paid made it to the Morris Park section of The Bronx to catch some of that Open Gym action. Participating in the open gym were players playing for all three teams. Below are the standouts:


Jermel Thomas 6-2, Point Guard, Class of 2026 - A guard that is a deceptive ball handler that Is known for making great plays when on the court. Is able to find his teammates when they’re open or streaking to the baskets. Is able to use his quickness to his advantage when on the court.


Kaelen Destin 6-1, Point Guard, Class of 2025 - A guard that has the ability to be a competitor every time he steps on the court. Is able to get past the opposition with a quick first step and is able to make his presence felt with his scoring on the offensive end. Has a penchant for playing tough defense on the opposition and is bound to obtain steals on the floor & get down court with ease.


Yandel German 5-10, Point Guard, Class of 2027 - A guard that brings plenty of energy to the team and is able to bring instant offense to his team. Is able to play tough defense and get steals so that he can get to the basket. Has the ability to shoot from three-point range.


Ayomi Odetoyinbo 6-9, Forward, Class of 2025 - A forward that has plenty of length and size and is a force on both ends of the court. Has the ability to throw down powerful dunks and can finish efficiently when in the post area. Has the ability to block shots and obtain rebounds when in the paint area.


Mabil Mawut 6-11, Forward, Class of 2025 - A forward that has the ability to be a force in the post area. Has the ability to use his length and size to establish his presence in the low post. Has the ability to finish efficiently at the rim and can also be a shot-blocker.


Jordan Skyers 6-2, Shooting Guard, Class of 2026 - A guard that has the ability to be a force in the backcourt, due to his scoring ability. Is able to get his shot off efficiently from three-point range. Is a very explosive player that can attack in transition and finish at the rim.


Logan Alexander 6-9, Forward, Class of 2025 - A forward that has the ability to make his presence felt on both ends of the court. Is able to use his length to block shots and also is able to obtain rebounds. Has the ability to make finish efficiently around the rim and can throw down powerful dunks.


Kevin Wheatley, Jr. 6-5, Shooting Guard, Class of 2028 - A guard that has plenty of range in his shot, especially when shooting from mid-range or from three-point range. Has the ability to showcase his athleticism when in the open lane when in the offensive end. Has the ability to dish out passes to teammates when they’re open.


Abdel Karim 6-5, Forward, Class of 2025 - A guard that has plenty of quickness on the floor and has plenty of finesse in his game. Has the ability to shoot from three-point range and is always open own the wing and can anticipate the pass. Has the ability to use his explosiveness when going to the rim.


Al-Hassan Jallow 6-8, Forward, Class of 2025 - A forward that is able to showcase plenty of versatility when on the court. Has the ability to get his shot off efficiently when on the three-point range. Has the ability to drive to the basket and finish efficiently.


Naszaire Simmons 6-4, Shooting Guard, Class of 2025 - A guard that has the ability to make his presence felt with his scoring. Is a player that can get to the basket and finish efficiently. Has the ability to shoot from long range. Has the ability to plays strong pressure defense and is able to stick with his man to force turnovers.
