2024-25 South Kent School Player Profiles

South Kent School is an all male boarding school, founded in 1924 and located in Litchfield County, CT. Over the years, It’s basketball program has been uber-prolific in producing high level college prospects. This past September, their head coach Raphael Chillious was hired back into the NBA. Accordingly, then Associate Head Coach, Craig Carter stepped in to take over.
Once again, the program will field two college prospect laden teams. The Prep team is coached by Carter and competes in the high powered New England Basketball League and is a perennial contender for a seed in the NEPSAC Class AAA post season championship tournament, and often also the Prep National Championship Tournament. Below, we profile the players on both teams.
Prep Team
Tim Walker (2025) 6’3 guard – Slasher/downhill driver, Walker has a college-ready body that he knows how to use. He guards multiple positions, and rebounds well. He shoots out to 22ft, can play 1-3. Has the ability to run a team or play off the ball, moves very good without the ball with a high basketball IQ.
Diallo Long (2025) 6’4 wing - Long is a straight-line driver, and he has a great mid-range pullup game. He has developed into a very consistent 3pt shooter at South Kent. He is a very aggressive defender, being able to guard multiple positions. He is a big rebounder, and he moves well without the ball. Plays AAU with We R1.
Shawn Spencer (2025) 6’0 point guard - Spencer has the ability to play both on and off the ball. One of his top traits is his athleticism, from being able to throw it down to his speed with the basketball. He is difficult to contain in transition and is very unselfish. He is a knock-down shooter when his feet are set. VERY GOOD defender on the ball and off the ball. 3.3 gpa
Nate Brazil (2025) 5’11 point guard - Brazil can create for himself and others. He has amazing pace with the ball with a secure handle. He can find teammates with ease passing with either left or right hands. Also has a knack to score the basketball and can shoot out to 25ft. Underrated finisher at his size and has sneaky athleticism. Really good on the ball defender.
Jaryn Aguiar (2025) 6’2 point guard - In addition to being a floor general, Aguiar has the ability to play off the ball. A 3rd year South Kent vet that has improved every single year since attending the school. He’s very long and uses that length on the defensive end and is very disruptive on & off the ball. He has very good range on his 3 point shot. Also, he has good touch around the rim with his floater.
Tres Luzey (2025) 6’2 guard - Luzey is very active on the defensive end. Picks up 94 feet and is strong. He does a great job moving without the basketball, and he is also very athletic, having the speed to easily get downhill. Luzey is also a really good 3 point shooter when feet are set. He can guard multiple positions and rebounds very well for his size. He has a 3.7 gpa
Jonas de Krassel (2025) 6’4 wing - de Krassel’s greatest strength is that he’s a knock down 3 point shooter with NBA range. He has sneaky athleticism (very strong and quick), he knows how to use his body on drives to the rim. De Krassel moves well without the ball, is a great off the ball defender and can rebound well for his position. He has a 3.5 gpa
Rashawn Tibby (2025) 6’9 forward - Tibby is a long forward that has put on some size since last year. He can handle and create his shot in the mid-range. Tibby also is a very high IQ player that moves and cuts well off the ball. He has become a knock down 3 point shooter, one of the best on the team. He has the ability to guard 1 - 5 as well, due to his length and athleticism.
Badara Diakite (2025) 6’10 forward - (University of Iowa commit) Diakite has improved his ability to shoot off the dribble and handle the ball, which has helped him become a better scorer. He has developed an automatic mid-range shot and a 3 point shot that extends to NBA range. Diakite also has the ability to guard 1- 5 with length and athleticism. He will also be very active on the rebounds this season.
Dapo Kruyswijk (2025) 6’9 forward - If there is anyone to compare Kruyswijk’s game to, it would be a Jokic style of play. He has a great feel for the game, from setting great screens to being able to find his teammates out of the post or in handoff situations. He has a very solid touch in the paint, finishing with either his left or right well. Very good 3 point shooter.
Alexander Bryant (2025) 6’8 forward - Ultra springy, long forward that can finish above the rim. He has a knack for offensive rebounding and has ability guard 1-5. Bryant challenges every shot that comes his way, especially when in the paint. His jump shot is something he has worked on, and that scouts haven’t seen from him in previous years.
Kaizen Settles (2025) 6’7 forward - Settles is gritty, tough and resilient. He is a lockdown defender and an extremely strong rebounder. He is willing to give up his body for the team. Moves very well without the ball, and he has an automatic mid-range shot with the ability to make some fade aways from the post position. He also has knock down 3s capabilities when his feet are set!
Adam Chiacchia (2025) 6’8 forward - Chiacchia is one of the most improved players that has been in the South Kent program in recent years. He is a very high IQ basketball player that has put on some size. Getting stronger has helped him drive to the rim and finish through contact at a very efficient rate. Chiacchia also has great footwork around the paint. He is a very good 3 point shooter when his feet are set. Also with his added strength and natural tenacity, he’s become a very good rebounder.
Christopher Birden Jr. (2025) 6’10 forward - Birden has ELITE athleticism which shows up when guarding, rebounding and in transition. He does a great job of contesting shots as well, meeting rebounds at their peak point in the air and knows how to outrun his defender. He has a great feel off ball, knows when to cut. Birden finishes above the rim on most finishes. Excellent 3 point shooter!
Developmental Team
Liam Mali (2025) 6’0 guard - He’s very athletic, a quick first step and strong build. Because of those traits, he is a great on ball defender. Does an exceptional job of setting his team’s offense and leader on a team. Has great form and scores extremely well in the mid range and 3. 3.3 gpa
Bryce Bennett (2026) 6’4 wing - He’s extremely strong and physical for his position which allows him to guard a wide variety of positions. He is very unselfish and looks to always set up his teammates. A good shooter when feet are set.
Isaiah Young (2025) 5’11 guard - Young is athletic and quick, really good on ball defender. He uses his speed to get to the rim. He also hits open jumpers when feet are set.
Nehemiah Young (2026) 6’3 guard - Another athletic guard, he has the ability to finish above the rim. Young has a strong frame so he can finish through contact as well. He rebounds extremely well for a guard. Has a great jumper and the ability to score on all 3 levels!
Lucas Land (2025) 6’0 guard - A crafty, lanky guard that has a knack to be able to get into the paint and finish. Land can shoot it extremely well and is starting to learn how to use his length to be a pest on defense. He will see a lot of time at point this year as well.
Nate Horovitz (2025) 5’11 guard - Horovitz is a lefty with a pure shot. You leave him open and it’s probably going in 9 out of 10 times. He is very crafty with the ball as well and has an eye for finding teammates. He is a very high IQ player and moves very well without the ball.
Johny Mathiang (2025) 7’2 center - Mathiang is a long athlete that uses his physical abilities to effect shots, sprint the floor and rebound as the center. He already has great range 18 ft and in and showing signs of a simple back-to-basket post game. His extraordinary height helps give him the ability to find teammates as well.
Maddox Hughey (2025) 6’7 forward - A strong forward who sets the best screens. He works extremely hard in the paint and does a great job rebounding. Hughey has a solid hook shot with either hand and great shot when his feet are set, from the mid range or three. Plays AAU with City Rocks Albany. 3.7 gpa
Vuyo Musa (2026) 6’4 wing - Musa is a big physical wing. He communicates well and understands his positioning on defense. He is developing on the offensive end, rapidly improving his ball handling, shooting and finishing. By the end of the season, the SKS coaching staff believes that he will be a completely different player, due to his rapid improvement pace.
Neil Pasrija (2026) 6’2 guard. Pasrija is lanky, long and has solid athleticism. Pasrija has a very effective game. Uses minimal dribbles to get where he needs to get to whether in an offensive set, to the rim or set up teammates. He is also a really good shooter from 3. 3.8 gpa
Abdulrahman Modu (2028) 6’7 wing. This young wing has SCARY potential. Not only is he 6’7 as a freshman, but his motor is non stop, and he is extremely coachable. Once he’s able to develop a better handle and an even more consistent jumper, there will be a lot of coaches that will be calling him. Remember his name!
Lair Hill (2028) 6’1 guard. Lair has one of the quickest shots from someone so young, and he shoots it at an extremely high clip. He’s developing a handle and IQ to be able to contribute at this very high level of hoops. The future is bright for Lair Hill. Plays AAU with Supreme Hoops Canada. 3.6 gpa
Michael Parris (2028) 6’3 guard. Parris is a very mature basketball player for his age. He carries himself like a veteran. He has a great jumper (NBA range) and having such a great handle with his size, at his age, is hard to find. Once he gets even stronger, this kid has a shot to be something special. Plays AAU with KethumIfYouCan.
Abraham Tounkara (2028) 6’5 wing - Tounkara is another young athlete whose potential is there. He has shown major growth in a short time with his jumper, handle and finishing ability. He is more of a long term prospect, but he already has good height, but he may not be done growing. His Mom is 6’2 and played at Fordham. His Dad is 6’6.
