2024-25 Rye Country Day School Player Profiles

Rye Country Day School is a very high academic, co-educational, independent day school in Rye, NY about 30 miles from New York City. The boys varsity basketball team is coached by Jared Jones in his first year at the helm. Coach Jones has over a decade of experience coaching, including roles in Division I programs at Charleston Southern and Hofstra University. He also heads Dream Team Elite, his own youth travel program.
The team competes in the Fairchester Athletic Association as their local conference, and they also compete across New England to land a possible postseason tournament bid in the college-bound player rich NEPSAC Class B and/or the New York State Association of Independent Schools, Class C Championship tournament.

Fransico Luz (2025) 6’6 forward - Luz can shoot the ball at a high level and has a very good basketball IQ. Coach Jones, “We are excited to see what is in store for Fran this year. He brings a lot of length and shooting to our program, as well as leadership.”
George Zhan (2027) 6’0 guard - Zhan is a quick guard that can pick up full court to defend. He is very tough and plays with a tremendous amount of effort. “Looking forward to seeing George make a big jump going into his sophomore year. George has worked really hard on his game this summer and is going to have a much bigger role on the team.” Plays AAU with Dream Team Elite.
Johnny Gasparo (2025) 5’11 guard - Gasparo is a high IQ guard that can stretch the floor. He is always looking to find his teammates and is an EXCELLENT communicator.
Shamar Williams (2025) 6’0 guard - Williams brings a wealth of experience at the Varsity level. He plays like a Swiss Army knife. Whatever the team needs, he’s willing to do. He has a high IQ and sneaky athleticism. He also brings great cutting and finishing ability.
Teddy Cooper (2025) 6’5 center - Cooper is a lefty knock-down shooter and a bruising rebounder. He is an amazing team player and has the chance to really make his impact this year.
Amir Hogans (2026) 6’3 guard - Hogans is a 3 level scorer who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our program. Big guard who knows how to use his size and has a very high IQ. Defensively he can match up positions 1-4 and pick up full court. Plays AAU with Wiz Kids. 3.7 gpa
Lucius Liu (2026) 5’9 guard - Liu is an elite shooting guard that is very crafty with the basketball. He also has a tremendous feel for the game and will be the grittiest player on the defensive end. Plays AAU with Dream Team Elite. 3.7 gpa
Caiden Howard (2027) 6’3 wing - Howard is a lefty with impressive athleticism and high upside. He has great court vision and is a strong finisher around the rim. Per Coach Jones, “Caiden’s athletic ability and vision make him a force on the court. His finishing around the rim sets him apart, and we’re excited about his potential to continue developing.” Plays AAU with Dream Team Elite.
Henry Kosan (2027) 6’2 guard - Kosan is a lefty workhorse who brings a high level of physicality for his age. He is known for his ability to hit the 3-pointer and create for others. Coach Jones, “Henry’s commitment to the game and physical play style makes him an invaluable asset. He’s poised to make a big leap this year, adding depth with his shooting and playmaking.” Plays AAU with Dream Team Elite.
