2024-25 Bedford Academy Player Profiles
The Bedford Academy is a high school in Brooklyn that prepares its students for careers in medicine, engineering and law. Its boys varsity basketball team competes in the New York City Public School Athletic League Brooklyn III, Division 3A. The team is coached by Robert Phelps, Sr. Coach Phelps is a former professional player in Europe and a NYC legendary scoring guard, who shredded defenses with dead-eye perimeter shooting at Nazareth High School in the 1990’s.

Dakota Harrison (2025) 6’1, 170lb swing man - “Kota” is a team captain, a 4-year letterman and is the quintessential coach’s dream player. He exemplified hard work and discipline both on and off the court under the guidance of Coach Phelps. As a leader of the Panthers, he dominates in every toughness category: rebounds, charges taken, deflections, loose ball recoveries, and guarding the toughest opponents. An intense competitor, Harrison is not only the second-leading scorer but also leads the team in free throw makes, 3-point shooting percentage, and midrange jumpers. His relentless work ethic and willingness to outwork everyone else make him a standout player who will thrive at the collegiate level.
Rob Phelps Jr. (2025) 6’5, 180lb guard - A 16-year-old senior boasts tremendous upside and limitless potential. As the son of the legendary player and coach Robert Phelps, he has basketball in his blood. Robert Jr. leads the Panthers in both scoring and rebounding, showcasing exceptional footwork and ball-handling skills that allow him to maneuver past taller defenders with ease. His ability to finish at the rim with either hand is a major asset, complemented by his silky-smooth jump shot from midrange and beyond the arc. A versatile scorer, Robert Jr. has all the tools to excel at the next level.
Micah Tousaint (2025) 6’2, 175lb guard - Dubbed “Mr. Energy”, Tousaint is an athletic dynamo. His explosive speed and boundless energy enable him to cover the length of the court on both ends with ease. Kai is a relentless defender who thrives on shutting down opponents, and his offensive game is just as impressive, with strong finishes at the rim and a reliable midrange jumper off the dribble. His excitement and enthusiasm for the game are contagious, and his coachability and positive attitude make him an invaluable asset to the team.
Jayden Wint (2025) 5’11, 180lb shooting guard - Wint returns to the team after an early injury last season sidelined him. Determined to make an impact, he has shown promise with his ability to pop and shoot. Expect Wint to play a key role in the Panthers’ success this season.
Chauncey Coleman (2026) 6’0, 155lb, small forward Coleman is a quiet but deadly “assassin” on the court. Known for his shooting ability and uncanny skills, Coleman combines his 98 academic average with his basketball acumen, making him an impressive all-around player.
Sean Dawson (2026) 6’0, 155lb guard - Dawson has made remarkable strides over the summer. His hard work has improved every aspect of his game, and his relentless effort ensures continued growth. With his dedication and determination, he is poised to surpass expectations and make a significant impact for the Panthers.
Levi Dougherty (2026) 5’8, 148lb point guard - Dougherty is a sharpshooting junior with unlimited range. Now in his second varsity season, he has improved his ball-handling skills, making him a more versatile guard. A cerebral player, he is on track to become an excellent point guard who can both facilitate and score.
Sebastian Harding (2026) 5’8, 150 lb point guard - Harding thrives under Coach Phelps’ system. His speed, quickness, and court vision make him the perfect fit for an aggressive, defense-oriented team. He has a knack for setting up teammates, and his ability to hit midrange and 3-point shots adds another dimension to his game. He is strong, fearless, and eager to learn. He is a coachable player with a bright future.
Jaylen Henlon (2026) 5’10, 175lb point guard - Henlon is a defensive force. In his second year as a varsity player, Henlon earned significant minutes as a sophomore. Known for his strong, downhill attacks and tough defense, he continues to develop into a reliable two-way player.
Preston Kilkenny (2026) 6’2, 180lb point guard - Kilkenny is a sharpshooter from beyond the arc. Known for his 3-point prowess, Preston has made significant strides since joining the team, building his confidence and refining his skills. This season is poised to be his breakout year as he becomes a key offensive threat for the Panthers.
Aiden Millen (2026) 6’1, 175lb guard - Millen has significant upside and athletic potential. As he gains confidence, Aiden is expected to contribute more minutes to the Panthers. His good footwork allows him to attack the rim effectively, pull up for jumpers, and extend his shooting range.
Demin Harrison (2027) 5’7, 145lb point guard - Nicknamed “IQ” by legendary coach, Ted Gustus, Harrison showcases exceptional basketball intelligence. Following in the footsteps of his brother Dakota, he is a hard-working, vocal leader unafraid of big moments. A pure point guard with the ability to hit timely shots, Harrison is a future star who will undoubtedly play a major role on the varsity team this season.
