Located in the heart of Harlem, Frederick Douglass Academy 1 stands out as a premier college preparatory school, renowned for academic excellence and dedicated to equipping students with the tools needed for successful college endeavors. Their boys varsity basketball team competesin the PSAL Manhattan A II Division 2.


The team is coached by FDA alum, Andre Clark in his second season leading the team is set for a promising year. With a core of experienced seniors and talented newcomers, FDA1 is ready to contend. With strong leadership, skill development, and defensive intensity, FDA1 is poised for success. Their depth and versatility, combined with a balanced roster of returning players and talented newcomers, make them a team to watch this season. Expect a competitive campaign as they aim to build on their foundation of strong defense, team chemistry, and individual growth. Their players are profiled below.


Shamari Johnson (2025) 6’0 guard - Johnson is a dynamic two-way player, excelling as a point guard and an elite on-ball defender. He embraces the challenge of guarding the opposing team’s best player nightly. Offensively, he offers a strong midrange game, a solid three-point shot, and the ability to facilitate the team’s offense.


Mason Romero (2025) 6’0 guard - Stepping into the point guard role, Romero has made impressive strides. Known for his shooting, he now scores efficiently at the rim, midrange, and beyond the arc. His versatility and improved playmaking make him a key contributor. 3.0gpa


Ryan Blao (2025) 6’4 wing - Blao’s growth includes improved shooting, rebounding, and defensive capabilities. He anchors the team’s aggressive defense and provides a strong interior presence.


Momar Ndiaye (2025) 5’8 guard - Ndiaye is a defense-first player who brings energy, intensity, and leadership. As a strong on-ball defender, he helps apply defensive pressure while knowing when to pick his spots offensively. A great teammate, he consistently pushes those around him to improve. 3.2 gpa


Antonio Hilton (2025) - A four year Varsity player, Hilton provides invaluable leadership and experience, embodying the team’s values as a team-first player. 3.8 gpa


Aidyn Young (2026) 5’11 guard - Young is a versatile scorer who can finish at the rim and hit three-pointers. His improved defense, vocal leadership, and developing playmaking abilities make him a rising star.


Pierce Moye (2026) 6’0 guard - Moye is a scoring threat from the basket, midrange, and beyond the arc. He can run the offense with a tight handle and contribute as a strong rebounder from the guard position. His court vision and ability to make plays will be key assets to the team.


Yousseff Baby (2026) 6’2 wing - Baby is growing into a vital role on both ends of the floor. He’s developed an effective slashing game, adding another offensive dimension while also continuing to improve his defense and perimeter shooting. 3.5 gpa


Kwame Yeobah (2026) 6’3 small forward - Despite being undersized, Yeobah plays much taller than his height, excelling in rebounding and finishing around the basket. His grit and determination will be key assets for the team’s inside presence.


Dasani Williams (2026) 5’10 guard - Williams is a defensive specialist with high energy and leadership. He contributes offensively by picking the right moments to score.


Emmanuel Asare (2027) 6’0 guard: Asare is a young, competitive guard who plays hard every possession. He’s proven effective around the basket and midrange while developing his three-point shooting. Known for his intense defense, Asare enjoys matching up with tough guards. 3.4 gpa


Mouctar Bah (2028) 5’8 point guard - Bah is a freshman who has shown he’s ready to play varsity. A small but feisty point guard, Bah understands how to pick his spots, competes hard on defense, and has significantly improved his passing skills. He will contribute valuable minutes this season. 3.6 gpa
