2025 2A and 3A PSAL Finals Top Performers

On Sunday night, March 16, we paid a visit to the Steinberg Wellness Center on the campus of LIU Brooklyn in downtown Brooklyn for the PSAL championships for the 2A and 3A divisions. In the 2A championship game, Benjamin Banneker Academy knocked off Brooklyn College Academy. In the 3A championship game, Achievement First Brooklyn knocked off Graphics Communications Arts Campus. Both teams will advance to the PSAL vs. CHSAA Challenge, as they will be playing against the winner of the Catholic League in their respective divisions on March 23rd, also at LIU Brooklyn. Here are the standouts from the championship game:
Alden Cornelius 6-4, Forward, Benjamin Banneker Academy, Class of 2025 - A forward that has the ability to be formidable presence on both ends of the court. Has a great defensive posture, as he is able to block shots and obtain rebounds with reckless abandon. Is known for throwing down powerful dunks and is great for finishing when going up to score.
Kristian Jeremi-Charles, 6-0, Point Guard, Benjamin Banneker Academy, Class of 2026 - A guard that has the ability to see the floor well and run his team efficiently. Is able to use his quickness to his advantage, as he liked to get to the basket with ease. Has a penchant for distributing the ball and putting his teammates in position to score. Has a nice shooting stroke from three.
Matthew Jolivert, 5-10, Shooting Guard, Benjamin Banneker Academy, Class of 2025 - A guard that is able to provide instant offense on the floor. Is able to drive to the basket and can create for himself off the dribble. Has a penchant for getting his shot off efficiently when hitting long jumpers.
Kyle Goujean, 5-11, Point Guard, Brooklyn College Academy, Class of 2025 - A guard that has jet-like quickness and is a great defender when he is on the floor, as he is able to obtain steals. Is a player that can shoot from long range when he is on three-point line or at the top of the key. Is able to dish out the ball to his teammates and can find his teammates, who are able to score in transition.
Derik Charles 6-1, Shooting Guard, Brooklyn College Academy, Class of 2025 - A guard that is able to do many things on the floor when he has the ball in his hands. Is a player that can shoot from long range. Is fearless when going to the basket, as he is able to score efficiently. Has a penchant for finding his teammates and putting them in position to score.
Adonys Villafane, 6-0, Point Guard, Graphics Campus Arts, Class of 2025 - A guard that has the ability to use his quickness when in transition and has a quick first step. Is known for hitting mid-range jumpers when on the offensive end. Is able to get to the basket and can finish efficiently.
Jaiden Pagan, 6-4, Forward, Graphics Communications Arts Educational Campus, Class of 2026 - A forward that has great size and length and has the ability to be an enforcer in the paint area. Is able to crash the boards for rebounds and has great hands. Is able to be an inside force when going to the basket and finishing efficiently.
Babacar Gueye, 6-0, Shooting Guard, Graphics Communication Arts Educational Campus, Class of 2025 - A guard that has the ability to be a playmaker when on the court. Is able to hit the open man when on the break and can help teammates gain scoring opportunities. Has a penchant for making clutch baskets, including hitting mid-range shots or driving to the basket.
Kalieck Minter, 5-11, Point Guard, Achievement First Brooklyn High School, Class of 2025 - A guard that has the ability to be a true playmaker when he is on the fast break. Is a player that can slice through the defenses and can also finish strongly when going to the basket. Has a penchant for hitting plenty of shots from three-point range. Is a player that has the ability to find his teammates when they are open at the right moments.
Jayveon Jones, 6-1, Shooting Guard, Achievement First Brooklyn High School, Class of 2027 - A guard that is very active on both ends of the court. Has a penchant for getting to the basket and is known for throwing down powerful dunks. Is a great defensive player, as he able to obtain steals and can then run in transition. Has a nice shooting touch from the three.
Jayden Linton, 6-4, Forward, Achievement First Brooklyn High School, Class of 2025 - A forward that has the ability to utilize his skills in many ways on the floor. Has the ability to put the ball on the floor and is able to get past the opposition and get to the basket. Is a very athletic player that can get to the basket and is able to finish efficiently when at the rim.
