2025 New Haven Heat Select 17u Player Profiles

The New Haven Heat is a highly regarded developer of college-bound talent in the basketball rich Greater New Haven, CT region. Doc Kennedy runs the program. Their 17u Select Team is coached by Lawrence McGill . He is assisted by Craig Wilson, Jr. a current player at Rhode Island College.

Gerome Barnes (2026) 6’1 guard, Hamden High (CT) - Barnes is a combo guard who’s most comfortable getting to the mid-range, but also has with the ability to space the floor from 3. He is a feisty defender who will bring some physicality on the perimeter
Eli Ssenyange (2026) 6’3 guard, Notre Dame-West Haven High (CT) - Ssenyange is a true 3&D wing, who can take over games from the outside. His improved ball handling has made him a threat at different levels on the court. He can guard 4 positions at a high level
Casleem Washington (2026) 6’4 small forward, Crosby High (CT) - Washington is an athletic forward who has a knack for rebounding the basketball and finishing around the rim. He is improving as a point of attack wing off of the bounce.
Miguel Chaparo (2026) 6’1 guard, Amistad High (CT) - Chaparro is a point of attack guard who loves to get out in transition to make plays for himself and others. He is an improving shooter who’s able to be a floor spacer and knock down shots. He plays with high energy on the defensive end and is willing to pick up guards the full 94 feet
Chris Torres Jr. (2026) 6’3 guard, Darrow School - Torres is a southpaw wing who thrives getting out in transition and using his frame to get to the rim or get to his spots inside 17 feet. He has a high IQ with the ability to make plays for himself and others. He can guard 4 positions and is an improved rebounder.
Jaynatae “Moca” Jackson (2026) 5’7 point guard, Hamden High (CT) - Jackson is a scrappy point guard who loves to pickup 94 feet on defense and use his energy to impact games on that side of the floor. He is an improved decision maker and is continuing to grow as a shooter.
George Ganim (2026) 5’10 point guard, Norte Dame-West Haven High (CT) - Ganim is a steady point guard who controls the tempo and controls the offense throughout an entire game. He thrives driving and kicking to shooters. He can also play off-ball in the shooter role if need be. He is a fundamentally sound defender
Jovan Lakaj (2026) 6’4 small forward, Notre Dame-West Haven High (CT) - Lakaj is a southpaw forward who does a little bit of everything. He guards both the 4 and 5 positions, rebounds the basketball at a high rate, hits shots and/or makes high IQ plays. He is an improved shooter who’s able can create mismatches for himself or others.
Takki Oliver (2026) 6’5 small forward, Amistad High ((CT) - Oliver is a long, rangy forward who is continuing to grow into his body. He thrives in transition and likes to get downhill to finish over defenders. His long wingspan and standing reach allows him to play the passing lanes and alter a lot of shots as a help side defender.
Craig Guest Jr. (2025) 6’1 guard, Wilbur Cross High (CT) - Guest is a knockdown shooter who creates space for others with him being on the floor. He is an improved ball handler, which allows him to get to his mid-range pull up or attack and get to the rim or foul line.
Rayquan Anderson (committed to College of Our Lady of the Elms during the spring) (2025) 6’6 forward, Crosby High (CT) - Anderson is a stretch 4 who has a finesse game, but thrives in drawing contact to get to the line. He is an improved shooter from the outside and spreads the floor for others. He is also a good rim protector getting timely blocks or alters.
