2025 New York Lighting EYBL 17u Player Profiles

The New York Lightning (NYL) is one of the region’s most highly regarded grassroots programs, known for producing high talent, high character college-bound players and being stacked with a deep bench of excellent coaches. The program is co-directed by Dana Dingle and Shandue McNeill.

 

Their 17u team that is coached by Our Savior Lutheran Head Coach, Peter Wehye Jr. Shandue McNeil, Darryl Washington and former Iona College player Jonathan Severe. The team competes in the Nike sponsored Elite Youth Basketball League. Nike EYBL is a well-known AAU basketball circuit featuring high school-age players. Nike and the NBA collaborate on programming for EYBL, including player and coach development, and health and wellness initiatives.


2025 New York Lighting EYBL 17u team roster is as follows.

 

#1 DJ Biggins Jr. (2026) 6’2 guard, Kingswood Oxford School (CT) - (Boston College football commit) 3.4 gpa


#2 David Gaymon (2026) 6’4 guard, Cardinal Hayes High - 2024-25 CHSAA AA Second Team. Gaymon is a relentless attacker off of the dribble. He’s comfortable driving in either direction and finishing with either hand. He’s reliable in the mid range pull-up and can knock down the three.


#3 Troy Fason Jr. (2026) 6’0 guard, Lawrence Woodmere School - He is physically strong, can finish with contact. He also understands how to run a team. Receiving D1 interest.


#5 Torrey Brooks (2026) 6’1 guard, Camden High (NJ) Brooks is a quick, skilled guard who consistently puts pressure on the defense with his speed and handle. He can create his own shot, knock down jumpers, and finish through contact. Beyond scoring, he has strong court vision, setting up teammates for easy buckets. His balanced offensive game makes him a tough cover.


#11 Jimmy Kelly (2026) 6’6 guard, Goshen High - Kelly is an elite shot maker from behind the arc, guards multiple positions, rebounds tremendously well for his 6’5 size and can start transition, off the board can play above the rim at times, dunking with ease 3.9 gpa


#12 Jah’da Swann (2026) 6’5 guard, Thomas Jefferson High - 2024-25 NY Sports Writers Class AAA Player of the Year. Swann is strong and can play multiple positions. He has suuperior athleticism, which he uses on the defensive end to shot block and rebound. He is good at the midrange jumper.


#15 Abdou Mazou (2026) 6’9 forward, Thurgood Marshall High - Mazou is a fluid athlete. He gets his team extra possessions by being outstanding on the offensive glass. He plays above the rim with relative. His long arms and height make him a defensive menace in the paint.  Has received a D1 offer from Norfolk State. 3.0 gpa


#20 Alexander Bryant (2025) 6’8 forward, South Kent School (CT) - Bryant has a 7’3 wingspan which allows him to be an elite rim protector and help defender. He sets great picks, getting the angles right.  His size and athleticism makes him a strong scorer in the paint.  3.8 gpa


#21 Julian Desir (2026) 6’7 forward, Lawrence Woodmere School High - Desir brings plenty of energy when he is on the floor. He is a very active rebounder that also loves to run on the fast break. He has the ability to get to the basket and finishing with authority.


#23 Oesoemana Sacko (2026) 6’8 forward, St. Francis Prep - 2024-25 CHSAA AA First Team. Sacko is a major talent He does everything, shoots the 3, rebounds and blocks shots. He recorded multiple double-doubles during his last two high school seasons. Has received multiple D1 offers, including Boston College, Manhattan, Marist, LIU, Florida International, Old Dominion and Mississippi State


#24 Elhadji Diallo (2026) 6’8 forward, Our Saviour Lutheran School - Diallo is an active and athletic big known for his defensive prowess. He is impactful in protecting the rim, using his length and desire to dominate. Offensively, he can finish inside but is comfortable as a passer and decision-maker out top.
