2025 NY Gauchos 15u Player Profiles

The New York Gauchos Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) basketball program offers youth in New York City the highest quality athletic programming, academic support and enrichment, and opportunities for lifelong success. Their goals are to produce athletes who can play basketball at the highest competitive levels, and to cultivate strong students and well-rounded citizens. Since 1967, the internationally-recognized New York Gauchos have operated under the stewardship of Teamwork Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit located in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx.  Each year they provide approximately 300 student athletes with an elite travel team experience, academic enrichment, and educational opportunities. Their home is the iconic the Gauchos Gym in the Bronx.


The Gauchos have a 15u boys team in 2025 that is coached by former Westchester Community College coach, Ty Mushatt. The players’ profiles are as below

                     

Angel Navarro (2028) 6’2 guard, Monsignor Scanlan High - A versatile wing player with strong defensive instincts and a high motor. Navarro contributes on both ends of the floor and thrives in transition, making him a key piece on the perimeter for Scanlan.


Anthony Hibbert (2028) 5’8 point guard, Archbishop Stepinac High - A crafty floor general known for his quick first step and leadership on the court. Hibbert brings a high basketball IQ and sets the tone for Stepinac’s offense with his playmaking and ball control.


Baylor Lapin (2028) 5’9 point guard, Iona Prep - A sharp-shooting guard with deep range and a scorer’s mentality. Lapin spreads the floor and plays with confidence, constantly moving without the ball and knocking down shots under pressure.


Elijah Novotny (2028) 6’7 forward, Archbishop Stepinac High - A physical presence in the paint with a developing perimeter game. Novotny protects the rim, rebounds at a high level, and provides interior scoring, making him a reliable post option for Stepinac.


Michael O’Meara (2028) 6’6 forward, Iona Prep - A strong and skilled forward who plays both inside and out. O’Meara offers matchup versatility, using his size and touch to score in a variety of ways while also defending multiple positions.


Amir Williams (2028) 6’3 guard, Christ the King High - An athletic wing with explosive ability and a smooth handle. Williams plays above the rim and excels in open-court situations, while also locking in on defense and hitting mid-range jumpers consistently.


Christian Jean-Baptiste (2028) 5’8 point guard, Holy Cross High - A quick and fearless guard who brings energy and tempo to the game. Jean-Baptiste is a creative passer and tough defender who leads with heart and hustle, impacting both ends of the floor.


TyGee Mushatt Jr. (2028) 6’0 point guard, Iona Prep - A combo guard with strong ball-handling skills and scoring ability. Mushatt can run the offense or create his own shot, and his aggressive style keeps defenses on their heels.
