2025 Rens United 16u-Etkins Player Profiles

Rens United is an high academic oriented team affiliated with the renown NY Rens program. The program is New York City based but players are sourced from multiple states. They have a strong history of sending athletes to high-academic universities at all three levels across the northeast.


The 16u-Etkins team is head coached by Troy Etkins, and he is assisted by James Merchant and Carl Devolier. The team competes in the MADE Hoops circuit and their roster is as profiled below.

Jake Huber (2027) 5’11 point guard, New Fairfield High (CT) - Huber is a hard-nosed point guard who excels at controlling the tempo of the game.

 

Justus Gales (2028) 5’7 point guard, St. John the Baptist High - Gales is scrappy point guard known for his tenacious defense and ability to play effectively on both ends of the court.

 

Tony Etkins (2027) 6’0 shooting guard, St. John the Baptist High - Etkins is an excellent ball handler who can create his own shots and is a reliable three-point shooter.

 

Michael Olowoyo (2027) 6’4 forward, Achievement First High-Brooklyn - Olowoyo is a strong rebounder and shot blocker with a great touch from the foul line.  3.7 gpa

 

Simar Singh (2027) 6’7 forward, Benjamin N. Cardozo High School - Singh is known for his quick feet, solid rebounding skills and his soft touch around the rim.

 

Jack Vafeas  (2027) 6’3 shooting guard, Half Hollow Hills West High - Vafeas is a strong rebounder who also finishes well around the rim.

 

Justin Mompoint  (2026) 6’0 guard, St Mary’s High - Mompoint is a dynamic slasher who also has the ability to shoot effectively from three-point range.  3.3 gpa

 

Josh Smith  (2027) 6’4 wing, Ossining High - Smith defends the post well, and he possesses a good shooting touch from beyond the arc.
