Marianapolis Preparatory School is an independent, co-ed, Catholic boarding and day school located in Thompson, CT for grades 9-12 and postgraduates. The boys varsity basketball competes in the talent-rich NEPSAC Class B Division (medium sized schools), led by fifth year Head Coach Tommy DiColella. Coach DiColella is excited for his squad this season, as he features a skilled team filled with high academic prospects and coachable players willing to buy into the culture of the team. Marianapolis is also continuing its history of bringing in international players, in addition to its American-born talent, as profiled below.

 

Kaan Akkol (2026) 6’6 forward - Incoming senior from Gelrode, Belgium, Akkol is a face up big with plenty of range to back up his game. He moves his feet very well for his size, and is quick enough to defend smaller players when needed. He also is a threat on the glass and passes the ball really well especially out of the post. Akkol should be poised for a strong NEPSAC debut looking to make an impact in his senior year. Video highlights  

 

Kody Jamieson (2026) 6’2 guard - A high academic prospect, Jameson is a returning captain coming off a 13 ppg season in class B. He is a smart guard who understands playing in a system and working both on the ball and off to create for others. Heis a vocal leader on the court who takes charges and gets deflections while being able to guard multiple positions. This knockdown shooter has proven his ability to make big shots and play at a high level, coming off a big aau season. Jameson is able to score at all 3 levels, getting to the rim off two and knocking down the midrange, while his best ability is the high level of shot making behind the 3 point line. Plays AAU with Above the Rim Elite-NXT. 3.6 gpa Video highlights


Gabe Huss (2026) 5’10 guard - Huss is coming off of a double digit scoring NEPSAC debut season, veteran sharpshooter. He is a high end playmaker, able to get his shot off of ball screens, and is very capable of making plays off the dribble, finding the next open man and creating plays for others. Huss is a confident shooter capable of hitting off ball screens and pull ups. He is a relentless defender who will play hard on ball defense and is very unselfish. Video highlights 

 

Max Pires (2026) 6’3 guard - Coming off of recently earning ALL- NEPSAC Honorable Mention for Class B, Pires is a strong guard who utilizes his strength and quickness to get to the rim on two feet at a high level, draw fouls and finish strong while converting from the FT line. He has a high motor who possesses the ability to clear the boards well and go coast to coast in transition with poise and ambition. Pires has improved his jumper a ton this offseason and has added a new dimension of stretching the floor offensively. His strength, size and athleticism make him a strong defensive candidate who can guard 1-5 at a high level and rebound well for his position. Additionally, Pires has taken on an increased leadership role and is a crucial member of establishing a winning culture to the locker room. Max is poised for a big spring/summer this year.

 

Andrew Bergeron (2026) 6’0 guard - A 3 year NEPSAC veteran and a high academic prospect, Bergeron has great perception, and is capable of making some tough shots inside, while also showcasing some serious range from deep. Athletic guard who defends at a high level, is a high IQ player who consistently makes the smart plays and never forces anything. Great communicator on both ends of the floor and is a great playmaker on and off the ball.  3.8 gpa

 

Anthony Alexander (2026) 6’5 small forward - A high academic and hard working, Alexander is a long athletic forward who stretches the floor well with his outside jumper and utilizes his length to his advantage on both offense and defense. He has a strong act of attacking the paint and finishing with touch. Alexander utilizes his athleticism to protect the rim and clear the boards at a high level. He possesses a strong motor and is great in transition.  3.5 gpa

 

Vinny Dellasanta (2026)- 6’2 guard - An athletic player who has the ability to score from all three levels. He consistently knocks down shots from beyond the college three point line. Dellasanta plays off two feet, has great footwork and elevation to score at the rim. His mid range touch is exceptional with floaters and pivot based separation shots. He has a great feel for the game, making the right reads to open teammates, with a low turnover rate. He runs the court well and has a knack for scoring in transition situations. Dellasanta is a versatile defender that can guard multiple positions with strength and lateral quickness. He is a very high end rebounder from the guard position. He is an excellent leader often looking to encourage teammates and elevate their level of play. He is a team first player who has a clear passion for the game of basketball. Video highlights

 

Ty Grudzien (2027) 6’0 guard - A high academic and athletic guard, who demonstrates an exceptional skill with ball handling and passing. Grudzien possesses a high IQ of the basketball game and is very unselfish with the basketball. He is a high level playmaker who attacks the basket with aggression and composure always being balanced and on two feet. He has exceptional range and can also stretch out the floor effectively. Grudzien is a tremendous leader who is very vocal on all ends of the floor. He is an exceptional defender who is known to sacrifice his body and make the hustle plays most players often avoid to do. 3.6 GPA. Video highlights

 

Caiden Steeves (2027) 5’11 guard - Strong playmaker that is very poised with the ball in his hands, Steves has some solid outside range, and is capable of making some high level scoring plays. His speed also helps him defensively, as well as pushing and running the floor in transition, while never forcing anything but making the right and simpler plays. Had a strong end of season last year and is only going to continue to develop as a high level scorer and player.

 

Miller Chen (2028) 6’5 small forward - A high level prospect from the Joe Tsai Foundation, Chen is a smooth and versatile wing, who has a quick first step and solid outside jumper who hits shots consistently. He is a very skilled wing that handles the ball well, and runs the lanes well in transition. Chen can score in a variety of ways and has good size and athleticism. He utilizes his length, can guard multiple positions and defend 1-4 at a high level. Chen has had a strong journey in his development so far and is continuing to grow and gain strength as he develops.
