2025 Gauchos Roundball Classic Top Performers

On Saturday afternoon, September 27, we were at the Gauchos Gym in The Bronx for the Gauchos Roundball Classic, a fall event which featured several teams from our region. We caught two games. Kennedy Catholic, a Catholic High School Athletic Association Division B team out of Somers, New York, played a doubleheader against two teams from the PSAL Manhattan/Bronx AAAA division in Wings Academy and Adlai Stevenson Educational Campus. Here are the standouts from both games.

Tymer Jeter, 5-10, Shooting Guard, Wings Academy, Class of 2027 - A guard that has plenty of explosion and is able to get to the basket with ease. Is able to drive off of a quick first step and is a solid finisher, especially when going to the rim. Is a player that is known for being a true playmaker, as he is able to dish the ball to the opposition when the opportunity allows.

John Carlos Rodriguez, 5-9, Point Guard, Wings Academy, Class of 2027 - A guard that has the ability to see the floor and is known for his playmaking ability. Is able to attack in transition when the opportunity presents itself. Is able to dish off a pass to his teammates and puts them in position to score.

Fabian Jimbo 6-5, Forward, Wings Academy, Class of 2026 - A forward that has the ability to hold his own when in the low post. Is about to put the ball on the floor and muscle his way to the basket. Has a penchant for using his physicality to his advantage, especially when on the offensive end. Has a penchant for attacking the glass when it comes to obtaining rebounds.

German Colon, 6-0, Shooting Guard, Wings Academy, Class of 2027 - A guard that has the ability to make his presence felt at the two-guard position. Is able to attack when driving to the basket & is a great finisher when going up for two. Is able to hit shots from three-point range, especially when left open on the perimeter.

Ari Boubert, 5-6, Point Guard, Kennedy Catholic High School, Class of 2030 - A guard with excellent court vision and someone that is able to control his team’s tempo whenever he’s on the floor. Has the ability to put teammates in position to score when they’re open on the break by hitting them with passes that lead to baskets. Has a nice shooting touch from mid-range to the three-point line.

Christian Gojcaj, 6-4, Forward, Kennnedy Catholic High School, Class of 2028 - A forward that is solid and is able to be a force around the basket. Is able to put the ball on the floor and can attack the glass when the opportunity presents itself. Is able to run in transition and is able to find ways to get open when getting to the basket.

Julian Evans, 6-2, Forward, Kennedy Catholic High School, Class of 2026 - A forward that has the ability to use his physicality when the opportunity presents itself. Has a penchant for being able to muscle his way to the basket when going to score. Is a player that is able to outwork the opposition for rebounds.

Ismael Rodriguez, 6-8, Forward, Adlai Stevenson Educational Campus, Class of 2027 - A forward that has the ability to hold his own in the post area. Has good footwork and is able to move around well in the paint area. Makes strong drives in the post area and is able to finish strong when going to the basket. Is able to use his hands to block shots and obtain rebounds in the paint area.

Elier Melenciano, 6-2, Shooting Guard, Adlai Stevenson Educational Campus, Class of 2026 - A guard that is skilled and can attack in transition at all times. Is a player that can use his quickness when going to the hole. Has plenty of explosion in his game, as he is also one to play above the rim. Is known to get his shot off efficiently from mid-range. Is able to distribute the ball to his teammates when scoring opportunities arise.

Yohansel Castro 6-0, Point Guard, Adlai Stevenson Educational Campus, Class of 2026 - A guard with a quick first step and the ability to be a force when he has the ball in his hands. Has the ability to get his shot off efficiently from long range and also mid-range. Is able to see the floor and is able to distribute the ball to his teammates and can put them in position to score.
