In 1994, the New York City Department of Education sponsored the first systemic effort to redesign a large high school in the Bronx. Wings Academy was one of five pioneering small schools resulting from that effort, founded on the premise of helping young people use their minds well. Their boys basketball team competes in the Manhattan/Bronx AAAA Division. Jabor Forde is in his second season as the team’s head coach. In just one year, Coach Forde has begun to change the culture at Wings Academy. After inheriting a program that finished 6–18, he led the team to a 15–12 record and a top-four finish in the division in his first varsity season. Now entering year two, Coach Forde and his staff, Jamie Harris (former Wings and Drexel University player), Terryence Wilson, Michael Salvatore, Doug Jones and Isiah Forde — are looking to take another leap. With the addition of high-level transfers, returning contributors, and a stronger overall roster, profiled below, Wings Academy has its sights set on competing for both the Bronx championship and the PSAL city title.

The team is running an Open Gym schedule this fall and encourage college scouts to attend.

JJ Addison (2026) 6’6 shooting guard/small forward – Addison will be the centerpiece of this year’s team. He arrives at Wings with high expectations. A former Frederick High (MD) Player of the Year, he averaged 24 points and 8 rebounds last season leading his team to the State Championship. He holds Division I offers from Bethune-Cookman and UMass-Lowell. With his size, athleticism, and scoring ability, Addison has the potential to be an All-State selection and one of the top players in the PSAL. His presence instantly elevates Wings into city championship contention.

Emmanuel Lewis Nieves (2026) 5’9 point guard – The team’s leader at point guard, Lewis is the engine that keeps Wings moving. Last season, he delivered in big games, dropping 21 points and 5 assists against Eagle Bronx and posting 22 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 steals versus August Martin. Known for his toughness, playmaking, and ability to rise to the moment, Emmanuel will be leaned on to guide this group both on and off the court.  3.2 gpa

Fabian Jimbo (2026) 6’5 forward - Jimbo is the anchor inside, bringing rebounding, toughness, and scoring to the frontcourt. He averaged 9 points and 9 rebounds last season, with standout performances such as 16 points and 14 rebounds against Overbrook (PA) and a dominant 13-point, 18-rebound outing versus Truman. Entering his senior year, Jimbo is poised for a breakout season as one of the top big men in the Bronx.

Demitri Lewis (2026) 6’3 shooting guard - A transfer from Promise Academy, Lewisi was his team’s leading scorer last season and comes in as a proven perimeter threat. A big-time shooter with deep range, he’s expected to be a major contributor for Wings, giving the team another weapon on the offensive end and helping stretch the floor for their forwards.  3.4 gpa

Mohamed Bangoura (2026) 6’7 center - Bangoura, a transfer from Eagle Bronx, brings much-needed size and strength to the middle. A member of the regional team last season, he has the tools to develop into one of the top bigs in the PSAL. With his ability to rebound, protect the rim, and finish inside, Bangoura adds another dimension to Wings’ frontcourt.

Deshawn Carnegie Jr. (2027) 6’0 guard - Carnegie returns as one of the team’s most dynamic scorers after finishing last season as Wings’ second-leading scorer. Known for his shooting range and ability to take over games, he had multiple standout performances last year and will continue to be a key part of the backcourt. His experience and scoring punch make him vital to this year’s success.

Tymere Jeter (2027) 5’10 point guard - An explosive athlete at the guard position, Jeter plays well above the rim despite his size. He will take his bumps as a junior adjusting to varsity competition, but his athleticism, energy, and fearless approach give him the potential to become a major impact player this season.

German Colon (2027) 6’0 guard – Colon provides defensive toughness and brings effort every time he steps on the floor. A hard-nosed defender who also has the ability to knock down the open shot, he gives Wings important depth and energy in the backcourt.
