Riverdale Country School (RCS) is an independent coeducational day school located in the Bronx, New York. Founded in 1907, Riverdale is one of the region’s premier academic and athletic institutions, competing in the Ivy Preparatory League. The school enrolls over 1,000 students from Pre-K through Grade 12, with a strong tradition of academic excellence, community leadership, and competitive athletics.


Riverdale’s boys basketball program has developed into one of New York City’s most respected high school programs. Known for its balance of toughness, intelligence, and unselfish play, the team consistently produces college-level talent and competes against some of the top programs in the metropolitan area. In addition to Ivy League play, The Falcons prepare for their winter campaign by playing in elite preseason showcases and scrimmages across the Tri-state region.

The team is head coached by Brendan Barile, a son of a high school coach, a former college player at City College of New York, and former player, a coach and a player-coach in international play.

Ryder Rasch (2026) 6’1 point guard — A dynamic guard who impacts the game on both ends, Rasch is a high-level scorer and playmaker with an advanced feel for tempo and spacing. He attacks gaps, finishes through contact, and consistently creates advantages off the dribble. Defensively, he sets the tone with his on-ball pressure and communication. Keertan Sawtell (2026) 6’2 point guard — A high-IQ floor general who does everything well. Sawtell is a true leader, organizing both ends of the floor with composure and toughness. He plays with pace, values possessions, and raises the level of everyone around him. His decision-making and command make him one of the steadiest guards in the league. Plays AAU with NY ETA. Nolan Weathers (2026) 6’2 wing — A three-level scorer and elite defender committed to Wesleyan University. Weathers brings intensity, poise, and versatility, thriving as a lockdown perimeter defender while providing consistent offensive production. He spaces the floor with confidence and plays with a professional approach on both ends. Plays AAU with NY ETA. High gpa


Jack Moynahan (2026) 6’6 wing — A long, tough, and skilled shooter who anchors the team’s spacing. Moynahan averaged 8 rebounds per game and hit 40% from three as a junior, bringing a rare combination of rebounding, toughness, and marksmanship. Plays AAU with Riverside Select. High gpa


Harry Alper (2026) 6’3 wing — A do-it-all player who defends, rebounds, and facilitates. Alper contributes across every statistical category and has the versatility to guard multiple positions. His IQ and willingness to do the little things make him a winning piece in every lineup. Plays AAU with ABC Basketball. High gpa


Charles Lipshultz (2026) 5’9 guard — An incredibly skilled scoring guard who can take over a game with his shot creation and competitiveness. When he adds rebounding and playmaking to his scoring, he looks like the best player on the floor. Plays AAU with Good NRGY. High gpa


Casey Karsch (2027) 6’4 forward — A relentless rebounder who led the league in offensive boards as a sophomore. Karsch combines toughness and athleticism with emerging shooting touch, projecting significant upside as a stretch forward. Plays AAU with ABC Basketball. High gpa


Jack Rodriguez (2027) 5’9 guard — A tough, fearless guard and microwave scorer from deep. Rodriguez competes with confidence and is capable of catching fire quickly. His scoring ability and edge make him a spark plug for the Falcons. Plays AAU with 6th Boro Hoops. High gpa


Jake Liston (2028) 6’2 wing — An athletic, versatile young wing who impacts every possession. Liston defends, rebounds, and attacks the rim with energy beyond his years, making him one of the most promising underclassmen in the program. Plays AAU with NY Rens. High gpa
