Rens United is an high academic oriented team affiliated with the renown NY Rens program. The program is New York City based but players are sourced from multiple states. They have a strong history of sending athletes to high-academic universities at all three levels across the northeast.
The 17u-Smith team is head coached by Jay Smith, one of the premier program builders in the region, Coach Jay has established himself as a proven leader on the Nike EYCL circuit. With over a decade of experience developing high-level talent, he’s coached at Iona Prep, Monsignor Scanlan, and currently serves as an Assistant Coach at The Masters School, a NEPSAC affiliated program. He is also the Middle School Director for Rens United, where he has built a pipeline rooted in skill development, discipline, and exposure. Coming off a historic 15–2 2025 EYCL season and the program’s first-ever Peach Jam appearance, Coach Jay continues to raise the standard—developing complete student-athletes and preparing them to compete and succeed at the next level.

#5 Jahzir Crawford (2026) 5’11 point guard, Holy Cross High (NY)- Crawford is ag ritty, battle-tested lead guard. Lives in the paint, embraces contact, and commands the floor with his voice. True floor general and tone-setter defensively. 3.0 gpa
#6 Denim Trotman (2026) 6’0 guard, Eagle Academy-Bronx - Trotman is a dynamic combo guard who impacts winning in a variety of ways. A shifty downhill guard, he excels at breaking down defenders, creating for teammates, and making plays in transition. His ability to change speeds and attack the paint makes him difficult to contain, while his developing dribble pull-up game continues to expand his offensive arsenal. Trotman is an acrobatic finisher, who consistently converts tough shots around the rim over bigger defenders using exceptional body control and touch. He is a natural playmaker who thrives with the ball in his hands and elevates those around him. Most importantly, Trotman is a winner. He plays with tremendous passion, energy, and enthusiasm for the game. Always smiling and bringing positive energy to the gym, his love for basketball is contagious. His competitiveness, toughness, and team-first mentality make him the type of player every coach wants in their program. 3.0 gpa
#8 Giovanni Moran (2027) 6’0 point guard, Eagle Academy-Bronx - Moran is a true floor general who impacts winning with his leadership, poise, and ability to control the game. A pass-first point guard by nature, he consistently creates opportunities for teammates while keeping the offense organized and playing at the right pace. Moran is also a three-level scorer who can knock down perimeter shots, create off the dribble, and finish in the paint when needed. On the defensive end, he competes with toughness, applies pressure to opposing guards, and takes pride in making winning plays. His combination of playmaking, scoring ability, basketball IQ, and defensive presence makes him one of the more complete lead guards in the Class of 2028. Has been offered by Albany and Quinnipiac. 3.0 gpa
#10 Morell Toney (2028) 6’5 guard, St. Mary’s High - Toney is a high-level prospect with real DI upside. He is only 15 years old, playing up at 17u. He is long, fluid, and explosive with natural scoring instincts. A true 3-level threat who can create his own shot, finish above the rim, and stretch the floor. He impacts the game beyond scoring, rebounds at a high rate for a guard, defends multiple positions and plays with a motor that separates him. The ceiling is extremely high and trending up fast. 3.4 gpa

#25 Dhilan Lowman (2028) 6’4 guard, Hotchkiss School (CT) - An elite shot-maker, 52% from three this past season. 2025 Connecticut ASFL Shooting Championship winner. A guard with size, feel, and high-level IQ. Consistent floor spacer who punishes defenses and plays winning basketball. 4.0 gpa
#27 Zion Robinson (2028) 6’11 forward, Hopkins School (CT) - A high-upside big with elite versatility. He protects the rim, runs the floor, and has the ability to stretch it. He is comfortable switching onto guards with great hands, footwork, and feel. Modern big with real impact on both ends. 3.4 gpa
#30 Sha-Cure Grant (2027) 6’7, small forward, Springfield Commonwealth Academy (MA) - A high-level prospect with clear D1 upside. He is physical, powerful, and plays bigger than 6’7. He has a relentless motor that impacts winning on both ends. Grant is a true presence in the paint—controls the glass, finishes through contact, and consistently gets to the free throw line. He is more than just physical, he’s a 3-level scorer who can face up, attack downhill, and step out when needed. Defensively, he brings toughness and versatility, able to guard multiple positions and protect the rim. Plays with edge, energy, and purpose every possession. 3.0 gpa
#38 Luis Carrillo Moss (2027) 6’9 small forward, The St. James (VA) - Moss is a skilled stretch forward with the ability to impact the game from multiple areas on the floor. A true three-level scorer, he shoots the ball with confidence from the perimeter, can score effectively with his back to the basket, and finishes strong around the rim using his size, strength, and touch. Moss is an active rebounder who consistently hunts the ball and creates extra possessions through his effort and physicality.
