2026 Cap City Scrapers National 17u Player Profiles

The Cap City Scrappers AAU program is based out of Albany, NY. Their mission is to help players improve their individual and team basketball skills in a competitive environment, while helping them develop and get the exposure they need to continue playing at the collegiate level. The program Director is Bob Shields.
The 2026 Cap City Scrapers National 17u team is coached by Keith Kenney. Kenney is a former JUCO All-American and D3 all conference player who is also the Head Coach at SUNY New Paltz since 2017. He was named 2025 SUNYAC Coach of the Year and has the highest winning percentage in school history.
The National 17u team players are as profiled below.
#2 Bruce Maendel (2027) 5’11 point guard, Mount Academy- Fast and explosive scoring guard who can shoot it at a high level who was Section 9 C/D Player of the Year. Maendel surpassed 1,000 points scored and averaged 24 ppg as a junior. He can also be a playmaker for his teammates. High gpa
#3 Rohan Kenney (2027) 6’3 point guard, New Paltz High - Kenney is a big lead guard who can shoot it at an elite level. He can defend multiple positions and loves to defend. Kenney is a high IQ leader who can play on the ball or off. Kenney makes 3’s in a multitude of ways. 4.0 gpa
#4 Will DiCaprio (2027) 6’5 wing, Niskayuna High - DiCaprio is a long, high-level wing who can score at all 3 levels. He creates his own shot at any time. He can shoot from 3pt and get to the rim equally as good. Very competitive player, elite scorer that can get to his spots and score inside and out. A high-level prospect.
#5 Kevin Castillo (2027) 6’3 wing, Kingston High - High energy wing who can get to the rim and finish thru contact with a deadly mid-range. He guards multiple positions and is a strong rebounder and defender who never takes a play off.
#9 Jalin Thompson (2026) 6’5 small forward, Spackenkill High (Albertus Magnus commit) - An inside player who has a great touch around the rim.
#10 Jackson Sargalis (2027) 6’2 guard, Broadalbin Perth High - Sargalis is a knockdown shooter who can score off the bounce. He is a really tough guard with deep 3pt range. 4.2 gpa >1520 SAT
#13 Russell Patterson (2026) 6’9 center, New Paltz High (Utica commit) - Paterson is one of the top shot blockers in New York State, with multiple 10 block games this season.
#33 Patrick Pagano 6’2 guard, Spackenkill High - Pagano is a knockdown 3pt shooter who can create 3’s off screens and off the bounce. He also scores in other ways. Pagano is a gym rat who can catch fire and who’s best basketball is still ahead of him.
#35 Poem Staten (2027) 6’4 small forward, Niskayuna High - An undersized big with a college power and a college motor. He can guard guards and inside players equally and will finish above the rim. Staten is an excellent rebounder and who can run the floor with speed in transition.
