2026 NY Gauchos 17u Roster
The New York Gauchos Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) basketball program offers youth in New York City the highest quality athletic programming, academic support and enrichment, and opportunities for lifelong success. Their goals are to produce athletes who can play basketball at the highest competitive levels, and to cultivate strong students and well-rounded citizens. Since 1967, the internationally-recognized New York Gauchos have operated under the stewardship of Teamwork Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit located in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx. Each year they provide approximately 300 student athletes with an elite travel team experience, academic enrichment, and educational opportunities. Their home is the iconic the Gauchos Gym in the Bronx.
The Gauchos have a 17u boys team in 2026 that is competing in the New Balance P32 League. The team is coached by Monsignor Scanlan varsity coach Dwayne Mitchell. The team’s roster is as below.
#0 Myles Duckett (2027) 6’5 guard, Long Island Lutheran School - From Connecticut, Duckett is a really good shooter and defender. 3.7 gpa
#2 Marco Borrelli (2027) 5’10 point guard, Fordham Prep - Borelli is a tough, high motor guard who impacts winning through his relentless defense, competitiveness, and team first mentality. Borelli combines strong basketball IQ with the ability to create his own shot and make plays for others, while consistently bringing energy and leadership on both ends of the floor.

#10 Dreshawn Peek (2027) 6’2 guard, Springfield Commonwealth Academy (MA)
#12 Anthony Venzen Jr. (2027) 6’5 wing, Monsignor Scanlan High - Venzen
is an elite combo guard. He is a three-level scorer who can play on or off the ball with the shot making ability to space the floor and create for himself. Elite on ball defender with a high motor who can guard multiple perimeter positions. 4.0 gpa
#15 Tafari Kennedy (2027) 5’9 point guard, Thomas Jefferson High
#21 Jaden Finnikin (2027) 6’6 wing, Monsignor Scanlan High - Finnikin is a lefty who can score at all three levels and has a nice touch around the rim and also plays above the rim. He can also shoot off the catch and create shots off the dribble.
#22 Bablen Traore (2027) 6’6 small forward, Christ the King High
#23 Anthony Penado (2027) 6’6 small forward, Winston Salem Christian - Penado is an elite true three-level scorer. He also brings smooth ball-handling and a strong passing IQ. Penado is also an active rim protector.
